Community Event Rank Wynncraft's Non-city/town Locations!

Hello!

Whenever a "what's your favorite area" thread pops up, I feel like the overworld of Wynncraft is often ignored in favor of the big cities. This has made me wonder: what does the community really think of the regions that make up the world of Wynn? In the past, I did a "survey" on what the community's favorite city is, and the result wasn't very surprising. But apart from cities, what does the community consider to be the best (and worst) areas?

I've decided to create a community ranking all of the major areas in Wynncraft from best to worst, since my own personal ranking would be biased. In the comments, you'll submit a form stating your 5 favorite and least favorite non-city locations. But before we begin, I need to list what I consider to be all of the major areas in the game:

Wynn:

• The Emerald Trail
• Nivla Woods
• Coastal Trail (included Mt. Wynn and the surrounding plains)
• Detlas Suburbs (the area with ruined buildings and Barley farms)
• Pigman's Ravines
• Time Valley
• Misc. Wynn Plains (includes the Corrupted Village and Black Road)
• Roots of Corruption
• Abandoned Mines
• Ancient Nemract AND Nemract Cathedral/Graveyard
• Pirate Bay
• Savannah
• Desert
• Mesa
• Nesaak Tundra
• Ice Canyon
• Twain's Lake
• Jungle AND Troms Outskirts

Ocean:

• Grand Coastline (the coast surrounding the entire ocean, includes Fruma's gate and Jofash docks)
• Skein's Island
• Ice Islands
• Maro Peaks
• Volcanic Isles

• Half-Moon Island
• Dead Island
• Mage Island
• Northern Corkus (Home to the Avos)
• Southern Corkus (Home to Relos and the Fallen Factory)

• Pre-Light Forest (I'm only counting the area to the east of the giant river)
• Dark Forest

• Cinfras County (The area surrounding Cinfras)

• Lake Gylia AND Gert Camps
• Canyon of the Lost: Thanos Region (CotL near Thanos, includes the Hive, Ozoth's Spire, and Cherry Blossom Area. Home to Phoenixes and Dragonlings)
• Canyon of the Lost: Bantisu Region (CotL near Bantisu, is where the quests Beyond the Grave and The Lost take place. Home to the Elefolk)
• Canyon of the Lost: Eltom Region (CotL near Eltom, is where the quest Cowfusion takes place)
• Molten Heights (Upper and Lower)
• Sky Islands
• The Void

Silent Expanse:

• Entrance to the Expanse AND Ruined Olmic City
• Eyeball Forest
• Toxic Wastes
• Void Valley (Includes area past Eldritch Outlook)

Rather than doing a bracket-style competition, which always drags on for too long, I've decided to rank these locations based on your 5 favorites and least favorites. Eventually, I will post the results and final rankings in a new thread. All you need to do is fill out the following form:

Highest level class: archer lv. 105

Most:
Time Valley
Ruined Olmic City
Nesaak Tundra
Molten Heights
Void Valley (which is severely underused, like SE itself)

Least:
Toxic Wastes (it isn't bad, I just think it doesn't fit into the SE)
Realm of Light (I think it should never be released and remain a mystery (Dern too))
Zhight Island (damned tourists)
REMOVED: Pirate Cove (mistaken gor Pirate Bay) Now I can't get 5th least favourite

Nearly every area that isn't on this list is amazing, they just are not here

I'll rank my favourite places within each category aswell and then do a summary

Wynn:
1. Emerald Trail [ Cool buildings ]
2. Nivla Woods [ I really like trees ]
3. Time Valley [ No particular reason I just enjoy the vibe there ]
4. Neesak Tundra [ Again, cool vibe + snow ]
5. Abandoned Mines [ It's near Silent Expanse and has some significance in terms of lore ]

Ocean:
1. Southern Corkus [ Just epic, I love Corkus]
2. Northern Corkus [ ^ ]
3. Zhight Island [ Funny meme ]
4. Misc Islands [ Mage Island's updated build style is very pretty. I salute whoever made it ]
5. Grand Coastline [ It's just cool ]

Gavel:
1. Light Forest [ Super pretty and I still like trees ]
2. Realm of Light [ So much wasted potential, I like RoL but not the quests there ]
3. Sky Islands [ Floating islands are cool, Ahmsord architecture is also nice ]
4. Molten Heights [ It's a bit generic but I really enjoy DnD quests ]
5. Canyon of the Lost (Hive Region) [ Hive is cool, Thanos is nice. ]

Silent Expanse:
1. Eyeball Forest [ Cool trees ]
2. Void Valley [ Just cool surroundings ]
3. Entrance to SE [ Cool atmosphere
4. Toxic Wastes [ Bottom of my SE list but still very solid, I like a lot of the techniques used ]

Favourites:
1. Emerald Trail [ Cool buildings, cool atmosphere, though the path towards Ragni is not as great ]
2. Eyeball Forest [ Pog eyeball trees!! I love them ]
3. Light Forest [ Mm just very cool, beautiful trees and atmosphere ]
4. Southern Corkus [ I have no reason, but I love Corkus ]
5. Nivla Woods [ Trees!! pog. ]

