For the animations, probably just an image editor (probably bitmap). The animated texture frames are all on one png stacked on top of each other. A json file then defines how to display it as a texture.

They then use these textures (normal and animated) in a json UV mapped model. Programs like blockbench can help with this, but just editing the JSON is easy enough if you know what you are doing.

so most likely they use blockbench for modeling? And the animations are textures?

They might use blockbench, but thats not the only tool they could be using. Theres others out there that aren't half bad. Also, on large models containing so many cubes I wouldn't be surprised if they simply write the JSON directly

Hello! I'd love to answer some of your questions about how I go about making models for Wynn!

As others in the thread have guessed, I use Blockbench to create the models and Adobe Photoshop to create the pixel art textures / animations. Back when the resource pack was first created, in 2015, weapon skin-makers used Cubik to make the voxel-heavy models you can get in crates. As of writing this, we've added Kiocifer to the weapon skin-making team, and they use Blockbench as well to create models.

If there's interest, I would love to create a longer-form, tutorial-esque look at how models are created for Wynn. I've been told my approach to modelling is...quite unique, as I often begin with a sketch, textures, and the modelling happens last! Please let me know if that's something the community would be interested in knowing about!

    Cheers, hope you're enjoying Wynn.

    Z
