So after a very, very long time of trying to figure out what the next update will be. I came up with absolutely nothing. I spent hours, days, and even full weeks trying to look into every thread, every post, and every sentence references anything that could hint at the next update. Sadly, I came up with nothing. But... On June 25th an answer finally came to me.

Recently two youtubers, TommyInnit and Tubbo_ have started playing on Wynncraft. Because of their larger size than other youtubers on Wynncraft, Jumla and Salted have been giving them some pretty special treatment little did they know, this was their own undoing.

On June 25th, TommyInnit posted a video to his Youtube channel. The video in question is:

In the video, Jumla and Salted first bring them around the developer server than on the build server. After nothing from the video was revealed I brushed it off until now. I was warring when I suddenly thought of the video. At around 12:30 Tubbo_ and TommyInnit get teleported to an area that is currently in development.

This is what I set my sights on.

Now most of this entire part reveals nothing, but at exactly 13:00, what can you see?
    TommyInnit1.png
Probably a lot of people, diamonds, and hey look, Salted.

Try to look closer, maybe up a little, and right in the middle to the left of a cloud. You see the classic top of a mountain in the Wynn or Gavel province. At first you might think this is nothing but this is very important to figuring out what the next area will be.

    TommyInnit2.png

If you couldn't see it, it's right there. A mix of snow and stone blocks, where else do you see that on the map?

    WynnMountains.png

Well... Would you look at that. The exact same type of mountains right next to Ragni. If you look on the map of Wynn, well you'll see this mountain is used to border most, if not all of the area where we expect Fruma to be.

Mountains.png (Sorry for bad quality z.z)

You can see that the entire border for Fruma (Except for the tutorial area) Has the exact same mountains.

All of that info is wonderful but what does this mean? Well, this gives us the evidence of whether the next update will be Fruma or Dern. The evidence shown here greatly suggests that it will be Fruma (if the next update had to be either one, we don't know for sure if it'll be Fruma or Dern yet.)

But why do I think it'll be Fruma and not Dern? Well for that answer, I took a look at the Realm of Light. Considering we take a portal to Dern, one has to assume, like the Realm of Light, it'll also be detached from the map. Which begs the question, if Dern is detached from the map, why would it have these mountains? Well, it wouldn't. (Unless something like the Light Obelisk is in Dern but I find that unlikely considering the mountains and terrain around Lutho is still changed.)

Out of all the updates that everyone thinks are next, I believe only two will have completely new, large areas. Dern and Fruma, and this, is evidence that the next update will be Fruma.

    If you have any thoughts on this I would love to hear them, I would also love spoilers but I don't see that happening anytime soon ;--;

TL;DR: I'm losing my mind and want spoilers

I really do not think next update will be a new area, IMO I strongly think it's a gavel revamp. Also, there's a lot of areas in the CT world that are just for testing and really messing around, it's not really like a confirmed new area. Plus there are a lot of areas in Gavel as well that are much more pointed, the one's around Fruma are much less pointy, whereas the ones in gavel are very pointed.

EDIT: The landscape also looks a lot like Gavel landscapes

A little bit of an oversight lmao. Personally, I also want a gavel revamp (I also want Gavel to be stretched out from 40-100 to 40-115ish) over Fruma or Dern. But not all of the mountains are pointed like the ones seen in the picture. The only mountains I can connect it to are the mountains near the corrupted hand to gert camp. When the team revamped areas previously they kept the landscape, so I don't see why if this was a gavel rework they would be making a huge new area.

Although it looks like it's on the other side of an already built mountain, I did consider it being a new Gavel area but the only two updates that would add an area would be Fruma or Dern (And I mean, Gavel is already huge)

Salted or Jumla did say that, that area wouldn't come out for another year which means it could be the next area in a major update.

And for the last point, we don't currently know what Fruma will look like (Terrain and all, I guess aside from the mountains)

Fruma's definitely the next large map update. If Dern's that small then I would be kinda disappointed.

Eh... It’s definitely not going to be the next update; that area’s still way too early in development to be finished by the time the next update is scheduled.

