Gen. Suggestions Section

This thread is mainly for people that reply in General Suggestions section (and for some unnamed players too).

Guys, I understand that some suggestions (mostly made by newbies) are bad, really bad. But that DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU HAVE TO BE TOXIC!!!
That only insults them and discourages from further suggestions, which might be actually good.

I understand that some of the suggestions are proposed too often (classes, housing etc.), undetailed, not needed, unrealistic or just stupid. That usually means they don't know that it was disapproved multiple times or how to do it correctly.

Please be kind to them, they have feelings too. Show them their mistake, tell them how to improve it, don't just say "This is stupid idea, f*** off"

Mesage for Website team: Create some form for suggestions like you did for Bug Reports. I am planning to put it on general suggestion soon.

It's just questioning what the purpose of this thread is. It's not necessarily for a bad cause, but if you acknowledge that people don't listen to official guidelines, I don't see how hearing the same from community would change things

 

I hope that at least somebody will listen, either somebody already toxic or who might become toxic over time.
Also I am sure no one read it or paid attention to it.

 

Firstly, people who post threads like that are subtly disrespecting the content team by not putting any originality or effort into their post, so these people aren't exactly "innocent", if you compare this to the toxicity in the HSB forums to people who get scammed, they are not similar at all. While on HSB the comments are often mocking, belittling and acting as if the OP's situation is insignificant, even if the OP's thread is written in a normal matter. What I see on General Suggestions though comes off as either heavily sarcastic, mildly annoyed or at the very most passive aggressive, it doesn't border on toxic though.

I agree, we have to be more mindful of them since most of the "bad" suggestions come from newbies or simply people who are excited.
The main reason that some people might result in being a bit ruder is probably the wording of the thread (or the polls) as we can see in the recent thread. There are also threads that are simply stupid or too much unrealistic, but these kinds of threads mostly result in memes.

 

Agreed.
It should be pretty obvious when a thread is just a bad idea opposed to when a thread is just someone being lazy - in both instances the community shouldn't be toxic.
On the whole, though, this community is one of least toxic in Minecraft.

Honestly, I think the best we can do right now is just to not be toxic ourselves. If each of us puts a bit of constructive criticism towards bad ideas, others will see that and maybe 5% will copy us. That might not sound like a lot, but if 5% more copy that 5%, and then 5% more copy that 5%, and so on, we have a community of constructive criticism, right?

 

The anti-toxicity thread ends up making more toxicity than the some-what toxic threads mentioned. I mean, what are the chances, then again it is a forum going against the actions of others, so I guess I should have expected that?

Joke aside, you bring up a good point that more people do need to learn tolerance and respect. Good on you!
