I'm no professional gamer, or any of that. I'm not a very competitive player, and play for fun, mostly. If you're interested in how my gaming life's been, here's a few of the games I've played/seen throughout the past few years:
    • A Hat in Time - Mostly completed it, played through basically all of Co-op with my sister. We've seen the entire story, and played through the story of all of the DLCs, too!
    • Persona 3/4G/5/5R - Technically haven't played P5, but I have binge-watched through a playthrough of it on YouTube. For Persona 3, I watched all 4 Animated Movies, and for Persona 4G, also watched a playthrough.
    • Guardian Tales - A cute little Mobile Game with a good story, but kinda stale gameplay. Played through half of it, then dropped off after getting bored of the repetitive combat.
    • Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling - My personal golden standard for a really good RPG combat system. Played through the whole game, loved it, but didn't 100% it. I have also seen that certain optional dungeon in it's entirety.
    • Fire Emblem: Three Houses - I got it as an unexpected Christmas gift, and as of writing this thread up, am currently playing through it, if at a slower rate than other games.
    • Mario Kart Wii/7/8/8DX - Boy, have me and my sister had so much fun with the Mario Kart series, ever since our first poorly driven races on the Wii version's Rainbow Road. So many Blue Shells, so many more danged Red Shells, and many laughs and much friendly competition throughout the years...
    • Minecraft - I mean, there's no way I haven't played this. How else can I play Wynncraft, eh? But in all seriousness, I have played some Survival, and have all 4 of the Handbooks from 2014 (and only the ones from 2014, so updated, my back-end, heh). I've also watched a bit of Dream's content (who hasn't at least heard of him by now?) and am informed on the Manhunts and most of that SMP Drama.
    • Hypixel Skyblock - Over. Hyped. Game. Design. Dumpster. Fire. And it wasn't a very fun first-ever online Minecraft experience, having been majorly scammed and tricked...What is it, four times, by now...? Never getting back into that scene of grinding. Ever. Again.
    • Basically the Entire Modern Kirby Era - I've played Return to Dreamland, Planet Robobot, Triple Deluxe, Battle Royale, Team Clash, and Super Clash, 100%-ing all but the last three. Wish they did more with Battle Royale...
    • Super Mario Odyssey - Had fun with it, Co-op'd through it, wrapped up Darker Side, and haven't touched it since! Still fun to watch SmallAnt on Youtube go through it, though.
    • Celeste - Very short, quite hard, quite cute, and I blew through it in a few afternoons. Definitely more than your average Indie Game, exploring a bit of depression and stuff, while also a great platformer! (Maybe Wynncraft should take a leaf outta it's book, concerning Celeste's simple controls spiting the complex maneuvers possible...)
    • Splatoon (1 and 2) - While I'd say that I prefer Splatoon 1 over 2...Octolings. And the Aerospray PG. And my specific Special-Spam gear build in 2. I stopped playing Splatoon 1 shortly after I got Splatoon 2, and I stopped playing Splatoon 2 'cause there really isn't much to Special Spam through besides Rainmaker and Tower Control, with Ranked Mode getting boring over time, anywho. I'm currently in A+ Rank (got into S Rank on accident via Special Spamming), and while I want to get back into Splatoon 1, my Wii U doesn't seem to be working well enough for online stuff in the meantime.
    • Bloons Tower Defense 6 (BTD6) - Always a fun time to go through a nice relaxing Hard Difficulty playthrough for Rounds 1-100. I always stop soon after Freeplay past 100, because lag, and I recently played my first game of CHIMPS on Monkey Meadow! (I also lost my first game of CHIMPS to Round 95...Dang DDTs flying past my MOAB Maulers too quickly...)
    • Wynncraft - I mean, duh. I want to keep playing more of it, so I can be a better suggester, but it's not holding my interest as easily as other games. I want to suggest something which hopefully actually gets into the game one day, so that it can become more interesting for me and other newbies! (It's very unlikely, sure, but it could happen, so I'm going to at least try!)
    • Cuphead - Me and my sister wanted to do Co-op, but she kept dying. And dying. And dying. (Though, to be fair to her, so did I...) We ultimately beat every single boss in the game except for The Devil himself. And we haven't touched it since trying for 3 days straight to give it to 'im. Also, Charge Shot is OP.
What games have you guys played in recent years?

Wii is the best one by far. The bugs that create ultra shortcuts are just too fun.
Recently I’ve started to play the FATE series again. It’s just a chill dungeon crawler where you spend more time fishing then actually playing any other part of the game.

