Guide Things About Assassin I Wished People Had Told Me

Much to the dismay of TrapinchO I'd assume, the assassin guide on the wiki is unfortunately a bit lacking. I haven't found any good assassin guides anywhere, so I decided to make one myself.
Do keep in mind there might be something I've gotten horribly wrong here, if so please tell me.
Some of this will be well known things, and some will be slightly more niche tips
You can cancel out of vanish
Left clicking with your weapon or switching to another item slot will cancel vanish and save mana.
Spin attack doesn't actually attack in a spin
Upon the use of spin attack, all enemies in range are damaged at the same time. This includes enemies behind you, slightly below you, slightly above you, and very close to you.
Use vanish to get a head start on long travels
When exiting somewhere if you have the last vanish upgrade, run while vanished until you have 7 mana left then switch to horse/sprinting. You can also keep alternating if you want.
You can fly using vanish
You can aim upwards and vanish, then wait until you start falling down then vanish again. While it's a bit costly and takes practice, it can get you lots of vertical mobility when you need it.
Vanish cancels fall damage
Pretty well known, you take no fall damage when vanished.
Spin attack is actually really good
I left spin attack in the dark and spammed multihit until around level 75, until I realized how good it was. Freezing mobs is pretty op, especially when comboed with smoke bomb. Do note that some ranged enemies can still attack when frozen however.
Try not to spam spells and always leave yourself some reserve mana
As assassin, pretty much the only way to die is to run out of mana. If you still have mana but are running low on health, you can run away while vanished/run to the corner of the arena and pot up. I like to leave myself around 3 mana as an escape route, but it's your personal preference.
80% damage buff is really good
Don't be afraid to just use vanish then cancel out of it with a spell in boss fights, as it only costs 1 mana if you cancel it out before it can sap more mana.
Don't spam vanish, especially if you've unlocked speed
Although it's tempting, don't just hold down right click, as this drains your mana ridiculously fast. Especially if you've unlocked speed, in which case speed 5 is more than enough for your horizontal mobility needs and calculated flying is better for vertical mobility.
You can only have 1 smoke bomb out at a time
Throwing another one will just replace the first one, so don't bother spamming smoke bombs.
Alright that's it, hoped this helped 1/5 of a person somewhere. If there's anything I should add just tell me in the replies because my brain went past it's free trial time today and I haven't made an alt account yet.

 

If it's lacking then edit it...

 

-Spin attack also blinds mobs
- you can dubble mutli hit just don’t know how to explain.
-if you tripple spin or dubble or like just spam spin attack you blind yourself.
-if you trow a smoke bomb and than trow an otherone it cancels out the first 1 just like with all other spells. just as holding an other weapon.

Have you heard of the 'Edit' button.
I would do it for you but I have no idea where it would go and understand nothing about Assassin.

 

I know how to edit something but I don't know the syntax

 

unless you're doing something really complex (which this isn't), you don't need to know syntax, you literally just press 'Edit' and type stuff.

 

I am way too lazy to learn how to format titles, text boxes, and paragraphs

flashbacks

 

Vanish's damage bonus lasts for 2 seconds after it ends. So spam as much as you can. I thought it only applied to first spell/hit.

Switching slots removes smoke bomb even if it's just for a meleesecond. also applies to shaman's totem or whatever projectiles.

Look up and vanishing propells you almost as much as escape spell. However don't jump while doing it.

Get a horse before you level assassin or you'll die of impatience, since vanish doesn't grant you speed until grade 3.

 

Sad but true.

 

I see you haven't learned of Vanish spamming. Aim like 35 degrees off the horizon and vanish-left click repeatedly whenever you hit the ground. It's not as fast as a horse but it sure as hell beats walking.

 

Because it is old. Before 1.18 for sure, pripably earilier.

If others find this good, I (or you) may update it using this thread.

I am not really suprised. A lot of the wiki is outdated, that is why we need to get experts (Like Atlas Inc. people for example). Of you think it is bad, update it. If you don't have enough knowledge to do so, tell me or some other editor.

 

I haven't edited the wiki much before but I started it today and I think I'll work on that page later tonight, so that I can improve it since its kinda bad rn. I have like 1.2k hrs on assassin so am fairly used to it and know all the strats. Editing will probably take a while tho since that page is in a very poor state rn
