Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I don't know who created you, but you have certainly been touched by the Paradox Mother. Praecantatia and Stephanie's anchors don't work here - apparently, only yours. There is no clearer sign." Pierre says, turning a page and starting to write furiously.
"You... should be able to open a gate that would reduce the travel time even further than Silver's hypernull tunnel. I implore you speak with The Golden Queen and learn to Voidwalk." He says, handing her a note that appears to be a letter of recommendation.

 

"I'm...not a paradox," Imp-chan says, looking the letter over, "I just wanted to see how things were here so...I did. I'm still learning magic, though."

"She just appeared in hell one day and Mortius told us to look after her." The succubus that retrieved Imp-chan says happily, patting Imp-chan on the head.

 

"You're a paradox." A young girl's voice echoes from above.

Pierre looks up, drawing a hardlight shield.
"I'm not here to fight, lower your arms." The draconian girl says, a dark pulsating heart illusion fading in and out with static around her.
"I'm afraid you may not accept that letter." She says, looking straight at Imp-Chan's third eye.

 

The girl is met with an unsettling aura as Imp-chan's third eye opens to gaze at her, a force attempting to invade her mind.

"Oh, ok." Imp-chan says, shrugging and offering the letter to the girl. Imp-chan seems to try and leaf through her tome at the same time, but with only one hand available, she just sort of turns it around a bit.

 

An equivalent force counteracts the force within, though the note seems to vanish with the girl's illusionary heart.
"Do say hello to Lady Praecantatia for me, she's a much better cook than Tenebrae." She says, before vanishing.

Pierre seems irked, but simply sighs and starts writing furiously again.
"Two children of the Paradox Mother active at once...? I suppose she never was one to adhere to the rules..." He mutters.

 

Imp-chan starts looking through her tome again, seemingly inspired by the illusionary magic, before writing a few runes in the air and whispering.

Imp-chan's curled hair-horns seem to be replaced with black cat ears, her teeth begin to more closely resemble those of a feline, and a black tail appears behind her.

"Nya!" Imp-chan says, striking a cute pose and facing the crowd of demons. Most of the demons either laugh or are enthralled by Imp-chan, a few petting her head like they would a real cat.

 

Pierre sighs, taking a few more notes before stepping back.
"Unless you show a reason to need constant supervision, you lot are welcome to settle into the living quarters. Keys are left on the doors, any further copies will be provided when the guards come by to get your names." He announces.

 

Imp-chan's cat-like features disappear as she notices the crowd's attention shift to Pierre, before they begin to head to the living quarters. At the blink of an eye as a demon passes by her, Imp-chan disappears again; leaving no trace as if she was never even there to begin with.

A few groups of demons seem to discuss a party to socialise with the others, including the guardians. The guardians, however, mostly seem interested in their card games and organising groups for work.

 

Nobody else comes within view for two hours, until a guard simply peeks into the common area while heading towards the nearby spire.

 

A few groups of guardians seem to be holding a card game tournament, and a few demons socialise with the guardians that don't wish to play. Not much else seems to be happening though, both parties settling in to their new lifestyle.

 

A trio of guards shows up another couple hours later, all of them humans in mostly white robes with clipboards and papers in hand.
"Ah..."
"I was assuming Pierre added a zero to his head count..." Two of them utter.
"No matter, the number of guests changes little. If either one of you want to run back to grab the other forms?" The third asks.
"I've got it." The first says, running off.
"Alright then... where to begin?" The second asks.

The third simply walks towards the center of the common area, clearing his throat.
"Pardon the interruption, but my colleagues and I will be coming around to each of you to take note of a few of the basics about you. I don't mean to offend anyone with the simplicity of the questions posed; it's simply paperwork." He calls. "If you would rather come to us, we will get settled near the benches near the entryway. Otherwise, once we fetch enough forms we'll start doing rounds. Please note anyone who doesn't get recorded here, there will be a second round for those of you who opted to take a well deserved rest after your trip."

 

The third guard gains the attention of all the groups in the common area, though he ends up causing a stir between them.

 

He sighs.
"We'll just come around." He calls. "If you could also note your room number when we get to you, we'll get the extra keys so everyone in your room has their own."

 

The guardians and demons start shifting around, forming different groups of presumably their roommates.

 

The three guards simply go around and asking for each guardian and demon's name, gender, age, elemental affinity, and room number.
They seem to keep a respectful distance from the guests, but a few of the keener demons note that the humans appear to have some sort of armor or equipment below their robes and on top of their other clothes, albeit not quite exoskeleton-esque armor.

 

Most of the guardians and demons answer with fairly standard answers, though there appear to be a few unique hybrid guardians, as well as special guardians - one answering their affinity to be with metal, and another acid. As for the demons, some stand out as uniquely powerful, and don't appear to fit with the species of the rest - some claiming a place of championship in hell's colosseum.

"What sort of armour are you wearing?" One of the forest guardians asks after being questioned.

 

The guard seems confused for a bit, looking up from their notes.
"Armor? I... oh, you mean the limiters? I'm getting pretty close to the next title in the coliseum. The toughest opponent in the rank-up trial suppresses elemental affinities, so I'm trying to get used to working without mine. If I get through it first try, I'll be eligible to work in The Mirage Palace itself!" He says, seeming rather personable.

 

"You can't use your powers? That seems a little...cruel." The forest guardian says, sounding sympathetic.

 

"It was my own doing. I'd rather get used to fighting without them now than try and figure it out in the middle of an arena bout." The guard says, a bit confused. "I don't have much of an affinity to begin with, though. Nothing close to what your kind has, at least."

 

"But if you were given such a gift, to take it away would be to take away a part of yourself. What sort of fights are they hosting?" The forest guardian says, sounding hurt.
