I had an interesting thought, what if dern is a sort of, corrupted version of wynn? Like, once you enter through the portal in the silent expanse you enter a parallel universe where at first, everything looks normal, except the caravan driver isn't there, neither is Aledar, Tasim or the cart that you started your adventure on, all that's there is the landscape, the door and a couple of farm animals.

You begin to make your way to the door that connects fruma and wynn, only to find that it has been completely destroyed. You make your way down the path but something feels off, the water in the pond is replaced by the inky gray liquid found in the silent expanse, and the river of cool water is replaced with boiling magma and the bridge that was once destroyed is now completely rebuilt. You make your way across, it begins to break apart, you sprint across it, just barely making it.

You walk into the cave, littered by bodies of dozens of soldiers and the smell of rotting corpses. You continue on through the cave, you get swarmed by a horde of zombies. Killing them all you press on, you come upon what should be Ragni, however, the entrance to it from the quaint area is completely broken, you walk into the once-great halls of the castle. The throne covered by the bloodied corpse of the king. You can't help but feel immense rage.

You unlock 2 new elements. the ability to control the night and day, the two new abilities, known as

    LIGHT

    and

    DARKNESS

to be able to harness this power is to be able to use the power granted to every creature by the creators of the darkness and the light.

You walk out into the once-powerful Ragni, the kingdom that once stood tall against the corruption, now in ruins by the very thing it sought to destroy. You draw your weapon as you look onto the burning remains of the city. with one quest, one desire.

    To kill what destroyed Wynn.

Now to explain how this might've happened.

After the player had gone back to Fruma, they had stayed there for years, cleaning the mess and killing the queen of fruma.

Noticing their absence, Bak'al laid siege to the province of wynn, though he and his armies were unable to travel across wynn to gavel due to their origins coming from hell. Many had died from both sides. Bak'al had emerged victorious due to his greater magical abilities compared to even the villagers of maltic. In one final attempt to wipe out the corruption, the remains of the armies of Bak'al and fought him, though they were greatly outnumbered and outmatched, they still took down hundreds of corrupted soldiers. However, for every single dead soldier of theirs was one soldier for Bak'al’s army, as more died the stakes became greater.

    Their numbers dwindled to zero.

Bak'al had won, no longer would something as weak as a human stand in his way.

"THIS PROVINCE SHALL KNOW TRUE DARKNESS" Bak'al shouted, speaking to the legion of undead soldiers.

"LEAVE NO TRACES OF LIFE, NOTHING CAN SURVIVE US. THIS WORLD SHALL BE BURIED IN FIRE."

    1125 AP

"It's been a few years since the disappearance of #Q_)*#%*+@, some say they went back to fruma, others say they died. Bak'al has returned, though many of the soldiers have managed to keep him at bay, for now, I'm not sure how much longer that can last, many people have sailed across the ocean to gavel, looking for refuge, though I'm not sure how long that will be able to last, the Villagers might close the doors again, sealing themselves off, forever."

    1126 AP

" I had to flee my home city, Almuj due to the new mayor enacting laws against humans, as well as the armies of Bak'al drawing closer, me, my family and a few others are going to seek refuge in Rymek, the city of thieves, though I doubt they'll accept us. maybe they will."

"it's been a few weeks since we fled Almuj to Rymek, the locals here don't like us."

"fights have been starting to break out more and more, people are starting to get hurt, even killed."

    "a civil war broke out,"

"We won, though there's only half a dozen of us left, my family died in the battle, I miss them, yet I'm happy to be alive. Is that selfish? Has this war made us all less than animals to kill our own kind over land?"

"someone noticed Bak'al, we need to flee to Ragni. But how can we slip past him, this canyon is inside the mountains and it would take far too long to climb up them."

    A few months later

"we managed to escape the desert, 2 died, now there's only 4 of us, we're hungry and tired, I want to sleep."

1127 AP (start of the new year)

"We got to Detlas, While standing it looks to be one siege away from death. They let us in, we got supplies then made our way to Ragni, everyone here looks so bleak. It sounds so quiet here. Detlas has always been such a proud and strong city, the central capital of wynn. Now it feels like a ghost town, though I can't blame them, the second Bak'al comes, they're all dead. I wonder why they stand and fight, it is because it's their home? If I were them, I would have fled the moment Bak'al came back. However, that makes me wonder why I didn't flee. Why did everyone stay?"

