    I know it will be a bug in the past but maybe changing it to have the blocks will be nicer.

    I made a thread about this a while ago. Salted replied by saying the texture broke but it looks cool so they never fixed it.

    I think it looks decent right now, but I would prefer the old nether portal particles. Even mixing black and purple particles would look nicer.

    the particles are not glitched in 1.13 the last time I checked
    but they look cooler broken

    They are not lazy, the just have better things to do (like making the update). And if they like it, why change it?
