This is my second letter to the community and I hope somebody will find it useful.
This guide is mainly aimed for newbies and players that have never suggested before. It is NOT replacement of the guide posted by the staff, but more of an enhancement.
Please don't pay attention to my terrible english and wording, it is about the content, not grammar

I hope it will help somebody, even if it would be a single player.

    What NOT to suggest:

Well, I can't prevent you from doing it, but please, really think about it before you do.
These are generally unpopular and/or difficult to make,
    • Housing - Suggested MANY times before. There are also some technical difficulties with them
      • EDIT: Seems like 1.20 did it.
    • Item pouch (or emerald one) - also suggested many times (same thread as above). One of these got actually implemented as the Ingredient pouch
    • Summoner/Necromancer/Beastmaster - class suggestion + mob AI should not be trusted that much. Most of them aren't detailed
    • Emerald converter (major id, pouch, mechanic or other except merchants) - This would make the game too easy and remove one of the few reasons to return to cities
    • Any that is advantege money/rank-exclusive - it just breaks minecraft EULA
    • Quest restart - it was said several times it won't be done. There is too much space for bugs and exploits (e.g. quests that give items before ending (The Envoy pt I or AJF)). Please wait until they fix it.

    Class suggestions:

These should be very detailed and really thought through before posted. They are generally rejected and one of the bigger sources of toxicity because most of them lack detail. (Still not hated as much as housing). I don't recommend posting it without describing these:
    • Base stats (the stats when you choose a class) - what is the class about? Damage dealing one? Tanky one?
    • Weapon - would it use chain? fists? what?
    • ALL spells
      • Mana cost
      • Upgrades
      • Damage/Effects
Don't try to make them op, try to balance so it is as good as other ones (except warrior?)
Be original, don't try to remake warrior (except actually reworking it) or any other class
Don't force one playstyle. Don't force the players to use e.g. melee only (with spells are pure buffs)
Reskins must be the same as original, may differ only cosmetically!

    Quest suggestions:

NOTE: These are not very popular. I recommend filling every point of this section before posting it (except "other good things")

    What must be stated:
    • Name - self explanatory
    • Level - be careful when choosing a level. Do it after you create the quest itself. Don't teach basic mechanics to level 100, but also do not assume level 10 players will know everything.
    • Area - e.g. Nesaak or SE. This is also important factor when choosing a level. It propably isn't a good idea to create high-level quests in low-level area, except when introducing something new (like A Journey Beyond did).
    • Reward - do NOT make it OP. Don't even try. Give player reasonable amount of xp and emeralds (if) for their level
    • Why it should be in-game - e.g. Expands the lore or teaches players new mechanic. You wouldn't do pointless quest, right?
    • Stages - explain EVERY stage in detail. Who, where, what, how
    Optional (but heavily recommended):
    • Preview - before explaining the quest itself, write a short summary of what happens in the quest.
    • Do not include persisting quest items - if you can avoid it, do not create quest items that stick with player after the quest (except for questlines). It is just annoying
    • Do not force player to grind too much - telling player to get 1-4 items x is nice (if it has a reason), but forcing player to grind 10+ items from mobs is just bad (The Realm of Light, The Olmic rune)
    • NO MAZES - it is even stated in the GM document (can't find the file, but it is there)
    Other good things:
    • You can use already existing characters - as long as you don't mess their continuity/character you are welcome to do it

    General guide:
These are general tips on how to make it as good as possible.
    • Go into detail - tell them exactly what do you want ("Summoner class would be nice" isn't propably the best suggestion)
    • Think how it fits into the game - don't post suggestions that clearly don't fit into the game
    • Think if it is possible - "a corrupted version of the world" might be nice, but let's be honest, builders are already really busy
    • Search for similar suggestions - Don't post them if there is similar one recently posted, or get inspired if it isn't
    • Listen to feedback - Try to improve the suggestion based on what other people think. Then you can transform a bad suggestion into good one (the Bard class is good exapmple)
    • Balance the idea - don't make OP things (especially items or ids). Think how easy it would make the game.
      • Think about everyone - thing that can make endgame harder, might also heavily punish low level players (especially newcomers), try to make it balanced for every level.
    • Poll - always add a poll so other can show if they support it or not.
    • They don't have to be long, even a simple and short suggestion can be as good as long one.
    • Don't make it wall of text
Some advanced tips (Contributed by @Novalescent):
    • Show media examples. It doesn't have to be a full-blown implemented example. Pictures, GIFs, or a CMD-created demonstration would be awesome so that way it's a bit easier to understand. Possibly the greatest example of this is @WilliamLin5's suggestion for Better Banks. (A suggestion which I highly recommend everyone +1). It also helps keeps the reader engaged and gives breaks in between text walls if you have and need those.

    • Organize your thread. Usually this includes creating headers, dividers, etc. for your suggestion if you need them. Adding breaks in between paragraphs to split those large text walls will really help with readability. It also helps to pretty up the font and bold important phrases or pieces of information. It will help the reader find what you want them to read, and also help with clarification.

    • State why something is needed/useful. Most people do this, but it's usually better to go into detail on why this would be needed. For example, a typical Housing suggestion would be "Well it provides the community with benefits such as W and X, and also allows for Y and Z to happen."

    • Get internal feedback. In recent times, I've found it helpful to get input from others besides myself. This can include friends and guild members that would give input and feedback on the suggestion, and it's pretty helpful so that way you don't have to address it after you post it. In return, you can put them in a Credits section in your suggestions, which will be basically thanking them and also help with the suggestion's credibility. I know this won't be possible for everyone, but if it is for you I highly suggest you take advantage of it.

    • Set a good mood! This is a more subtle aspect, but you can set the "mood" of your suggestion by talking in a more happy, engaging, and/or cheerful tone rather than a monotonous or static tone. This is to help with engaging the reader and setting the mood for the entire suggestion. Usually I don't like to read suggestions that come off with a negative or prideful tone (ex. "This suggestion is good and should be implemented. I can't think of a reason why it isn't.") and it kind of kills the positivity of the thread.

    Good suggestions examples:

These are examples of great suggestions. Many details, feedback etc. I am NOT saying I think they would be great in game though.
    EDIT: Added Novalescent's tips
    EDIT: 1.20 announced housing
EDIT: Salted said quest reset is not possible
EDIT: Class reskins are only cosmetic ofc, asked by @AcadeeAlkana
EDIT: Added pilot class suggestion as an example, made by @AcadeeAlkana

Any feedback is welcome, including example suggestions and grammar.

    Very cool guide!

Here are some somewhat more advanced guidelines I follow while creating my suggestions that could possibly also be edited in:
    • Show media examples. It doesn't have to be a full-blown implemented example. Pictures, GIFs, or a CMD-created demonstration would be awesome so that way it's a bit easier to understand. One last thing: I think that bad or mediocre suggestions will naturally weed themselves out, and that's a good thing. People usually learn from the feedback given to them and they learn how to create better suggestion. You can go look at my first ever suggestion (Yes, before Improved Spell Effects) and see that this one didn't do so well and was kind of shut down. But I did learn from that experience and managed to create much better and engaging ones.
This guide is definitely helpful and I think it'll help with the quality of suggestions, but I think that experience with creating suggestions will naturally better the person faster. Not to say that this is a good starting point for making one though