I've gotten really hooked on Dark Souls and the other Fromsoft games. All really good games (except maybe Dark Souls 2) that I'd certainly recommend.

Europa Universalis 4. I've devoted a bad amount of time to this game, because France needs to die. Or England. Or the Ottomans. Whoever.

Civilizations 5. I love this game but God I wish the AI wasn't so cheaty. Lots of fun though.

Other than that there's been a ton of games I've tried out, but those are probably like 90% of my total time playing games (not counting Minecraft) over the last few years.

Me and my sister never heard of ultra shortcuts. We usually didn't even take basic shortcuts, we were too busy being competitive with each other. Also, the singular time I recall ever dodging (not 'brrrrr'ing into oblivion with a Super Horn) a Blue Shell was with a Mushroom in MK8, and it was so satisfying.

Also, an absolutely hilarious story about MK8:
So, me and my sister were racing down Super Bell Subway, when my sister was at that large staircase near the end.

A Red Shell was gunning for her, so she threw her Bob-omb up the stairs, so that the Bob-omb wouldn't blow up in her face. As it hit her, the Bob-omb, instead of bouncing ahead, bounced vertically upwards, landing near her just as she was almost able to move. Her own Bob-omb proceeded to walk into it's thrower, stunning her again.
And the cherry on top of that catastrophic double-stun? The Blue Shell hitting her right after the Bob-omb did. Stunning her a third time in a row.

Long story short, she got hit by a Red Shell, stunned, and then blown up by her own Bob-omb, stunned again, and then hit by a Blue Shell, and stunned a third time in the span of about 7 seconds. And got passed up by me and a whole buncha CPUs. We've never had such a chaotic Item incident since then!

I haven't played that many games recently tbh though i did play

    - Hades
Prolly my favorite game of 2020, there's so much effort put into pretty much every part of the game, all lines are voice acted well, the songs are bangers, the animation is easy to look at, the art is top notch, the story is really fun. Combat is also really smooth and there's so many different combinations of builds to do in a run.
    - Terraria
Really nice laid back game that's fun to kickoff with friends. The difficulty spikes are probably my favorite part, endgame is a little bit lacking but hey it's a sandbox.
    - Doom Eternal
I only played the first hour or so then returned it cause my pc just couldn't run it, but when it was running it was very fun, if I ever get a new pc probably the first game I would buy, love the soundtrack.
    Plague Inc: Evolved
    - Fun game, easy to just casually play but gets repetitive without the custom scenarios
    Rocket League
    - Nice, casual game, I suck at it but it's one of those games where it's not unfun to be bad, you can still have a good time fucking around
    - Genshin Impact
    - It is a gacha game, but it's pretty high quality I guess, story is meh, characters are meh, I don't really like the anime aesthetic but the graphics and gameplay are actually decent, but it does get grindy and it is a gacha game nonetheless
    No More Room in Hell
    - Really fucking old game, no idea why it's still updated, it's just really fun to fuck around in it
    Risk
    - Literally a board game, with surprisingly high strategy, would recommend
    Minecraft
    - Nuff said
    Hypixel Skyblock
    - Surprisingly decent to be honest, community is hell, but hey some mindless grind can't do no harm, just don't take it so seriously
    Wynncraft
    - Worst RPG I have played but also has really in depth mechanics for whatever reason which makes it one of the only games I prefer optimizing for rather than playing. but hey it has one of the best communities so can't really beat it too much and you can't really compete with some of the other games

