Wynncraft Admins Prepare Your Servers

a game that is very simular to wynn (hypixel skyblock) just got a p2w update
so alot of people will quit and play wynn lol

 

wynn is very unheard of
the servers will have to get ready if technoblade decides to do a series on the server (although salted seems to want techno to do a series/video on the server)


side note: technoblade played wynncraft in the past but not on camera and for some reason leveled up jewelry

 

ye wynn is pritty popular under skyblock player alot of them play once in a while wynn
techno did mention wynn in like a vid for 10 sec

 

the only solution is for wynn to also become p2w

EULA changed actually, that's why hypixel's skyblock managed to sneak in a few p2w stuff

Soon introducing the "instant level 106" package!

 

1) Hypixel SkyBlock is nothing like Wynncraft.

2) Even if I don't like SkyBlock that much, it's technically not pay to win because the game can't be "won". It's a PvE game, not a PvP game, and it doesn't have a definitive end to it.
Plus, they did change the EULA a bit anyway.

I guess it makes sense though because most of them have mindlessly poured many hours into the game and just care more than they should about it.

with that said, I've noticed a lot of wynncraft players hate hypixel for really stupid reasons.


To clarify: I like both wynncraft and hypixel, but I'm not a fan of the way hypixel has been handling their server recently.

 

Yeah, I would be a bit horrified if Wynncraft had a way to pay real money for emeralds
(Honestly, I don't have a problem with an instant level up thing though, as long as that's all it does, idc)

 

So I read the EULA. The End User License Agreement isn't actually what's important here, because it applies only to individuals (I think). The actual important document is the Minecraft Commercial Usage Guidelines, which was updated on April 17th this year. A blog post on Minecraft.net was made, which states this:

• What kinds of things servers can sell. Previously, the guidelines spoke about allowing the sale of effects that influence everyone in the same way and barring the sale of items that affect gameplay. Now the focus is on ensuring that whatever servers sell to people, it’s not a thing designed to give someone a competitive gameplay advantage or make another player’s experience worse. It also provides a clear definition for what we consider a competitive gameplay advantage.

This is only second-hand, so I'll provide the part of the Commercial Usage Guidelines that the blog post references here. It's under 'SERVERS AND HOSTING', specifically the third bullet point.

• sell entitlements that affect gameplay provided that they do not adversely or negatively another player’s experience and provided they do not give a competitive gameplay advantage. A competitive gameplay advantage is something that, given identical skill levels, time investment, and circumstances, can cause one player or group to perform better than another.
  
  • Be aware that certain games or game modes can be designed as non-competitive (such as a player-versus-environment (PvE) game) and become competitive by adding gameplay elements such as a leaderboard.

I believe the key word here is competitive. Hypixel Skyblock isn't competitive, as you're never fighting other players. The only competition comes when people choose to compete, which is out of the server's hands.

In the Hypixel Store, you can purchase SkyBlock Gems, which you can spend on several in-game things, one of which is a Booster Cookie (about $2.4 per). The Wiki says the following about them:

The Booster Cookie grants the player multiple abilities for 4 days:

• Ability to gain Bits
• +20% Skill XP
• +15  Magic Find
• Keep coins and effects on death
• Permanent flight on your private island
• Access /auction (/ah) and /bazaar (/bz) anywhere
• Spend from bank directly in shops
• AFK immunity on your island
• Sell items directly to the trades menu

So taking a page from the Hypixel book/ledger, Wynncraft could in theory (please don't) make its own thing. As long as it doesn't affect the competitive part of Wynncraft, i.e. Hunted Mode, duelling, leaderboards, or Guilds, it's all fine.

don't think anyone would quit hypixel sb, cause they would end up complain for like 3 days then they will give their credit card to hypixel w/o a second thought

Honestly I wouldn't mind some new stuff on the wynncraft store :)
(ofc as long as it's not absolutely ridiculous)

 

If its pay to win at all, I would mind it.

 

nah, its not too bad 1mil for a bunch of stat boosts is totally worth it

 

There is one issue with Hypixel's stuff
It is actually illegal, the game has leaderboards for collections and skill XP, magic find and AFK inmunity can give a lot of advantage for these leaderboards, so in the end there is a way to compete and this can actually affect your results
