Media 50 Player Eldritch Outlook #2 - The Media And The Aftermath

    Well, here we are.

    We finished the 50 Player EO run (actually 2 runs, one of them went horribly wrong), and after getting told by none other than Salted himself that

    we realized we fucked up hard.

    To be fair, we did expect a crash, rolling into a dungeon with more than 45 people at the same time. We had better equipment, better strategy and somewhat better turnout.

    We all arrived to the EO at around 5:45 PM UTC, with an initial turnout of 36 (7+ people were in EO entrance rather than The Eye's door). Organization wise, most of us had tanky builds, and we all expected to survive the upcoming madness that was cramming 45+ people into a single room.

    Except, the planning phase turned into a disaster.

    Party bombs and Disguise bombs brought the server we were in to a halt (WC17, initially), and after a while we were getting tired of the antics of whoever was throwing the bomb (HWSNBN), we decided to switch to WC15 (afaik?).

    Unfortunately, he followed us there, and caused more shenanigans!

    In the end, we still were able to get the desired 45+ man turnout with everyone arriving in one piece. But boy did we overestimate our chances.

    The party almost instantly wiped due to immense lag, most deaths happening in Phase 3 after the Wretches decided it was a good time to prepare a total party wipe.

    In other words,
    "Beidh tu imithe o mo radharc."
    You have died...
    2 Soul Points were lost...

    Needless to say, we were not having a good time. And to top it all off, some time after Phase 3 started...

    The server crashed.

    This time, partly due to the rules we had to establish prior to the run, there was no "VORE VORE VORE" spam so we didn't get into trouble with the mods.

    We did get into trouble with Salted, however, who was way less than happy to see us obliterate a shard with immense lag.

    And then, we did perhaps the most logical thing anyone could imagine doing in our situation, we tried again. We got a party of 37 players, and managed to make it to Phase 3 (after the eyes stopped falling like the last time for quite a while, this time not resulting in a crash). But when we were doing the run and doing so well...

    The server crashed again.

    At this point we had to finish the run so every remaining player logged in and wrapped up the boss fight. It took us 2 attempts to get the desired result, but we did it! We destroyed Eldritch Outlook, both figuratively and literally.

    Actually, we did finish the first run the same way the second one was finished, but the party that went there was smaller, and I can't remember what server it was.

    After the first server crash those who didn't die in the arena and entered WC19 spawned in the arena again. We were still there with a few people and we won.

    Well we did announce the time on the thread... (even though it was a potential time that more or less became official)

    Also, there were a couple of in-game shouts before the event.