    "Ragni...

has fallen, something I never thought possible, we all stood in horror as the once-great stone walls were reduced to rubble."

"We made our way into the ravines through the southern gate of Ragni. It feels, dead, the corrupted spikes lining the walls. Once we got to the passage, there were 4x the normal amount of guards, they looked surprised to find us. They let us in once we told them who were, and where we were from."

    1128 AP

"Its been about a year since we arrived in Troms, the Jungle has been almost completely burnt to the ground, many of the guards once protecting Troms have died, I tried going out today but they wouldn't let me, the little glimpse I got of the jungle it looked like more of a barren wasteland than the desert."

"I heard one of the guards saying they were thinking about destroying the great bridge in hopes that they could have a little more defense, however, if they did that, we would only have one way out in the event of an attack."

    1130 AP

"It finally happened. Bak'al has attacked Troms.

    "The Wynn province, has fallen."

"40 of us managed to escape, we're going to try to sail across the ocean, where will we go though? Corkus maybe? Maybe we could try to go to Gavel...

    Maybe Fruma."

    3 weeks later.

"I'm the last survivor, half an hour ago, me and someone else were attacked in the nemract swamp. I ran, I left them and I ran, how could I do that. Am I even human? How am I better than someone for letting them die. I couldn't even have done anything though. Would dying trying to help someone be more noble than to run like and hopefully get help so that way the province of Wynn may prosper once more?"

"I got to Selchar a few days ago. It seems so peaceful here. I almost don't want to leave."

"I got a boat to Corkus. thankfully they took pity on me and let me ride there."

    "I arrived in Corkus."

    "It's beautiful here"

    Really cool story !

    but

isn't dern just the origin of the darkness, like how the realm of light is the origin of Lightness, corruption and presumably decay just being the clash of light and darkness ?

Oh and another point (sorry), there already kind of is a fully corrupted wynn - possibly even the whole world like the nether - that being the corrupted dungeons that you travel to at the forge. This is most likely the future, too, since the Witherhead acknowledges how it has seen the player before, meaning when they fought it in the present-day at the start of the game. Additionally, you mention how in your parallel / future version of wynn that Corkus has remained unscathed, yet if you go to the dungeon after the CGG, there is another gate, with a similar pallette to the FF, suggesting that there will be a CFF.

I think what would be really cool is that if there was a CEO because that would be terrifying to think that the corruption can override the darkness...

Can't remember the exact detail but when Darkness and Light meet there is corruption. Hence why even though 'darkness' leaked into the Realm of Light, what we saw was corruption, not darkness - darkness being what the silent expanse and the abandoned mine discovery are. Similarly, when we fight the eye, the arena around the player slowly changes with each phase as it corrupts since by that point the player has no darkness element left in them so light and darkness clash once more.

Thus why I think it would be scary if there was a CEO it would mean that corruption, the 'child' if you will of Light and Darkness, is more powerful than Darkness to 'override' it . When I say 'override' I mean that the darkness itself gets corrupted, which is scary as it shows how darkness, this really quite powerful force still ultimately succumbs to the power of the corruption, if that's the case wynn really is ultimately doomed as is gavel, too, as I doubt the light could hold it at bay either.

How i think of it is there is the Light and then there is the Darkness and then Corruption almost as if that its its own element. Light owns Gavel, Darkness owns Dern, Corruption owns Wynn. Now the only question is who owns Fruma? My Guess is Reality. And it makes sense! Thats where WE come from the player! and i know its a long shot but if we put more thought into it... you dont know, it could be a good idea
    ________________________________
If im correct here Bak'al is in command of the corruption? The Eye is Darkness. And you are Light. if you haven't seen the Ultimate Discovery of the Silent Expanse yet you know that Bak'al and the Eye are Working together against the Light (Or you) however you can stand in your way. you really got me thinking! wow...

This is incorrect. Orphion represents/commands the light. Humans usually aren't affiliated with either light or darkness. The NPC in 'A Hunter's Calling' specifically says that the player's soul is 'Not dark. Not light. Not in-between. But separate.'

Random idea, what if corruption and darkness overtake light and diminishes it until it has no choice but to release all its energy, a force so powerful that it envelopes darkness and corruption, thereby destroying the old realm and creating a new land, a land of nothing or a new realm?
