How Does Exp Overflow Work When The Next Level Increase Rolls Around?

Just curious, because I've prepped my classes to reach level 106 at the same time, but I'm wondering if the next update does increase the max level limit, what would happen for the following scenarios?

Assumption:
Level 107 is added that is the combined exp from 1 to 106.
Level 106 is reduced to the normal exp curve like from 1 to 105 as a result of level 107 being added.

Level 105 with any% exp to level 106 will have all exp transfer over and if there's enough exp, allow for the instant leveling to 106 and carry over to 107.
Level 106 will keep level 106 and will have to grind the exp for level 107 from 0% OR they use their extra exp gained after 106 towards getting 107.

Other people I've heard:
I've heard people say that people who reached a certain level will get a star to signify that they grinded out level 106 and that everyone above 105% will be reset to 0%. Meaning that I would need to grind about 1.4 billion to reach max level on all characters again, but at least I have a star.

I'm just curious if I should have my characters wait out the next update so that I can instantly level my characters to 106 and then have a massive lead to 107 without needing to grind another 1.25 billion exp on my 5 characters and only need to grind the remaining 0.15 billion exp to 107.

 

The Star was added in the past because of an error that caused the extra xp to be lost, not an intended feature. Provided that nothing goes horribly wrong like last time, grinding more xp at level 106 should give you a headstart towards 107 if and when more levels are added.
