"Well several people have ventured on their own into the North. And there was Journey 2. None have ever come back so the Detinu Provinces and Panami Nation agreed to make expeditions north illegal. Konyu remained as an unimportant city and ended up like this, a poor man's town."

CC: Opposition is broken and the knight can now jump to e2 and protect the king.


CC: Knight attacks the last pawn.

CC: Opposition is achieved assuming that the white king is forced to move away before black defends his last pawn. However, this is a tragic blunder.

"Check!" Fireza looks incredibly proud. "It's a draw!"

Aliruja looks at the board and says, "Wow." Then he tells Mikos, "This is basically saying the outcome of your future is unknown.

CC: This is a draw. Chess engine evaluation is +0.3 for white. Aka, white has an advantage equivalent of 0.3 pawns.

A few more moves are played.



CC: Opposition is achieved.

CC: The knight attacks the black king forcing it away from opposition. This is why this is a draw. The knight can stop the black king from getting opposition. It's impossible to drive the white king to the corner.




Fireza then extends his hand and his father shakes it. It's declared a draw.

Aliruja then asks Mikos, "So you think you came from the north? If I were you, I wouldn't go north straight away once the time barriers fall. You weren't planning on doing that, right?"

"I work for a gang owner with a personal grudge against Stacked Deck. Stacked Deck messed with his family. All of them. Dead," this person has a weird way of speaking. "My boss took interest in you because Stacked Deck is creating multiple viruses to spread across the Creak population. The only reliable way to deal with these viruses is you. But the only way to keep you alive is to get you out of the country. That's step one before dealing with the virus."

What now?

No. I don't know how old you are nor do I care.

Midas realizes the amulet isn't actively searching through his thoughts for his age so it seems the amulet truly doesn't care.

You're a bad person, that's all I need to know.

Maybe you can talk to the teenage girl for advice on how to be a good person.

Sorry I tend to go inactive in games like this randomly, especially when I don't know what to do next like this.
Uh... I don't know, really. Ask the woman what type of currency she accepts...?

That's one of my problems as a GM, crafting responses like these where it's hard to respond to or maintain interest.

"Daws and Bures," the woman replies. Nico or Will have never heard of a currency like that.

Jay understands the confusion and says, "I can pay for their rent, if they want to stay here." Jay glances over to Nico and Will. It would probably be a good idea to stick with Jay since he's a healer, speaks English, and can bypass the language barrier.

Nico and Will accept Jay's offer. The woman asks, "One room or two rooms?"

 

"And how many steps does this plan of yours have?"

 

Thats the thing gary I can't die (he can) so you and me are in for the long haul. Now We should No each other better this is not a Jafar situation as I don't want you but I think if we knew eachother better we would be better friends

 

"Seven. I'm only allowed to tell you one step at a time. You can meet and ask my boss personally if you want to at 37 Nickelion Street." That's not actually far from your house. In fact, Nickelion Street is on the way from your house to the hospital. "Are you interested in accepting my offer?" the man asks putting his smoke pipe away.

I can't die. I'm an inanimate object. And I can wait as long as I want because you're going to encounter the totem wielder soon enough anyway.

Midas feels the amulet leave his conscious mind. The amulet has gone to sleep. Midas should probably prepare to cross the time barriers before they fall tomorrow. Or he could try to pester the amulet more.

"Don't have much of a choice. I either accept or wait for death." I look back from where i came "I should probably pick up the scanner first."

 

"No no, not immediately. Too many unknowns for that. At the very least, I'd observe the area for a bit before even thinking of going through a notoriously deadly area. Ideally, I'd also gather more information from any and all institutions that took part in the Journey expedition, but that may take too long travel-wise. As for my origins... I don't know if I specifically came from the north, but I highly suspect that I am tied to the north in one way or another. It's too soon to assume anyone lives out there, so at the moment, I might have something to do with the lost Journey expeditions."

 

There will be a lack of responses this week and a load of responses the following weeks. I got to do stuff regarding academics.

Honestly, if I were a person, I would much rather do good in my life, die, and be forgotten rather than do evil in my life and cause the deaths of a lot of people, die, and be remembered for evil deeds. You think that just by taking Notingburg, you will be remembered after death and all it cost was a few thousand deaths. You forgot to realize that you're going to go to war and millions of people will die. Not only that, but you don't feel any guilt for killing anyone. The only guilt you've shown is retreating when army losses become high. But that's just strategy. This war is impersonal to you and you're the one who started it.