Here's all the games I played in 2020

Enter The Gungeon- Wow, this is a masterpiece. It is so insanely amazing in every way I cannot articulate it. Just go watch videogamedunkey's review on it, he puts it best. Play this game, please. Just play it.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive- I've been playing it for a few years now, and it's still as fun as it has always been. I also got the chance to introduce some friends to it, too. Definitely my favorite FPS even though I suck at it.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate- I played this game a lot during the first few months of the lockdown, but I got a bit burnt out on it and stopped playing over the summer. I will probably pick it up again soon, just a blast with friends.
Super Mario Galaxy 2- This game was a little bit of a disappointment for me, and I honestly don't know why. I thought I would really enjoy it, and I did, but it didn't blow me away like Odyssey, It was just a decent game.
Super Mario Maker 2- Some of the levels I created in this game are so cursed they do not belong in this universe. I might actually be sadistic. The infamous "suffering". I don't even want to call it a level, it is so treacherous. A 5+ hour completion spanning multiple days and at least 3 rage quits. Huh, guess I could have made my friend suffer more. Ok, enough has been said about this, let's just move on.
Terraria & Calamity Mod- I played this game to death from May to November. 1.4 was a slight letdown; I think it was a good update, but as the last update to this great of a game I don't think it was enough. So, after the many 1.4 Master Mode and For The Worthy worlds, I turned to mods, and OH BOY I'm glad I did. The Calamity mod is what has kept me sane this year. It literally triples the content in the game and it just feels so refreshing. THIS, is what 1.4 should have been.
Among Us- Who didn't play this game this year? I was so addicted I don't want to talk about it. The first week I got this game I played it for 12 hours a day average, staying up until 3am or later every night (this is seriously not a joke). Some of the best moments of this year for me came from this game and rounding up all my friends to get a giant party. But alas, all good things must come to an end. Around the end of October, the game was becoming boring. The gameplay isn't really that deep, and as soon as that first person in your friend group stops playing it becomes harder and harder to get good lobbies together. Public lobbies weren't nearly as fun as they used to be, and so, at the beginning of November, I stopped playing.
Cattails- I bought this game 2 or 3 years ago, played it for a bit, then forgot about it. In November and December I really did not know what to do with myself. I wasn't playing Among Us anymore and was just getting bored of the same old games I have been playing for years. So, I booted up Cattails, and found a really charming game similar to Stardew Valley. It's extremely relaxing, and you might want to check it out, especially if you are as much of a cat lover as I am.
Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion- A really spooky, pretty short game. WARNING: this game will find a way to scare the life out of you with smiling toast.
Stick Fight- Very simple, very buggy, very fun. Really cheap on Steam and great game to have a quick laugh with friends.
Portal- I got Portal right after Christmas and beat it the same day. The puzzles are really interesting and require a lot of thought. The game is only about 2-3 hours long, but if you want to torture yourself for 100% like I do, you can try the advanced maps and challenges for a few more hours of "fun." Seriously though, the game was really great and I will get around to playing the sequel soon.
Minecraft- I have played barely any Minecraft this year, however I did still play it. I played a few minigames on servers and tried to make an adventure map with friends that quickly devolved to making sheep death chambers and destroying the entire world with lava and TNT (as it always does). Minecraft will always be my favorite game of all time, that will never change. I rarely play it normally anymore, but I will always respect it for the thousands and thousands of hours of fun this game has given me. I might not have even opened the Minecraft launcher once this year if there wasn't a constant thing pulling me back:
Wynncraft- It's up there with the big boys, what else can I say. Obviously anyone reading this knows all the ins and outs of Wynncraft by now, so there is no need to explain it. 1.19 was my favorite update to game. Ever. The trailer still gets me hyped even when I rewatch it for the 50th time. Exploring The Silent Expanse for the first time was one of the best video game experiences of my life. Everything about it is amazing. From the first entrance to the pure exhilaration of completing Eldritch Outlook and knowing yet also completely not knowing what has yet to come in A Hunter Calling. I give my thanks to everyone who has worked on Wynncraft to make it the stunning masterpiece it is. It shouldn't be this goodit can't be... but it is.

I understand. Also, the only reason it was a disappointment is because I was expecting it to be one of the best games I ever played. I enjoyed it, but it was not nearly as good as Odyssey was.

    - this game will never get old
    Wynncraft
    - I've really been enjoying Wynn recently, leveling up classes is a fun way to burn time in quarantine
    Super mario 3D allstars
-I know people criticize this game a lot due to how shady Nintendo is being with it but I just wanted to play 3 classic mario games on my switch
    Paper mario: The origami king
    - I was surprised when this game had a well-written and somewhat emotional story. The battle system is really fun too.
    Hyrule warriors: Age of calamity
    - I don't like how some parts of the story contradict ones from BOTW memory cutscenes but the game is enjoyable and the strategy involved is good. I also like how the master sword goes absolutely insane when the malice monsters are near. I haven't finished this game yet, but I will soon
    Deltarune
    - I never played any undertale games prior to this because the mostly toxic and cringy fanbase turned me away from it, but I decided to give it a chance and I really enjoyed deltarune. Can't wait for chapter 2!
    Undertale
    - After playing Deltarune I decided to try the original game as well. Once again the battle system is really fun and a great way of changing up the classic RPG battle mechanics (seriously, when I watch people play earthbound and stuff i wonder how they don't get bored of the battle system). I even beat Sans, and I have to say he's not as hard as most people make him out to be. Yes, he's insanely difficult, but I wouldn't call him ''one of the hardest video game bosses of all time''
    Mario maker 2
    - I've had this game since around it came out and I used to try to get a medal from doing a ton of easy courses. It means I have suffered like 4,000 ridiculous, stupid and easy levels and I'm still not in the top 3,000 (at least last i checked, by now i'm probably at like 7,000 global rank)
    Minecraft dungeons
    - To be honest, I haven't really been enjoying this game. I've had it since august last year and haven't played it much since. I'm not a fan of how insanely hard the redstone goliath is for its expected level and I don't feel like grinding. I need to finish it at some point though so I can make the most of my season pass.

