Yes guys, it's time. Quick note: before you comment, read the spoiler at the very bottom.

Bob was one of Wynn’s most memorable figures. He fought countless battles, made many enemies and friends, and was undeniably one of the most prominent figures in Wynn’s history. He lived from 854 AP to roughly 985 AP, when he is presumed to have died sealing away a dark creature, which many believe to be none other than the Eye of the Silent Expanse/Dern. His tomb was discovered in the Nesaak Forest in 985 AP.

Bob was initially called Robert, rather than the name he is known by today. However, many important events lead up to his birth and brought about its strange circumstances.

The portal had been open for a few hundred years by this point, and the war was flattening out into a stalemate, or at least could be described as such. Bak‘al was a name spoken in fear as his fiery destruction ravaged the land. Three of the four Twains were gone, and there were very little defences in place. However, the corrupted armies were just waiting for the time to strike.

The army of undead came “knocking on the front gate” of Ragni, and even Troms was besieged. The corrupteds had waited for this moment and put forward strength that had not been seen before. Bak’al was at the head of the host which marched to Ragni. Ragni still had many soldiers, and many of them sacrificed their lives to allow their families to escape to the one place they could: the sewers. The sewer system of Ragni was large, and was still not safe. However, the residents were safer there than above ground with the corrupted armies, and they settled down for a long wait.

There was a woman there, who didn’t come from ragni, who was pregnant. The women with her tried to help her, but she died in childbirth. The baby, somehow, managed to survive the 6 days in the sewer system. Thus, the boy named Robert had come into the world.
Eventually, the horde left, and the few survivors from the sewers were able to emerge back above ground. Robert was one of them, and was adopted by a poor woman named Momo. She lived on the outskirts of Ragni in a small shack, and Robert was now hers to look after. They managed to just about get by in life. Robert served as a waiter of sorts in the castle, bringing out food and preparing tables for banquets. Whenever he could, he would take a piece of food back to the shack, so that he and his adoptive mother would not go hungry. Then, tragedy struck.

The year was 866 AP, and it was a normal day for Robert, serving at the palace. However, another horde of undead struck the city. Thankfully Bak’al was not among them, but even still, the city had a hard time defending itself. It was still weak after the larger attack and the beacons were not lit soon enough to warn of the impending danger. Robert, after hearing the news, rushed back to his guardian’s shack, but because it was on the outskirts, the undead had already made it this far. Robert slipped in, and heard a cry from the cellar. He descended as sson as he could, and there, pooling in dirt and blood, was Momo. She had slain the zombie that had come to the shack, but she had been infected with corruption before she could take its life. Both she and Robert knew that death would’ve been better for her. She pressed a faded map into the boy’s hands, and pointed to a chest in the corner of the cellar which had previously been locked at all times. And then she took Robert’s hand (still holding the knife), and plunged it into her heart.

Robert, grieving, shocked, and terrified, made his way out of the shack with the map, and a pair of daggers which he had found in the chest. They were black, and glowed with purple runes on the blade. The twin blades were now his. He journeyed east, towards an area on the map that was labelled simply as “1”. It turned out that area was the desert, a sandy wasteland that stretched for miles. And in the middle of the desert, a man stood. He was heavily scarred, but Robert could not guess why.
Seeing the man, he placed the daggers, the only valuable items he had, into his hands. The man spoke to him, saying that he was Chak, master of the assassins, and the first of four masters who would train Robert in everything he needed to know if he was to become Wynn’s saviour.

Thus Robert’s training began. He spent 5 years with Chak, until he was 17. He learned to wield his daggers with ease, and was ready to progress to the next part of his training. Chak told him that he must now learn how to use a very different weapon: the bow. He took the daggers, and they then transformed into a bow, which he strung with one of his own hairs. Robert took his map, and began heading towards where the number “2” was marked out.

He came to the land of Nesaak, which at this time had been long covered in snow. He approached a mansion and saw a second figure standing there. This was Mael, the last of the Twains. Robert spent the next few years with him. As well as learning archery, he came to appreciate the spirits that Mael sent “on”. Robert knew of the corruption’s spread and wondered if he could communicate with his adoptive mother, but never voiced this wish to Mael. At the end of his training, Mael explained that he was now to learn the way of the mage. Mael transformed Robert’s bow into a black rod – a wand.

Robert travelled to the location of the number “3” on his map. He came to Nivla Forest, filled with spiders. He was already a great warrior, and yet the thought of the poison scared Robert, who would never forget his mother’s death. He presented the wand to Ethe, the master of the mages. He began his training with the wand, but the skill did not come to him easily. He had had far more success with the physical arts of knavery and archery, but in time he learned to use the wand. After his magical training concluded, he was 27. Ethe told him that he must now progress to Troms to complete the final part of his training. And then, he would be ready to fight against the enemy. His weapon transformed for the final time – it was now a spear.

Robert had heard the stories. Troms was the greatest stronghold in Wynn, a proud bastion when others failed. But when he arrived, he saw that the city had been under heavy siege from the corruption, and it was not winning the battle. Amidst the smoke and pleading strangers, a man stood, arm outstretched. Robert placed the spear into it. The man greeted him with the words: "This is the final leg of your journey. Let the plights of this town that you see here today force you onward with your training, and help protect this land when you are done. My name is Fier, let us end your training."