Now I'm going to tell you something that benefits both of us. You don't need to die in order to give me to another person. I am a fragment of the eye totem. If the wielder of the eye totem were near you, I would fuse with the eye totem. Then, we don't have to exist with each other.

What now?

The young adult suddenly becomes alert. "Wait exactly 10 seconds." You listen to him and stay where you are and count to 10 seconds. About 5 seconds pass and a teenager runs exasperatingly through the intersection of alleyways. Two older teenage kids run after him. They run out of sight into the alleyway to the right. Moments later, you hear a blast of fire followed by the dousing of water. Then you hear another blast of fire followed by another dousing of water except with screaming in pain this time. The two older teenage kids are torturing the younger teenager.

"Those are teenagers from smaller gangs under Stacked Deck," the man says. "The younger one is probably a traitor."

You reach 10 seconds in your head and the screaming is gone. You hear the sound of a body being dragged on the floor.

"You can get your scanner now."

Perhaps, but it's not too late to try and help the poor young teenager out.

What now?

"You sure?" Aliruja starts. "The Journey expeditions started around 40 years ago and... not sure how old you are but you either were a baby or not even alive when Journey began."

Mikos hears the sound of a television turning on and sees that the kid has turned on the TV to watch the news. Maybe that means the wifi is back up.

The news seems to be depicting a battle between two armies... no not a battle, a siege. There's a quick transition to a sign reading "Notingburg DC - Detinu Capital." So there was a siege on Detinu Province's capital. A news reporter then says Notingburg's army received heavy losses but so did Midas's army... Midas is probably the name of the leader of the siegers. It's reported that Notingburg lost and the owner of the Eye Amulet (word is italicized to stir Mikos’s memory) died to an artillery assault after the first siege. Mikos zones out.

For some reason, as soon as he heard the words “Eye Amulet,” the words time, totems, and knowledge began to repeat in his head.

What now?

 

"I can't just leave the kid to death" i'll run in the direction of the sounds

 

I ask gary
"Why can't she come to me?"

 

You run and turn into the alleyway to the right. No one's there but the alleyway goes left. You run down the alleyway and turn left and find the two older teenagers dragging the unconscious younger teenager. Noticing your frantic / vigilant look, both of the teenagers release the unconscious kid.

You heard fire blasts and the dousing of water moments ago so one of the teenagers is a fire elementalist and the other is a water elementalist.

There are a couple barrels of water lying around in the alleyway. It's also raining. There's plenty of water for you and the water elementalist.

The taller of the two teenagers lunges forward with a fire plume. You dodge it but it's quickly followed up by the other teenager with a water blast formed by the rain in front of him.

What now?

[ One Second Reaction Time ]

She has a couple problems. First, the north is very very cold. Travelers venturing north have died due to the cold weather. To make matters worse, she is a fire elementalist with a rare weakness of being extremely weak to cold temperatures. About 1/77.89 fire elementalists have this weakness. Second, she just escaped the futuristic city with her friend who was also teleported with her. They are going to be hunted down by troops with futuristic and high advanced guns. She is a fire elementalist and a bow weapon master whose powers are amplified by both totems, but neither of the totems let her have control over them. Her friend is a young but powerful shardaic mage but his ability to use teleport shards has been compromised. This is because the futuristic city is very good at limiting the power of teleportation magic. Third, ... they're teenagers. Do you really expect them to be able to survive?

 

I'll try to dodge to the right and also move the water left so it doean't have a chance to get to me

 

The water doesn’t go left but you still avoid getting hit by moving right.

The fire elementalist follows with another fire plume. You also notice that the fire plumes are slightly weakened by the rain.

What now?

 

Seeing as the fire elementalist isn't that big of a threat I'll try to raise the water elementalist body temperature to 45 degrees celsius (a high fever is around 39-42) hopefully this will make him pretty much useless

 

You ignore the fire plume and focus on raising the body temperature of the water elementalist. The fire plume hits you and your slight fire immunity kicks in a little bit. All the plume does to you is warm you up. The water elementalist quickly follows up with another water blast. It seems that the two teenagers alternate attacks at a rapid pace. However, this time the blast is severely lesser in force and speed and so you decide to absorb the hit to be more intimidating. The blast hits you and it would probably be better to rename the water blast to water splash.

The water elementalist is beginning to sweat extraneously despite the cold temperatures. They will definitely be sick after this battle.

The fire elementalist realizes his fire plume won’t do anything so he creates a fireball and launches it at you. The water elementalist begins forming ice shards in the air preparing to shoot them once you deal with the fireball.

What now?
