SPOILER Secret Place In Detlas Suburbs

After watching @ReneCZ's vid I decided to open it too to document it for my own project before it is gone. With the help of @ditsario and @Matteo_Games and our horses we got in. After finding out about the hidden tripwire hook, we invited @Emogla3 with their archer class. They were able to open an entrance accessible from the outside (the escape way of Rene and his party). My co-researchers said the hopper made a "ping" sound, however we were unable to discover what did it mean. Our best bets are on the well, which is also accessible from the outside, but they proved to be wrong.

All in all, we didn't discover much more than you could see from Rene's vid. Either that was all, it is unfinished or we didn't discover it all.

Now for a bit more serious stuff:
They are removing this in 1.20 and presumably replacing it just by a tower with t3/4 loot chest. And we are asking a question "why"? There is no real reason for it, only making place for a lootchest.
We are afraid that more small, hidden secrets like this will get removed (e.g. the end portal) and no more will be created (which we will never know, logically). This is what makes the exploration amazing. That there aren't just Secret Discoveries and World Events, but even things that do not just tell you "hey, they exist" but you have to really explore to discover them.

 

Yea removing it seems pretty weird. If for some reason they REALLY need to add that tower in at least keep this secret area too instead of removing it.

 

I didn't do this, but this place seems very lacking and it's not like it told any story of some sort, and getting access to it was super hard. In fact, I'm sure the majority of the community doesn't even know about this place existing. We're not planning on constantly removing little snippets of exploration, but this cave in particular served absolutely no purpose and on top of that, it required multiple people to enter.

We do still love adding things to explore, so you shouldn't really worry about that!

 

So what majority of the community didn't know about it?
The multiplayer requirement: Raids, ???, Bob's Tomb... (although if some plates were removed or changed to wood I wouldn't complain

Maybe if you would make something at the end to make it worth it... Like the Ancient city eye (I don't want to put spoilers but I think you know what I am talking about) which requires the player to really explore, as it is quite hidden.
It doesn't have to be a secret discovery to be nice.

Raids are major content, and the others are from quests. As for Bob's Tomb, most content team members (if not all) would like to see it be redone at one point, there's just never been time to do that! So who knows when that'll get done.
It's just a little odd to have a pointless cave be locked behind multiplayer.

As for that one piece of content in particular, it turned out to be a good spot for that tower which is why it got replaced with it!

 

Could I get definition for "major content" please?

Btw since ??? was not meant to be a quest, do you have the tools now to make it non-qiest thing?

I am not sure if a tower with lootchest satisfies the loss of this (which could get changed and reused for something, it was a really nice place), but that is up to each individual's opinion I guess

 

I don't have an exact definition obviously, but it's just advertised content that's on the forefront of the update, that's also endgame. It's not a small explorable cave, it's a new huge feature

As for ???, we might be able to make it not a quest, but I can't guarantee anything right now. It might require a little bit of touching up to do so!

And something that I'd like to say that there was no harm in keeping it. The tower could just exist on top of it. This secret cave was not entirely useless, as it offered me and some others a fun exploring experience. You didn't have to throw it away since it had no purpose/end reward, you could have added one to it.

 

I see good points being made here however I think some people miss the premise. The tower with the loot chest was a way of adding some meaningful content to this area of the map, whilst also making it much more accessible for other players. Adding specific content to a cave very few people have even accessed would be a bit of a waste of the CT's time. This was meant to be a case of removing something useless and replacing it with something useful, although I see why some people would think removing the cave unnecessary.

I can assure you that secret and explorable content to the map will continue to be added, but more in a way that the average player can enjoy it as much as everyone else (without needing outside help).

 

1) Puttig the tower 2-3 block off it would make it possible to left it there
2) Maybe reducing the amount of plates to 2 or 1 + 1-2 wooden could make it much more accessible
3) Waste of CT time - remove it completely
I understand that they had a reason for it, but I think it could've veen done better

But secrets like these are not for average players, but a reward for those who really explore.

secrets like these don't feel as "secret" if there is some big clear button and a door opening, possibly even an NPC hint in a town.

I'd also like to get an answer as to why can't the tower and the cave exist at the same time.

 

And yet you found out about this secret through Rene's video, no? Not that I'm saying sharing these things is bad, it's great to see the community work together to solve problems and discover things, but I would have great respect if you and a group of players stumbled across and opened the cave just as you were exploring the area.

Someone must have found it first at some point and told others but my point here is secrets, even those that are well hidden, are much better and more rewarding if discovered through unique in-game features, like those present in secret discoveries, than random chance or through other players online. Not everyone who plays the game has access to community wisdom or people they can play with and therefore they could explore all they like in this area but never open the cave.

The reason for the cave's removal likely stems from a lot of factors, including redstone systems being historically buggy and unreliable and the entrance looking out-of-place and outdated compared to surrounding structures. I can't speak for the managers who decide the map's features but they likely had good reasons to remove it.

On the other hand they are practically forced on you when you want 100% completion. It tells you "that it is there, just look", not "...".

And...? They didn't miss any important gameplay content, they are not punished by not finding it. In this case you can only win. (assuming there is something, which is in this case wasted/broken) potential.

unfortunately the frozen iron golems dont seem to be dropping the keys anymore and i threw away my spare one at the start of the beta

 

They did as of 1.19, they were quite rare though.
I tried to put some lb grear on me and then toteming the cave blow the place

about 2 months ago i went to get the key from the cave on my shaman and i got it in like 3 kills
ill keep grinding the golems

the place for the potion used to be a snow layer but now its a carpet
i used the key but it still says no destination found

Sorry if I wasn't being clear - by my point before, I was saying that it seems incredibly hard and unlikely to find this cave by just exploring the area, without outside help or prompting (and is essentially impossible for a solo player, no matter how dedicated you are)

I hope I've tried to provide insight on what I think about how certain aspects of gameplay should be explored by players. It's my belief that these types of things should be integrated professionally into the world and game so that they may be enjoyed by as many people as possible, especially for those who dedicate a lot of time to playing the game.
