As you might know, recipes for items that are similar to most mythics have been figured out (in fact, they're usually better since they deal more damage). I'm wondering if you should be able to craft mythics in the first place.

On one hand, professions are very grindy, and the promise at the end is that you're able to create virtually any item you want. Taking away the ability to create some of the most powerful items in the game would make professions simply not worth it. Also, the durability limitation prevents these items from fully equating mythics.

On the other hand, mythics are very rare items (1/150k-ish chance from a loot chest), so they should very well be worth their rarity and be unmatchable in power. Being able to craft these weapons simply makes this kind of rarity unjustified.

I'm not sure what I think, so I wanted to open a thread to discuss this topic.

I think it's fine for a case-by-case basis as it is curently: crafteds excel at stacking one or two IDs to ridiculous heights, so a mythic like Spring that cares about MR and % dmg can easily be replicated and improved with a crafted bow. Meanwhile, a more complex weapon like Freedom or Warp are irreplaceable. 1.19 (i think was the patch?) made a lot of mythics more complex with spell cost IDs and such that Crafteds can't replicate but I believe that every single Mythic should have a Major ID. For instance, Az should be be able to use multiple powder specials at once, Spring should reduce the healing/regen of targets hit by melee, stuff that fits the item's lore.

It’s not really “crafting mythics”, my guy. It’s just having a recipe that replicates 1 or 2 stats of a mythic.

No. Mythics as a concept are part of the reason why the game is still alive.

They're a necessary evil that keep the playerbase and economy from dying.

Well you'll never be really able to replicate the best mythics (freedom, cata, warp). I feel like the option to craft weaker mythics/less special mythics (spring, tcrack, other stuff) instead of having to buy one outright presents a great option for newer players that might not have that much money so that they can somewhat compare to more experienced players who have the funds to buy a stronger mythic. It also helps wealthier players save money by spending money on a crafted item instead of a mythic that they might rarely use. Really a win win scenario for anyone that doesn't own mythics that can be replicated. Even then, those mythics can still sell with a little bit of effort and negotiation.