Stinkers:
1. Llevigar Plains [ The houses are pretty bland, doesn't really have anything interesting ]
2. Maro Peaks [ It's just irrelevant and boring ]
3. Desert [ Don't really find the desert interesting, I wish there was more to do and explore. It's honestly not that bad but I just dislike how much more there could be ]
4. Cinfras County [ I don't like the build style :( ]
5. Lake Gylia + Gert Camps [ Well, Lake Gylia feels very frozen in time and boring, whilst the Gert Camps are just absolutely nothing special. ]

I probably put far more effort into this than I should have, but I really liked the idea of this thread.

 

Most:
Southern corkus (because Fallen Factory is my favorite dungeon)
Ice canyon
Sky Islands
Void valley
Nesaak Tundra

Least:
Dernel
Dark forest
Toxic wastes
Pirate cove
Aldorei valley (I think I've been here once and it wasn't very memorable)

how can corkus get 2 locations to itself but 90% of the islands are jammed into one group

My highest class is only a 71 archer, so I haven't been to a lot of these places yet :( but here's my list!
Favorite:
1. Sky Islands (accidentally went there once, long story) although the void was terrifying, I love the design and the wybels! Can't wait until I'm at-level to explore it more
2. Jungle\Troms outskirts, because I've been spending the most time there, I like the monsters and loot chests, and just an interesting and aesthetic area
3. Emerald Trail, because it brings back early game memories, and because it was mt first real intro to professions bc I skipped the new tutorial by accident
4. Ancient Nemract\Cathedral, because of the epic builds! especially the underworld crypt entrance with the tree and ruined coliseum, as well as the cathedral itself
5. Durum Isles, because it was my intro to boss altars, and I could just put on a podcast and farm without worrying about mobs
Least favorite:
1. Maro Peaks. Hate this place. Died so many times, caused so much stress, and the quests involved weren't even worth it. Need the dumb helmet. Doesn't even look cool.
2. Twain's lake. Caused me so much grief doing house of twain. The mobs are hard for an archer to hit and did too much damage. Had to come back with reinforcements 15 levels later just to do that quest (although by then I was op)
3. Dark Forest. Uninteresting, too many mobs, confusing layout
4. Nivila Forest. Aside from maro peaks and ice barrows, this is where I hold the most deaths. Too many spiders for a poor low level like me at the time, would get swarmed and couldn't kill them fast enough. Always had to go around for everything, so it took forever until I got the detlas fast travel
5. Llevigar Plains. Just boring. No cool builds, uninteresting mobs, and those annoying goblins.

Class: Level 86 Archer

TOP 5 LOCATIONS:
1. Roots of Corruption
-I don't know about you guys, but I like the dark and sinister vibe this place gives off. It fits in seamlessly with the terrain around it, and I especially like the giant obsidian spikes.
2. Sky Islands
-I know for a fact how hard it is to build good looking, natural floating islands, but the build team pulled it off flawlessly.
3. Molten Heights
-Similar to the Roots of Corruption, but I put it lower because of how easy it is to just fall into lava and die, and the fact that Maex needs to be removed.
4. Emerald Trail
-There's not really one specific thing that makes this location stand out, it just IS good. It gives the player a good impression of the game when they see it.
5. Twain Lake
-By far the spookiest area in the game, most of the location is full of crypts and graveyards. The personalities of all the Twains intertwine here to form a wonderful location.

BOTTOM 5 LOCATIONS:
46. Lost Canyon Eltom Region
-I cannot count the number of times I have gotten lost here and used /kill. Just no.
47. Rymek Canyon
-Similar to Lost Canyon, the Rymek Canyon gets you lost easily.
48. Realm of Light
-The only location here that isnt a canyon, the Realm of Light is just so unfinished. It has so much potential, but it doesnt live up to the hype.
49. Lost Canyon Bantisu Region
-No.
50. Lost Canyon Thanos Region
-No.​

 

Just a heads up, I added the Void unlocked after 1000 Meters Under to the list since I forgot about it, not sure if this will change any of your responses.

 

my personal favorite location was subsumed into an overall subpar grouping, the location being Regular Island, but because of the ocean size distributions it was not marked as its own area and thus will not be in the list, because overall i dislike most of the misc. islands

not actually sure how this next list plays out, based on wording. it says top 5 least favorite locations, which, based on wording, seems to be asking you to rank them from your favorite -> least favorite, but i am not sure, so i'll disclaimer that i am counting 5 as my most hated area and 1 as my 5th most hated area.