Robert began to train with the spear. He made friends and learned to love others, which was a greater skill than even knavery, archery, magic, let alone the extensive skill he had with the spear. In his spare time he helped the citizens to rebuild Troms. A dark shaman, Slykaar, who had been demanding the citizen’s children in return for help and defence, was shamed, and Robert became known as Bob. According to one girl it just sounded nicer.

However, Bob’s training came to an end. He was now the most powerful man in the province. At the end of his time with Fier, all of his masters materialised in front of him, and they were smiling. Bob broke down and wept, but no-one else could see them. Bob knew he had to return to Ragni and bring down the corruption once and for all.
Bob spent the next few years assisting the war effort and became a symbol of hope for the fighters of Wynn. He did not take an apprentice, and maybe the closest to him were his three animal friends: Cluckles, Mooington, and Baab. It was at this time that Bak’al and his armies decided to make a game-changing move. They marched across the river, into Nivla Forest, planning to destroy Ragni once and for all. The forest slowed their progress, and so they burned it. And yet there stood Bob, at the gates of Ragni, bold as brass. He dueled the undead forces, and overpowered them. Bak’al, shocked and amazed, fled into hiding. He was not dead, but had disappeared. He wasn’t the only one who was to disappear though.

Bob vanished in the year 984 AP, and the next year his tomb was found in the snowy expanses of Nesaak. Later, however, sealed letters were uncovered that were written by Bob to a close friend called Nilrem. They spoke of Bob going to seal away a dark creature in a dark land, far away. Some believed this to be the Corrupter of Worlds, but the general consensus is that it was they Eye of the Silent Expanse.

Thus ends the tale of Bob, who gave everything for the sake of the province he loved.

    1) Do the colours of Bob's weapons suggest a relation with Dern?
    2) Was Bob's mother the witherhead?
    3) Are Bob's masters still around?
    4) Does Momo's shack stand?
    5) Is Bob an olm?
    6) Did Bob try to seal away the Eye, the CoW, or the beast of Dern?
    7) Is Bob alive?

So that was topic one of the great lore index. The idea is to write down everything we know about major areas of lore to give findings more context and to be useful sources for theorists in the future. Basically, in the comments I want you guys to write questions about this topic, such as "Do the colours of bob's weapons link them with Dern?". These will be added to the questions list. 2 weeks after this thread, we will organise an event to lorehunt for answers to those questions, and we will try to get answers.

Then we will move onto the other topics and repeat.

Thanks for reading! Please suggest improvements/missed details! Read the above spoiler too!

P.S - I don't want to be one of those people, but this did take me a long time, so please tell me what you thought.

Wow, this is great! I’ll have to do some research to see if any other questions pop up. I also want to suggest a couple spelling changes, such as in the 1st paragraph of Robert’s Training, where “whowould” should be “who would”, and in the 6th paragraph of the same section, where “tiume” should be “time”. Other than that, it looks great.

On the topic of the question “Are Bob’s masters still around?”, I don’t know about the other three but I do know that Mael is in the quest A Grave Mistake, though I’m not sure if he’s a spirit in that quest or actually alive. Maybe the question “Is Mael still alive” would be worth its own answering? Though I’m not sure.

Ok. I'll change those tomorrow, if I remember. Thanks.

Add for Mael, I think that's probably a piece of Twain Lore rather than Bob.

Why not start now? I mean, the questions are here, players can start answering them now and add their questions in this thread.

Also, here's the summary I wrote on the question of "Was Bob's mother the witherhead?":
In A Hero's Origin discovery, there is a grave with the text "May the woman who died here in tonight's raid rest in peace. Though we did not know her name, her memory will live on through her son" this is clearly referring to Bob's mother. There are also some black bones near the grave that lead to the exit, these black bones are similar to what the Witherhead looks like (Black bones). This means that there is a chance that she got revived and got control of the sewers.

Y’know I was pretty confused because I thought for some reason that the whole point of the quest was that Bob faked his own death, but the boss in Reincarnation makes it seem like he did die so I’m very confused overall. Take that with a pinch of salt because I did that quest months ago

I believe that his reincarnation was faked by Nilrem, same with his pets
kinda bad proof: Bob gave part of his power to his pets and pets we find are quite weak

My theory is that Bob faked his own death, only telling Nilrem, then left for the Silent Expanse. But not for the eye. I believe that he entered the Dern Portal and sealed it behind him, then went onwards to challenge the Dern Beast alone. What happened afterwards I do not know, and it may not even have happened yet. And I'd like to point out that Bob is clearly not human if he has survived over 100 years and is still in fighting shape, and the general theory is that he is indeed an Olm.

This might be a lot of extra work but I think that it would be really interesting if you put down where you got each part of the lore. For example, if you got one piece of information from a specific quest, you should write that down. Also, is any of this speculation?

First off, none of this is speculation. There will be more than enough speculation when we answer the questions.

As for the writing where I found each piece of the lore, this is 95% from the Rani Library. I might look into doing something like that later, if I have time.

This is actually fantastic, incredible. You can easily see that your a lore-fanatic, but I think your sheer mental power is worth acknowledging, I mean look at what you've compiled! Can't wait for the other chapters!

As for a question, not sure if this has been asked but did Bob ever train as a Shaman and/or did Bob train as the ranked classes or... ? Then again not sure that last question matters at all.

Shamanism was considered a dark art (yes, a plot hole for our shaman)
Ranked classes are normal classes but retextured, so they have no lore significance

No, Bob never trained as a Shaman. I think the ranked classes are just retextured, so that doesn't matter. Interestingly enough, there was one shaman Bob encountered. This of course was Slykarr.
