In this thread I am going to describe several reliable ways of gaining and maintaining a high like ratio on the forums through duplicity, grit, and know-how.

    “The Shitpost”

Shitposting is an art practiced both high and low. Unfortunately, it has a high skill ceiling, and can be very punishing for initiates. These posts appear to be low effort relatively short posts usually in a satyrical or non-serious tone talking about an issue or idea. To be effective, these threads must be made with forum likes in mind. This means the thread must originate in the “Wynncraft” forum, as other forums simply don’t have enough traffic. Look at this post. Not only was it posted in class builds, it did not generate any likes for the individual poster, despite having a significant amount of work put into it. To shitpost effectively, know your audience. Look at @YYGAYMER’s post. This is how you shitpost effectively. Just because it was satyrical and humorous, and seemingly short, does not mean it lacked detail. YY is a good example of an effective shitposter, and reviewing his previous work will be beneficial to any aspiring shitposter.

It is also prudent to point out though, as with the KeanuReee example, that shitposts do not always positively affect your like ratio, and might require practice to do effectively. There is also the danger a shitpost will define you, or make you less well received by the community as someone who posts irrelevant content, this is NOT what you want, since it will make people less likely to like your posts. Your posts should also have atleast passable amounts of effort as well, lest it be moved to the VIP Plaza, which gets less foot traffic, and where you will be less likely to receive likes.

    “The One-Liner”

The One-Liner is probably one of the easiest and most reliable ways to farm forum likes. If it were compared to in-game activities it would be like lootrunning. You don’t always find mythics, but when you do, it significantly increases your net worth. The goal here is to put funny comments on an active thread, preferably on the first page, and on one of the first few comments. It is not an excuse to go off-topic, but it is an opportunity to add some levity to the discussion. Here is an effective example of a good “one-liner” post. @Shots was able to net 20 likes by just posting 1 image. I was able to replicate this, to lesser success in this thread, netting myself 10 likes. The great thing about this method though, is that you rarely experience net loss, as you will likely get atleast 1 like on your post.

    “The Guide”

So, the previous methods on this guide are all about trying to create something “funny” that will get people to like your post. The goal of this is more to make something compelling. It doesn’t even have to be useful, take this post for example. I was able to net 11 likes without doing much outside work, or make something particularly long. The post isn’t even that helpful in most cases. All you need to do in a guide post is trick people into thinking you know what you’re talking about, regardless of the actual content of the post, but usually the more thought out the post, and the more useful it is, the more likes it will receive, take @Druser’s class building guide for example, He was able to net 43 likes off of the post, partially because of the amount of effort put into it. Utilizing this method, unlike the shitpost and one-liner methods creates rapport for you in the community, which can exponentially increase your like gain, one needs only look at YY’s success again to see reassurance on this point. This is also a double-edged sword, as a bad, or poorly informed guide can easily bring down your rapport. The downsides also include it usually taking decent amounts of effort, and having to pretend like you actually care about other people and helping them, and not simply your own message-like ratio

    “Profile Stalking”

To those who do not know, profile posts (and VIP Plaza posts, which can be used the same way), do not add to your message count, but DO add to your like count if they are liked. This is a like farmer’s dream. If someone likes a normal forum post, you are netting 0 if you only get 1 like, it is also a risk to post in the normal forums, since you could end up getting NO likes. However, in profile posts, you will not only not increase your message count, you will likely have a higher probability of receiving likes, as people are personally invested in their profiles. Some peoples’ profiles are a like farmer’s market as well, just look at @Kahsol’s profile, a post on their profile, especially one with a modicum of effort put into it will CERTAINLY receive 1 like, with the possibility to receive more. Granted, it is not effective to overly post on one person’s profile unless you are friends with them, rudeness or exceeding bounds will likely net you negative likes, or decrease your probability of receiving likes. So, be tactful, and as with everything, diversify, post on several different profiles, don’t oversaturate one market, though it is acceptable to return to a profile if the profile manager either responds to your post, an appropriate amount of time passes, or an event that warrants another post happens. You definitely don’t want to overload the person you want to give you likes, this is the worst case scenario, that said, you miss all the likes you don’t post.

    “Wholesome Content”

Unfortunately, unlike the other methods listed on this guide, posting wholesome content not only requires moderate to large amounts of effort, but it can also require non-trivial amounts of personal information. This method requires fooling the community into thinking you are actually making wholesome content to highlight the cool things about the community, when you are actually just like farming. These posts are hard to consistently make, but they are reliable sources of likes, for instance, I have made 2 posts of this nature, netting me over 34 likes. Again, the goal is not being genuine, it’s about sucking up to the community as much as you can, to leave a positive aftertaste in as many peoples’ mouths as you can.

    “Meming”

I have no idea how I forgot about meming, but it’s among the best ways to generate likes. It’s much like a “one-liner,” but far more consistent. The meme doesn’t even have to be high quality, it just has to be an image. Your goal with the meme is to be topical and address current events to reach success. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, it is most effective to cater to a wide audience and kiss up to as many communities as possible. And don’t engage in small talk in the thread itself, comments have a lower probability of being liked than memes. You must never participate in any action that is purely for your own enjoyment to get a high like ratio, only post when you are sure it will receive a like, or be well received by a community. I mean, what are you even doing if you don’t care about likes.

“Genuinely contributing to the wynn community in a meaningful way”

This is one of the hardest methods to pull of successfully since it requires fooling the community into thinking you have its best interests in mind, when you are actually tapping one of the richest like veins the forums have to offer. A recent example is @Saya’s thread regarding the recent large scale duping, was this post about helping the community? NO, this post was obviously a calculated ploy to increase their like ratio, and it was a success, netting over 98 likes. @WithTheFish is another perfect example of this with their wynncraft secret santa post. WithTheFish was able to trick people into netting them 47 likes with their post, and many more thousands of likes with their other seemingly helpful threads. Other ways of achieving this are by feigning care and support for the community by doing stuff like making threads about helping the wiki, or participating in community conversation. While it is hard for a like farmer, a ruthless creature by nature, to pull this method off since it requires high rapport and a sense of empathy, this method is probably one of the most effective.

I’m obviously joking, @WithTheFish and @Saya are both really cool people, I chose them for this post because they were cool and have done a lot for the community. Also, I am legally obligated to say, because someone won’t realize, that this thread is a joke and made just for fun

some other sections don't increase message count either

bug reports - you get likes AND you can trick people into thinking you're a good person since you're helping others

forum games - uh just be funny i guess and maybe someone will like your posts here (not as good for likes in general, but at least it's fun too)