1. coastal trail

Top 5 LEAST FAVORITE AREAS:
1. realm of light
2. kander forest
3. aldorei valley
4. canyon of the lost: bantisu region
5. mesa

these aren't really in order, i kinda just rushed it together lol

 

Highest Level Class: 101 Assassin

Top 5:
1. Aldorei Valley
(Something about this place makes me wanna live there)
2. Light Forest
(I just love foresty places, especially pretty ones like this one)
3. Sky Islands
(Normal islands are cool enough, but floating ones are even COOLER)
4. Misc. Islands
(A nice place to have a vacation IMO)
5. Dernel Jungle
(A jungle with epic ruins and danger... Spicy)

Bottom 5:
1. Mesa
(Kinda annoying to get around)
2. Llevigar Plains
(Plains are just... Plain)
3. Ancient Nemract
(This place is just depressing)
4. Dark Forest
(Also depressing, but also spooky)
5. Olux Swamps
(Not really a big fan of swamps)

Not gonna lie though, all these places are neat. Good job Build Team

I gotta say though, i have way more favorite areas than 5 but i listed my absolute loved ones.
I would've put the entirety of SE in favorites but i have to give some of the other areas some love.

 

hey level 105 assassin here I actually don't like any of the non-citys, so I'll rate the most favorite by which area is the most tolerable.


The ones I hate the least
1. Llevigar Plains: Very flat space which is good for horses, that's really it
2. Ruined Olmic City: Cool aesthetics, but road to lutho is too long (add fasttravel from detlas to lutho please)
3. Eyeball forest: ruined olmic city but mobs spawn here and I hate it
4. Void valley: also cool I guess
5. Toxic wastes: void valley but pathogenesis spawns here and I hate it

The ones I hate the MOST
5. Rymek Mesa: annoying to get around here. the quest here makes it a bit tolerable though. (on my first class i did tribal aggresion before the Svin quest though and i spent 2 hours just climbing up the cliffs so i hate this place i can NOT Believe ESI chose to own this garbage area)
4. Maro peaks/RoL place/RoL quest: you need to wear special helmets just to access these places. why.
3. Bantisu temple: because its the quest where you need to guide the idiot to the other idiot without the first idiot going full rambo and making you restart the whole thing
2. Dernel jungle: LAG. AND MOBS. AND ALSO ITS SO HARD TO NAVIGATE. I DID JEWELING 60-70 WITHOUT PROF BOMBS AND I HAD TO GET KOI HERE BECAUSE THE 10 NODES AT GELIBORD IS TOO SLOW. gg and ur keys spawn here though so it's not #1
1. Sky islands: OK IF YOU USE A HORSE HERE YOURE JUST ASKING TO FALL INTO THE VOID. ALSO WHY DO YOU DIE WHILE FALLING INTO THE VOID? ISNT IT ESTABLISHED THAT THERE ARE VOID ISLANDS BELOW AHMSORD? WHY DO YOU NOT SURVIVE HORSES ARENT AFFECTED BY FALL DAMAGE I KEEP DYING HERE I HATE THIS PLACE.

1. Molten Heights - Rodoroc is my favorite city and the surrounding areas like the dragons and skeletons are amazing
2. Troms outskirts and Jungle - I just really like the style and quests in this area (totally not biased because I am in ANO)
3. Sky Islands - the design of all of the islands and the work blow my mind. Even something like the bridges are phenominal
4. Northern Corkus - I love the Avos and their designs and I really enjoy the lore and secret discoveries here as well.
5. Aldorei Valley - never ever visit here but I absolutely love the design

Top 5 LEAST FAVORITE AREAS (from my list of areas shown above):
(least favorite overall) 1. llevigar plains - sooooo boring, really bad quests and the atmosphere just sucks
2. olux swamp - just slightly better than llevigar area and suffers for the same reason
3. dark forest - when we get here it gets better but same thing as olux and llevigar areas.
4. Karoc Quarry, same thing as llevigar area and the quests are bad, better because there is ??? quest here.
5. Zhight Island - just no, just no

Highest Level Class: Archer 105

Favorites:
1. Sky Islands - The Sky Islands look really nice, i also like the Trees
2. Void Valley - I love the Eldritch Outlook, it look so cool, the rest of the Valley is also very nice
3. Canyon of the Lost: Bantisu Region - I like the Bantisu Temple and the Terrain of the surrounding Area
4. Ruined Olmic City - I like the Ruins of the City and the ominous abscence of monsters, i also really like the Cathedral
5. Dernel Jungle - The Trees look Amazing and i also like the Ruins

Least Favorite:
1. Realm of Light - The only reason it exists is lore and a bad Quest, i think there is a lot to improve about the Realm of Light, also its just a lot of roads and Mushrooms
2. Lake Gylia and Gert Camps - The Gert Camps and other Builds around the Area look quite outdated, i don't really like the way Gavel building were built using "slab spam"
3. Cinfras County - Same issues as Lake Gylia, but i also think the Cinfras County is kinda lacking some points of interest
4. Llevigar Plains - There is not a lot in the Llevigar Plains except the occaisional farm house and orc camp
5. Savannah - There isn't much to do in the Savannah except getting yeeted by ocelots at a low level
