Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Temporus thinks for a moment.

"So the other's traversal through the rift has caused this disturbance. I see," Temporus says, "Very well. I can't say I'm entirely familiar with such altering and merging of the past and future, but I'm sure the experience will be...interesting."

 

“You are free to choose whether to be conscious for it and remember, or to forget it with a painless blink of an eye. I cannot promise such courtesy should things fall this way again, however,” Petunia offers, “Either way, you will be left with the memory of the two acknowledgements. Breaking them will quickly steer you back to this anomaly.”

 

"No different from my normal management of time, then. I'm sure you would know how easy it is to make an incorrect move and doom the timeline, no?" Temporus asks.

 

Temporus briefly sees only doomed timelines, before they revert to the way they originally seemed to be.
"Considering my presence is enough to extinguish time, no. I never had the opportunity to see down any timelines, but I presume it's easy given the instability here," Petunia says.

 

Little seems to change in Temporus' perception.

"It's easy to do almost anywhere, all it takes is one minor misstep. My alpha self tries his best to keep things in check; though we splinter often. I suppose you have the advantage of meeting versions like me who are doomed however." Temporus explains.

 

"Your spark of hope died long ago. We all know you have seen no respite from the storm you've been thrown into."

 

"I live through many alternative selves. A loss of true identity and relevancy isn't unknown to me. My job may be unrelenting, but it's my job nonetheless," Temporus says, "Not that anything here matters, as the timeline is essentially doomed."

 

“Better a doomed timeline than your full erasure.”

 

"From all timelines? Certainly, though I sense it shall happen one day." Temporus says, calm.

 

Petunia snickers, unable to hide her amusement.
“You really are incapable of seeing outside of your shoebox, huh?”

 

Temporus just raises an eyebrow, giving Petunia an almost withering look.

 

“You know where this timeline is heading anyways, so I’ll make you an offer beginning with a simple question; how much would you give to know what next comes knocking on your door?” She asks, unaffected.

 

"Everything in this timeline, and this version of myself can offer. There's little else I can offer, and the value of the items here is moot." Temporus says, shrugging.

 

“You said it yourself; the value of such is moot. I mean from the versions of you that will be moving forward - you’ll remember this conversation. You’ll remember what you’re willing to forfeit,” Petunia retorts, “How much of what you will have would you give to know what will befall those of you that still matter?”

 

"I can't offer you anything, then. Such items are subject to their place in time and space, and can be easily removed through a doomed timeline such as this one," Temporus says, "Besides, your influence in giving me knowledge could very likely cause a number of doomed timelines in itself."

 

“My influence will create no more doomed timelines than you searching for a proper course of action. If you are unwilling, then I suppose pressing the matter is equally moot.”

 

"I'd rather not make a deal with the devil that judges us." Temporus says offhandedly.

 

“If that’s what you call your mother behind her back, then I’d rather not know what you call your friends,” Petunia says, seeming a bit surprised.

 

"My mother is dead." Temporus says, blunt.

 

“Wow, someone died while a reality practically reset itself? Who’d have guessed?” Petunia snarks, rolling her eyes, “But you’re the only god here that knows that’s not quite the case. Not since the cycle, at least.”
