Rich players being able to buy out parts of the market is fine in my opinion.

On one side of the coin, prices would increase for buyers. But on the other side of the coin, sellers who have that item could profit greatly with the increased prices. People could also grind to try and get that item and make a living that way too.

This is more of an inflation problem than a market manipulation problem. There shouldn't be restrictions on what people can or can't buy. Instead the focus should be on combating inflation to prevent the issue of ridiculous prices in the first place.

 

This thread, while it raises a point and wether you agree with that point is up to you, is kind of unrelated to what is happening right now. What happened, from what I understand, was that there was a trade market exploit yesterday, and exploited LE was being gained at ridiculous amounts, and people began buying out various mythics. People, reacting to the sudden buying out of TM mythics, started listing their mythics at ridiculous prices, hoping to cash in on the mass purchasing, and some successfully did. The TM's been down and up a couple times in the past several hours as a result to presumably attempt to stop the distribution of the LE and the buying of the mythics.

 

Monster prices trippled in a couple hours because people realised that you could solo the raid in hero beta with monster.

Because of that I'm assuming that people started buying out Monsters off TM, and Monster owners started listing their Monsters for higher prices because the demand was super high.

I wouldn't use TM prices as an accurate representation of actual mythic prices. People often only buy very godly items on the TM. Mediocre-bad mythics very rarely sell (that may explain why TM prices are not at all accurate to the prices on Iboju's thread). If you talk to sellers directly, I'm pretty sure you can still very easily buy the cheaper mythics for a reasonable price.

Not to mention that with the events yesterday, a lot of pretty godly mythics sold, which probably drove up the TM market prices.

For what its worth, prices didn't jump for monster until days after the video came out (yesterday). I've been tracking a few mythics (monster, slayer, hero tbh) and 2w average has held steady even after the EO solo videos came out. Nobody buying at elevated prices until yesterday.

@Iboju 's price guide has basically matched 2w average prices for awhile now.

For some reason I doubt the difference between a godly and bad monster is 3x. But some may disagree. (There were also no "godly" monsters on market at least imo, I bought one better than most on market a few weeks back for around 2? stx)

For the point on mediocre-bad mythics, really depends; some mythics the ids just don't matter as much (monster being one of them); while strati/toxo/lament I can see that

I agree that a large part of this problem is the TM glitch. But aside from that I don't think your points are valid.

I pretty clearly explained why monster prises rose in my original post, but to explain it more clearly.
In the beta servers, people tested Monster in the new raid and found it was one of the only viable option. People bought it off the market in mass, and Monster owners placed it on market for far higher prices. This happened about 2 days ago (day before the duping occured). That pretty much explains the massive Monster price surge.

I have no clue why Hero and Tcrack prices rose (if they did), but the Monster price rise is pretty easily explainable.

At least in my memory the 2w averages didn't move until the day of duping for monster

It could have happened before that, when the info first dropped. I only found out the day before yesterday, but I’m fairly confident that’s what happened

I've been checking prices daily. So.

 

Dude I genuinely don’t get what you’re trying to argue. The monster sales weren’t related to the duping because the duping happened after the monster sales?

When I said a lot of godly mythics sold, I was talking about the duping that happened yesterday, not the monster sales

 

The monster price rise was probably due to duping instead of hero beta information because the prices didn't go up until duping happened, while hero beta info has been out for a few days now.

Sorry if this was confusing.

That's the main point at least, a bunch of other side points but those don't really matter

Ice Bear says monster prices increases because they were ideal for raids so the demand was much much higher than it ever was before. Ice Bear says also 2 week average isn't the best metric to measure because of how common tax evasion is.