Stardew Valley: one of my favourite games of all time, really relaxing and I've got about 170 hours in it, it's once again consumed my life
Monster Prom: not normally into dating sims, but I saw a playthrough on youtube and thought it looked hilarious, and I'm incredibly glad I ended up getting it! funny writing, great character designs, and me and my friends are having a blast with the multiplayer, totally gonna get the dlc soon
Spiritfarer: the amount of times that I've sobbed during this game omg- lovely soundtrack and art, pretty easy gameplay-wise, but still fun and both incredibly heartwarming and heartwrenching at the same time
Puzzle Kingdoms: just a simple puzzle game about solving a famine caused by demon lords and conquering the world in the process. crazy easy, but played it a lot as a kid so it's pretty nostalgic
Wynncraft: duh, of course this is here! been playing for years now, but got super back into the server last summer
Night in the Woods: another one of my all time favourites! awesome soundtrack, tons of hidden secrets\achievements, loveable characters and an interesting artstyle. the platforming stuff is pretty easy, but the rhythm\guitar minigames range from fun and simple to mind numbingly no-life-a-3-minute-song-for-a-passing-score-for-a-week hard.

There's probably a bunch more that I'm forgetting, but these have been the best :)

A list of all the games I played in 2020:

Minecraft: I mean... Why would it not be here?

Hypixel Skyblock: Dropped it after I realized that it was only getting meaningless numbers to go up on a screen. Dungeons were kinda fun but otherwise I dropped that easily.

Wynncraft: Holy. Frick. Yes. I put this here for a damn good reason - I got addicted after I picked my journey back up in the server in summer 2020, and finished all the quests in October, and it still keeps me hooked on my mage main just due to the fact of exploration. This game manages to give my eyes a reason to exist despite all the bad stuff in 2020.

Fortnite - I know, I know, I used to play Fortnite, however, I lost interest at around the end of Season 2 of Chapter 2, so... Yeah. Not really that good compared to other games on my switch.

Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort - So me and my family decided to play on our Wii again, and I gotta admit, Wii Sports Resort and the original is perfection. I don't think anyone who owned a Wii did not own Wii Sports with it. Also love the Resort version as well, especially Swordfighting, since nothing feels better than whacking someone off a cliff with a sword.

Mario Kart Wii - Also a game that everyone who owned a Wii owned. That was a pretty fun nostalgia trip. Definitely gotta say that Koopa Cape is a pretty cool course, and I did the whole thing more to myself rather than do it online.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Also a game my family played when we were bored. I rocked Dry Bowser with the Biddybuggy and the Azure Rollers. Looks really stupid but is actually pretty good. Music Park is the best Retro track, Electrodome or Mount Wario is the best Nitro track, and Big Blue is the best DLC one.

Paper Mario & The Origami King - This is actually a really good modern Paper Mario game, and I'm pretty sure a lot of fans are appreciating it, and I hope that the literal Paper Mario series can be merged with the OG Paper Mario series to be a perfect stasis in the sub-franchise.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars - Tbh I got it in September due to it being removed and pulled from the EShop and stores in March 31st, so I'm glad I got it in time. Definitely gotta say my favorites in the collection are SM64 and SMG. Shame SMG2 wasn't added.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Steve got added. Woot. Also got it for my birthday, and was pretty good, managed to keep me entertained until I got addicted to Wynncraft.

Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - Also a somewhat decent Mario game. Not amazing, not bad, just kinda eh.

Pokemon Sword - The 2 pieces of DLC are kinda cool. I prefer the Crown Tundra over the Isle of Armor. Not much else to say.

Angry Birds Epic - Oh ma gerd yush. I redownloaded this out of nostalgia and replayed it, and despite the P2W mechanics, it was very epic, hence the name. It's a shame Rovio pulled it off the App Store, because it would've been amazing if there was an Angry Birds Epic 2.

So... 2020 was a year of gaming for me.
