    If you change your name that should all be entirely unaffected. The only thing I've seen is sometimes your name in the guild or friends list will get messed up.

    Possibly, but the people I know who have changed their name are still bugged. It's possible it no longer happens though. Either way, it's not really a serious problem, and I believe that if you really care, removing and re-adding them as a friend fixes the problem (not 100% certain though).
