Build My Builder Application

Hello! Recently, I have applied to be apart of the builder team. However, I realized that maybe my builds aren't good enough. Since I can't decide on if I deserve to be on this team, I have decided to ask the community. This is my first post and I have no idea if I'm in the right place, but, if you have some time, please look through my builds and judge weather I should be a builder. Please note that recently, my building world was corrupted, and I'm currently trying to bring back all my builds.

Update: This is an update to a thread that is somehow still alive. In case you didn't know, I am a member of the wynncon build team in order to get some experience. I am finding it very helpful. Because SOMEONE isn't giving me reqs anymore, I'm starting a series of personal projects. The problem is, I can't think of anything to build. Just say something, and if I approve, I'll build it.

This is pretty similar to my app where I got promising, I'd recommend doing more completed projects which have both structures and terraforming with some decent composition. The houses also need some better detailing I think

 

Most of my builds that's like that got corrupted :P

I love some of the buildings and that bridge thing looks great but some of the terraforming is a bit... bland and clunky, in my opinion, maybe smooth it out more and add more grandeur to it. Maybe you could compile all those builds into 1 so you don't have the flat world behind it. Also I'm a bit confused why your not just applying, not to be blunt but why ask the community? The actual team know what they want out of a builder, not the community ?

 

Imo it is completely fair to wanna show off your portfolio. Whether it's to ask people to gauge your chances [quite a lot of builders look through your work, and some ex-builders too..] or to give advice on what you could improve on. Posting your portfolio here is probably the easiest way of getting feedback from a bunch of people besides directly contacting them

 

I mean fair enough it just seems odd to me, since the builders know what the they want out of someone. Each into their own.

 

It's reassuring to know if people think your builds are good enough, like yes it won't change the outcome, but it'll probably give you an idea of how it'll go, and tbf a lot of people like myself are pretty impatient and nervous, waiting a month+ for an app raises a lot of questions in someone's mind sometimes

 

First let me introduce myself. I was in the wynncraft buildteam a few years ago. After leavintg wynncraft, I've worked for countless build teams for countless servers namely: badlion, luxstudios as well as a hand full of bedrock marketplace content. Eventhough I've left the CT I still play alot of wynncraft, and love interacting with the wynncraft community.

Here is a word of advice:

Honestly some of these builds are great, there is something really special here.

For exmample the one below. This structure is honestly amazing. Aside from the questionable orange and gray pallet I on first sight was left speechless, because the structure is really good! If you can sustain this level of quality, on a Larger scale, remember the Team is looking for consistancy. They want to make sure you dont make the monalisa in one build and then the next you build a pile of garbage. Thats why scale of builds are SO important, so that they can observe your consistency.



This terrain here also looks great. I love the tiny gradient alot, such a little addition but it adds so much to the build! Although it looks chunky I think in certain situations this terminating could work. Again my only issue with this one is for you to REPEAT it on a larger level.



Even though you have two good builds, the rest are pretty average.

You'll probably get a "PLAUSABLE" or something like that. If you're lucky you'd probably make it so..

Hello! I put out my builds to the community to see what their thoughts would be. Some of these suggestions have been really helpful to me. As I wait for a reply, I was interested on what the community thought of my build. I also asked the community as the replys I get don't really give much information on what you did wrong or what you need to improve in, they just say "Thank you very much for your application and hope to see another again soon". I know that the actual build team chooses if I get in, but the community has given me really good ways on how I can improve. Thank you to everyone that voted and everyone that suggested something (I will improve my world editing skills)

 

Oh when did you submit your application? I haven't had a reply to mine for like three weeks now

 

I first submitted my application around a week ago. After not receiving a reply, I submitted another application yesterday. I just received a reply saying it was promising. If you haven't gotten a reply to an application 3 weeks ago, I suggest applying again. I hope you make it.

Sending in an extra application to get responded to faster is not a good way to get our attention, applications get checked when they get checked and that's just how it works. If there are ever any questions regarding if an application is still in the system it's best to just ask on the "how to apply for the official wynncraft content team" thread.

 

Yeah I realise, I was just curious when he applied to sort of estimate a timeframe for how long applications take to be responded to currently

 

Do you have world edit? if so you can do things like //replace 17 17:12 on the trees. That will give them a more smooth exterior, although the rings aren't bad in some cases

 

I do have world edit and use it for my terrain. I know that I can make the logs 6 sided, but never do as I built these trees really early. I want to preserve them as they where the first custom trees that I built. They are important to me, and I don't want to change it. I did do that for every other tree that I built once I got worldedit. I would include pictures of my other trees that I recently built to represent my skill level now, but my building words were corrupted and I'm trying to recover them now. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Thank you for telling me this, I heard that sometimes all the applications would reset and I thought this might've happened. I also heard of people who submitted extra applications and I thought that that was what I had to do. I was very confused and going through the questions other players asked gave me different answers. I wasn't sure on the average wait time for a reply as answers would vary from a few days to a couple of months. I was confused on this, but now I understand. This clears things up for me. Thank you for replying. I am sorry if I accidentally spread any misinformation or made things more dificult.

 

I have built some new terrain where I tried to incorporate everyone's suggestions. I made a larger mountain that includes a structure where I also tried to add some composition. I also tried using different blocks with their own percentages in the grass. I think I improved the terrain and I hope you enjoy.
I built this in a span of around 30 minutes.

It's only one build, but I want to make sure I did it right before I build more stuff like this.

There's a distinct lack of "roots" on the mountain. As a great man called Qulaey once told me, mountains are essentially trees on crack, and trees need roots. This feels a little like it juts out of the ground suddenly. I dunno how I feel about the house though, it isn't bad but the leaves are personally not my thing
