Alright, a question for you class builders that have an idea about mana, I am trying to make a build and I am wondering, what is a good amount of mana regen+mana steal for a warrior post 1.20 with an intelligence of either 105 or 114(depends if uppercut does get a reduced spell cost next update) or a lower intelligence of about 75 but using the black catalyst set post 1.20? Please be sure to keep mana regen and mana steal as seperate numbers.

It depends on a lot of things. Are you playing spellspam or spellsteal? Pure spell or hybrid? Unless you're playing hybrid/spellsteal mana regen is usually better for every class except assassin. There is no "best" amount of mana regen, it depends on personal preference

I don’t really use mana steal warrior, I play at most mixed mana.

for 2/3 costs I usually aim for 15 total mana (ms+mr)

For 2/2 (or 1/3) costs I go for 7-9 mr(for a pure ms build is try to hit 10)

for 1/2 costs I’d say have atleast 6 mixed mana, prolly go for 8

for 1/1 costs I go for 6mr, I’d prolly go for 8-10ms though

I usually try to get a total of [ (uppercancel cost) * 4 ] mana per 4 seconds.

For that, calculate mana regen + mana steal + your natural 5 mana regen

Eg for a build without any spell cost reduction at 105/114 int that results in 5 mana uppercancel meaning you should get 15 extra mana to your 5 natural mr

If you use bcata that results in 3 mana uppercancels meaning you only need (3 mana uppercancel * 4 - 5 natural mana regen) = 7 mixed mana

If you also add dragon's eye (or thrundacrack) you get 2 mana uppercancel meaning you only need 3 mixed mana (+ 1/0.8s = 5/4s natural mana regen)

    Short summary:

5 mana uppercancel: 15 mana (doesn't matter if it's mana regen or mana steal, same for all other values given)

    4 mana uppercancel: 11 mana

    3 mana uppercancel: 7 mana
    2 mana uppercancel: 3 mana

To add onto the previous post, there is another combo that you can use if you are a tanky mixed mana warrior:

    upper-meleecancel upper-bashcancel

For any build that isn't 1/1 cost, this will reduce mana usage by a bit and let you proc mana steal smoothly.

True clicking madness lets you execute uppercancels in ~0.7s, so uppercancel*4 is going to undershoot by just a bit but may not be noticeable.

Yes, getting a bit more mana might be helpful in some builds, but usually you also sometimes use charge meaning you need less mana for like 0.5s so these values usually are fine :)

eg in my tank Idol build I have 11 mr (13 with a 3 mr Idol but as you see you dont need that much) because all you do is standing there and spamming uppercancel (3 mana uppercancels)

Do you think it's ok to rely on natural mana regen with 3 mana regen and have the rest be mana steal?

Depends on your spellcosts and intended spell combo

I mean the answer to all these questions are "depends" so

Mana steal with super slow is consistent enough, 8 mana regen with (I'm assuming) 5 cost spell combo based on your original post, should be enough for mana steal to kick in consistently

Ok, 105/114 int, 3 mr + 12ms, at best 5 mr + 12 ms. Not ideal obviously, but is that reliable?

    sorry, edited post

I mean u can try it :P I can say from experience that 4/4 mana regen and 6/4 mana steal can just barely pull off the upper-bash-upper-melee combo, so you should be fine, if just barely

Details for clarification: I was running 4/1 cost warrior, combo is 7 mana over ~2 secs, total mana in buid was 4/4 mana regen + 5/4 natural + 6/4 super slow ms = 15/4 mana, so the math checks out

The extra 2/4 mr would really help
