Mana Regen Or Mana Steal?

is mana regen or mana steal better overall?
is there an overall better one or are they both equal?
are they even comparable, or are they both good in their own ways?
which do you prefer, and why?




also I'm not asking these questions to know just to spark discussion, so discuss!

 

Mana regen because you always gain mana.

 

mana regen is much more stable but with atlas gaming i prefer steal

 

The one vote for MS is because the majority of AIn hasn't seen it



As an AIn member, I feel guilty for not voting MS, but I like MR more.

 

I prefer MS over MR but MR is better

 

MS is better for damage, plus if you're lucky you get more mana than just mr, imo MS is much better but it depends on you

 

The right answer is "it depends".
Are you an archer? Then mana regen is usually better, and you'd want at least base 2 mana steal on the weapon to even consider going for hybrid.
Are you a mage? Then it really goes about even, considering hybrid mage is really quite easy. For out of combat or the rare high distance fights though, mana regen tends to be better.
Are you a warrior? It's also quite situational, as mana regen is of course the stable and easier option- but if you can consistently uppercancel with melee (quite hard), hybrid is probably actually better.
Are you a shaman? Don't even look at hybrid unless your name is Salpinx, or you're confident in the amount of mana steal / tankiness you have. Remember, each stream of the melee has a third of the normal chance to trigger mana steal, so it's a lot less reliable unless you're very close to mobs at all times.
Are you an assassin? Mana regen doesn't work while vanished, go hybrid unless your right click is broken.

There's also a general trend of hybrid builds being able to get better sustain and damage than mana regen builds. but at the cosgt of being a lot less useful outside of combat, as well ass needing to take the risk of getting into melee range of a mob to hit them. Mana steal does have some more additional chances to trigger than mana regen (extra mobs, powder specials, exploding), but mana regen is always consistent in how much and how often you regain mana. It's pretty much what you prefer playing, although hybrid archer/shaman and mana regen assassin are generally considered poorer choices than the alternative.

 

What is mana when you can just go full tier melee build?

 

I honestly prefer mana regen on assassin, just because I like to play a more hit-and-run style with it, and it allows me to regenerate mana while away from the enemy. Once you get the general timing down, you can figure out when to unvanish to regen mana, so there’s always kind of a tempo to a fight

Using a super slow attack speed weapon with +attack speed tier can give mana steal quite the advantage over mana regen I think.

uh then how does it work? because on wiki it didnt explain who those + attack speed tiers do

 

How life and mana steal works is the latest(after +/- tier) will get a fixed percentage depending on how fast/slow it is of applying the “steal” (at superslow it is something like 49%)

 

Mana regen is good if you're a spell spam build bc its spell spam, and not melee.

But mana steal is good if you're hybrid, as you use both melee and spells, and also good if you're attacking a bunch of mobs at once as the mana steal can stack and none them is better or worse to you. I would say mana steal is better if you're only melee, but it wouldn't matter anyway if you're not spell spam or anywhere near it.

 

Mana regen. Once you have 8/4 mana regen with 75% intelligence or 12/4 mana regen with 50% intelligence you can spam to your hearts content. These numbers might be a bit too much anyway since you have extra time while dodging.
