yeah pretty much agree with absolutely everything tek, pika, and ice said

although this could be work of dupers since im sure buying all those mythics takes a shit ton of money that only a few people have/are willing to gamble on considering that the market will probably just crash anyways

idk about you, for some reason I don't find it very funny that rich players in wynn can, &quot break the market &quot

and then get complimented for it by other rich players

I think this is extremely unhealthy for the ingame market overall and there should be rules against this

I think it’s totally fine to be able to do this. It involves a definite risk, and a fair investment. Those with the money to do so should be allowed to.

That being said, the one problem I have with this is how Hero Beta factors into the market. Some of these were obviously done for the fact that they are good in 1.20 content- Hero and Monster specifically.

While Hero Beta is definitely good for the game, and there is no real way to stop this from happening, I personally hate that it does happen.

I didn’t see anyone complain when Xavi literally monopolized the powder market?

Note: I’m definitely not considered Wynncraft rich by any means, this is just my personal opinion on the matter.

there's definitely a justifiable reason for this, i just wish that the reason wasn't legal. unfortunately there's no real way to stop it

(i'm fine with buying out all of a certain type of items and setting their price, if you have the funds for that-- that's what xavi did with powders and he still controls the market on them; i'm NOT fine with using hero beta to decide which mythics to buyout for the best profit)

Doesn’t effect me. Not like I’ll ever be able to buy a really cheap mythic anyways.

I personally think that there is no problem with this because in the real world too it makes a supply/demand type thing. Yoshi didn’t do anything wrong, he just noticed a vacancy that could be filled and filled it.

It seems like a lot of people feel this way

For a few weeks (basically until yesterday) you could get cheap mythic weapons for a stack or two, but I guess not anymore

In terms of time, if you can make 1le a day you could save up to one within a year, maybe, or faster if you save money from quests

That's literally the definition of market manipulation by the way. Not taking a stance on this issue, but doing that in the real world is illegal in most cases. It's also why there aren't onion futures anymore.

Also adding this because it feels relevant right now, as written, this is not scalping. Scalping is a function of supply and demand where there are multiple sellers who compete. Scalping is fine as it brings the market price to where it should be.

If the seller is actually the only seller (or has something like 95% of the market share) then he has monopolistic power and that is not only sometimes illegal, it's completely illegal basically everywhere. If he doesn't have 95% but is working with people (formed a cartel) then that's not only illegal, it's super illegal, though it happens a lot with big tech and gas stations so it isn't really enforceable.

Best bet is to just not buy mythics, if nobody buys them at those prices then he can't sell them at those prices.

Yeah, I don't quite understand why people keep pointing to the "real world"

Its illegal in the real world

Also people don't really do it in the real world (as much) because the volumes involved are insane

Theres a very good reason why there are laws against this shit

It's for sure duping. Markets are probably messed up beyond repair right now, don't buy anything, just wait for the prices to slowly fall back down.

Dude, 1 stack or even half a stack is pretty fucking high.
The only reason you think 1 stack is low is because the market has been broken for so long it's skewed your view of what's correct.

Also, no, it doesn't mimic a real-life strategy, what you just described is literally illegal.
It's a cut and dry case of a cartel which:

Yes, but they are also the people who decided to keep their money in the form of mythics after an updated drop literally designed to lower the value of mythics.
Plus, people seem to treat mythics like stacks, which is inherently risk-taking. People took the risk, they lost, and now they are complaining about it, because they didn't have the foresight to realize that one whole update was dedicated to fixing the market, and the next update added an id to make the items more common.

Anyone, with any business sense, would have realized as soon as they saw the goal of the update, that they need to sell their mythics.

    -===-

P.s. if the price of every mythic is dropping, "which they are" you're relative value is actually staying the same. Basically that one mythic Karen has is worth 1 stack now, but 1 stack is also worth more because the price for everything has gone down.

The only thing you missed out on was a chance to make money by selling your items before the update, not losing it.

You cannot put a regulation on what players can buy. If a player has the money to do so, they can buy whatever they want in whatever quantities.

They are not going to to place a regulation on what a player can buy and in what quantities. It is not feasible: it is too much management and for something not essential. It is a free market.
