Community Event The Wynnic Olympics [ended]

Wynnic Olympics Recap - Day 1​

As you can see in an earlier post, the Olympics began with some party bombs, drop parties, and a visit to the pigpuck ring! Shortly after was the first Scavenger Hunt, where the teams had to identify the locations in the following 5 screenshots:

The 3rd and 4th screenshots were found pretty quickly, but the rest stumped a lot of people. The 2nd one was very difficult in particular, as many people looked at the orange and assumed it was in Corkus. I was kinda considering giving people a hint, but after almost two hours, Team Corkus located all five images. Three minutes later, Team Aldorei did the same.

It was at this point that I realized that the fifth image contradicted on of my rules, which was that no screenshots would be in quest-locked areas. Fortunately, this didn't change who the current winners were.

An hour later, teams Pirate Cove and Llevigar found the last screenshot that they needed at the exact same time, and are now tied for third place.

Around this time, I announced the first of the three dungeon speedruns, and this week's dungeon will be Fallen Factory. People have until the 19th to get the best time they can running this dungeon.

Tomorrow is the first hide-and-seek task too, and it will be Llevigar. I'm interested to see how it goes!

Wynnic Olympics Recap - Day 2​

With the first round of the scavenger hunt complete, I didn't expect the day to be that busy. However, it turned out that Fallen Factory is not a very good dungeon for speedrunning, and I had to replace it with the Corrupted Ice Barrows. The deadline for submitting a run was moved to the 20th. Currently, I haven't received a ton of submissions, as it appears that accessing CIB isn't as easy as accessing FF.

At 4:00P.M CST, I held my first hide and seek game! My alt, WishThe5th, hid in five different locations in Llevigar. It seems like I chose good spots, as it took a while for people to find me each time. I then announced some more info about the Kahoot game: all teams now need to pick one of their members to participate in the game on Thursday.

Tomorrow is yet another round of a scavenger hunt, and I'm interested to see how that goes! Many of the teams are almost full too, so I'm only accepting 6 more people! Of course, you can always join as a spectator.

Wynnic Olympics Recaps - Days 3 & 4​

Day 3 featured yet another scavenger hunt, and my goal this round was to make it more difficult than the last. It seems like that wasn't the case, unfortunately, as teams Aldorei and Detlas found all locations in less than an hour. Team Pirate Cove was able to grab a 3rd place spot before the day was over, though. The five screenshots the teams had to identify were as follows:

On Day 4 I held the first of two kahoot games, and fortunately every team was able to find a representative to play in said game. However, the game didn't go quite as well as I planned, as during the game itself I found out that some questions were worded horribly, and I had to skip those questions at the cost of ruining everyone's streaks. In the end, Team Corkus got first place, Team Aldorei got second, and Team Pirate Cove got third. Thank you Saraldar, therealgman, FireHeart2705, yuuenchi2, Topper29, ThEpicFerret, Dwicey, and AIexxx for participating!

I've also done a lot of changing of schedules and prizes and whatnot, but I figure most of the people viewing this event from afar don't care about that.

Wynnic Olympics Recaps - Days 5 through 7​

Welcome back to olympics! People are continuing to submit CIB speedruns, and a lot of other stuff happened!

The third scavenger hunt was the first to occur at a different timezone, which was intended to give players in places like Asia and Australia a chance. However, I think it mostly led to people from Europe staying up far too late! Team Detlas was able to find all five locations almost immediately, and Team Aldorei and Pirate Cove weren't far behind.

The boat race was pretty successful, although I did hear pets caused some issues. I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the turnout!


But the biggest thing that happened was the beginning and revealing of the 1st Secret Event: it's a contest where each team must create their own island! Each team has until the 28th to submit an island, and then all submissions will anonymously be put into a google doc so people can vote for their favorite. I also plan on letting the forum community vote too, either by posting each island on this thread, or a different one!

I also announced today that players have the option to leave teams if they choose to do so, and others can join and take their place. Some slots in the olympics have opened up, so if you're considering joining, send me a message on discord!

Wynnic Olympics Recaps - Days 8 through 11​

Welcome back. A lot has happened since my last update. Two scavenger hunts occurred, with Team Detlas getting first place in the first of the two, and Team Troms getting first place in the second, shockingly quickly if I might add. The second round mentioned is still ongoing, and will end tomorrow morning. I'm trying to come up with harder locations now, but I guess they aren't hard enough.

The first dungeon speedrun event ended! bikesuper got 1st place, cccccccccccccccc got 2nd, Albb_n got 3rd, and MeowCatPanda and Iboju tied for 4th. Now it's time for the next speedrun: Corrupted Undergrowth Ruins! I've already received a ton of runs, and there's definitely some variance in strategies.

Another hide-and-seek game occurred, this time in Rymek. I overestimated the size of the city, so sadly that event didn't last as long as I wanted it to.

Oh yeah; for the second secret event, I'm hosting an ARG game on the olympics discord. People are struggling with it even though there are clues right in front of them. Oh well.
