How Can I Improve My Damage?

To be honest, i'm not sure if warrior was the right class, i want to hit hard, but so many spears have incredibly slow attack speeds, to the point where i'm just using Pike of Fury just because it's the best fast spear i can get at this point in the game. What can i do to increase my damage without losing all my attack speed?

 

At that stage of the game, you can't do much- the attack speed of weapons is kinda fixed. Once you get mummy's rag, that's a chestplate with +1 attack speed so you can speed up a slower weapon.

If you love faster attack speeds so much, I might actually recommend assassin, it has really good early game options with faster speeds (defibrilator, almuj's daggers, hashr claw). Keep in mind the normal recommendations for skill point assignment

Yeah, warrior isn’t really the dps class, it’s more of the tank class. So you’re prolly gonna feel under damaging compared to other classes till higher level

If you really want to have a good build at your level you can ask here. Don’t know if I’d suggest it though as you’ll prolly be leveling up so fast it won’t matter, but you can ask for one to get a feel for what’s good/what options are available at your level I suppose. If you ask for a build here you’ll almost definitely sort out your damage problem though.

Also, just because a weapon has slow attack speed doesn’t mean it does less damage. Unless that’s a preference thing and not a practical thing. I’d worry more about using spells to deal damage and meleeing while your mama recharges.
if you’re not liking warrior though you can always test out other classes. As Saya said Assassin is a really good choice, and is atleast top 2 for most dps class. (Most people suggest mage as a starter class, just throwing that out there, absolutely play what you think is fun though)
(Warrior is my favorite class, but it was a bit hard to level up with tbh)

 

Mostly my problem is, im fine with the warrior class, and the problem with the attack speeds is that once i get to meleeing them, i strike once while they have multiple strikes, and against harder enemies, i keep getting taken out

hit level 17 a few minutes ago by completing the quest where you get Essren's Coat

Honestly, just keep doing quests and leveling, your gear will sort itself out. Just ID stuff when you get them and you should be fine. (The only other fast attack speed weapon in your level range is clash hook, but it’s a legendary)

And if your problem is them getting too close you can either bash them, or charge away. Use your spells. Pure melee is good endgame, but not while leveling.

(Also, follow Saya’s advice, put skill points into stuff that allows you to wear gear, then dump the rest into intelligence. You can always reset your skill points later.)

At level 21 you’ll also get another spell that knocks enemies away, which will help with survivability.

Also don’t be afraid to use potions.

I disagree here though. I think low level warrior deals enough damage to compete with other classes, but you’re still missing that OP factor that I feel other classes bring to the table. Mages can heal, Assassins can blind, Archer can stay ranged, and shamans have aura. Warriors lack the ability to avoid damage like the other classes can.

You can if you want, but if you just play onwards with Warrior you will eventually find the types of weapons and other gear you enjoy using

I have found Warrior to be a solid endgame choice though. I've soloed some of the hardest endgame content with ease with it. And it has been the funnest class for me to play.

Just be aware that most other classes are going to outdamage you.

(My point about warrior being a tank is that they have passive damage reduction and are one of the least damaging classes, whereas assassin is one of the most damaging classes. However warriors can be played as glass cannons, just as much as assassins can be played as tanks)

if you can play warrior as a defensive wall or a glass cannon, i'll likely go for somewhere in between, with more defense to tank hits while i have a slow weapon.

 

Don't ID everything, but just those that are at or above your level. If you're having trouble getting good gear, get some emeralds and buy some good gear on the Trade Market. Once you pass Level 25, only ID Rares and Legendaries, since there are more of them at that point and you don't need too many Uniques to fill in the gaps.

 

That's really misleading. Uniques fall off as weapon choices for sure thanks to baselines, but they stay relevant as armor and even become way more relevant at endgame. Early game legendaries are pretty overtuned but ignoring uniques is a really bad habit and leads to unhealthy assumptions.

 

True. But some legendaries, like Chained Pixels,are incredibly worth it. Some Legendaries, I admit, like Glacial Crest, are pretty terrible as your main weapon, and they should only be used when dealing with the harder mobs. But overall, if you have a Legendary or Rare, you can probably use it, as long as it doesn't act like Poison when wearing it. In most cases, they are the best overall, although there are numerous gaps early and mid-game.

 

chained pixels is actually an example of a low level rainbow bait item, where you sacrifice too many skillpoints and it hurts you. Bridge of the Divide, Venison, Adamantite, etc. are better examples of extremely powerful legendaries
