SPOILER Questions About A Silent Expanse Discovery

So I did a post not to long ago on Fruma and we got into a discussion over if corruption and decay were similar. Long story short, they are similar but so far not the same. The thing I just noticed while doing the "A Moment of Hope" Discovery is it mentions that the monolith was created by the light to protect the miners just as the darkness infiltrated Gavel. This begs a quite a few questions to me, what purpose would the light from Gavel want with miners on the other side of the map? Does that mean the light is also fighting the corruption? If not the corruption, has the decay made its way to Wynn? Could the Villagers be having a similar downfall to that of the Olm right now? If Decay and Corruption aren't the same, does that make the creatures from the Silent Expanse have more in common with creatures from Gavel rather than Wynn? Last, it mentions that the light is fighting the "darkness", is this the same as the decay as it mentions as the darkness taking root in Gavel or is this "darkness" something completely different from either the corruption or decay? This post is just for fun mostly.

Gavel is plagued by something that could be described as "illnes".

My theory is that the thing infecting Gavel might be creatures of Darkness, but are not the Darkness itself (meaning they are not a force that spreads the Darkness, changing land and living being, but rather creatures that spread plague)

It fights Dern