And it isn’t necessarily Fruma, either. That style of mountain border is used a lot in early Wynn builds; it’s entirely possible that that area is just an expansion of Gavel or Wynn

I could see them expanding Wynn but not Gavel. Gavel is currently too large and too unpolished for them to add another area. Like I said early, I would love to see a Gavel rework where they change a lot of the areas levels to work with a higher level cap. (This is because Gavel is larger than Wynn but 15 levels shorter) If it was a Wynn expansion though I could see it in the possibly see it being in the Jungle or Desert areas.

    I hope both Fruma and Dern are quite large, not the size of Gavel but still, quite sizable. (Even if it has to take way longer than usual for release) I just want spoilers ;--;

I'll be really disappointed if Fruma is decided to be the next major update instead of improvements to Gavel. There's just too much lacking.

What do you want to see out of a Gavel revamp? Just general quest and terrain improvements?

This is what I love about the Wynn community. Finding tiny details in otherwise random and undetailed moments of specific things, piecing it together and then creating a theory on how would fit geographically with the map. That's dedication... or maybe just being starved of content and news for 7 months...

I was too lazy to put more than one quote.

Silent expanse is already huge, so it makes sense that Dern will be a lot lot bigger. Why would the Road to Dern be bigger than Dern itself? Also, I don't think the next update will be map update. I expect it to be more like gameplay update. Building such areas takes a lot of times, while there is also content that needs to be done. We don't know for how long Silent Expanse has been worked on, but by looking at updates list we can clearly see that map updates are done every 3 updates.

    1.14: Gavel update
1.14.1: Gameplay update (ik it's not a major update but it changed quite a lot so imo it should be)
    1.15: Wynnter update
    1.16: Corkus update
    1.17: Dungeons & discoveries update
    1.18: Economy update
    1.19: Silent expanse update

Updates marked as blue are map updates.

And here's how I expect it to be:

    1.19: Silent Expanse
1.20: Gavel revamp + jungle discoveries
    1.21: Fruma

    1.22: Dern

I know, I've said that map updates are generally done every 3 updates, but I think that Fruma has been worked on since Corkus update. They've added Fruma gate and revealed a bit more lore about it. I think that Dern will be next, because it's probably in work for years now. Why do I think it has been worked on for so long? There are many things we know about that are steal not in-game, such as Corrupted Galleon's Graveyard. It has been seen on Grian's Corkus livestream which happened ~4 years ago. A lot of this stuff is worked on a lot earlier than it's actually released.

TL;DR just read it, it's not that long

I thought there were no plans currently to change Gavel? Either way while I do agree that Gavel could use a rework, it may not be the best way to go atm. Wynncraft has been around for awhile now so there’s a lot of veterans out there and stuff like a PvP revamp would have more replay value than a content revamp.

I could see them doing a revamp for Gavel and PvP. Maybe this next update is just a general revamp of a bunch of things that need the attention?

Personally I still have my hopes up that they re-add swarms in some way... Oh well

Haven't they already said that they AREN'T gonna do a gavel revamp?? As much as I'd like to see it, I specifically remember someone said they aren't basing an update purely on revamping gavel, rather they'll do it bit by bit every update.

Yes, they specifically said they weren't going todo a update dedicated to revamping gavel.
They were going to revamp each area at a time.

Also, I agree that this is Fruma, but I think its far to early to be the next update.

Also, I would like to point out that the next update will almost certainly rework the emarld trail. This is all but confirmed at this point
Salted mentioned having plans for the "Second tutorial, also known as the emarld trail." Also at 13:35 you see the miniature map plains being worked on.

In fact, you can already see some of the reworked builds! Including an arch way, and more curroption spikes!

The next update won't be Fruma. The terrain you see in the video might be Fruma, just an alpha version of it. A note on the location of that terrain: it definitely is on the west side of a mountain border. Clouds in Minecraft always move westward, and they move towards the camera as it's facing the mountains, meaning he's looking east towards the other side of the mountains.
