SPOILER The Sad Truth Of The Guardians Of Wynn

This contains spoilers for the end of an Iron Heart Part II so don't continue reading if you haven't played it yet!

As we all know, the Iron Golems are built with metal and the corpses of the Citizens of Olux. Now, these machines are crucial for the province of Wynn as they can easily defend against the weaker - lower leveled - undead, and without them the Cities' Guards would be overwhelmed, meaning the undead could swarm a city.

Back to how the Golems are made; metal and flesh, and as we all know, corruption can raise the dead... If the corruption, meaning the physical spikes and dead terrain, came too close to a city, would it effect the Golems? Probably, it would mean that these powerful machines would turn on their fellow guards and probably kill them, especially with the help of the undead with them. It would mean the fall of an entire city!

Think about the regions, too, being the desert, plains, tundra and jungle, they all have major cities, which if they fell, would mean the whole region would be powerless to stop the larger armies of the undead! This is my theory as to how the corrupted future we see in the Corrupted Dungeons will come to be, the cities falling from within, destroyed by their own protectors.

This could just be an oversight by the writers but who knows?

 

I think the mechanical parts of the golem actually force it to move and make the muscles inside useless, so if it did become corrupt it'd most likely moan uncontrollably

 

The golems are made with villagers which seem to be less effected by the corruption, so that would make sense, lore-wise. I'm also kinda confused as to why villagers are even needed for the process; it just seems like an extra step when you could just make an entirely mechanical golem.

 

Villagers are not effected by corruption ? I didn't know that, you learn something new everyday.

*cough cough* Kinda negates my whole theory though, damn that's a shame *cough*
