Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Almost all guardians seem repulsed by the idea of shedding their old lives, though they seem comforted by the reassurance that they can continue to worship Gaia.

 

Silver starts walking again.
"Well, that's it for now. I'd bring you to The Golden Queen's castle, but... I don't think I want to draw her ire quite that much. Anyone ready to settle down for a couple days?"

 

"We've gotta do that initiation trial now, right?" One of the demons queries, sounding unenthusiastic about the concept.

 

“Not right off. Four hours to settle down in your temporary quarters, and then a guard will come down looking for your name, age, species, and gender. Joke around for this, and you might just be sent back before sunset.” Silver sighs. “Initiation won’t begin until tomorrow, but believe me when I say it won’t be too hard. Most of it is stuff you could derive from just overhearing a conversation; don’t slander the gods, don’t damage property that isn’t yours, comply with guards regardless of whether or not you think they can actually do anything about you, and other basics. Above all else; don’t try to force your beliefs on someone else.”

 

"Well, yeah, obviously we're not going to force our beliefs on anyone," An incubus says, "So long as they don't force their beliefs on us."

Most of the guardians seem to be in agreement on the topic too, though none being too vocal.

 

“That’s the whole point of initiation, but you have to realize that there are going to be metaphorical bad apples here. Think of it like home; there’s always going to be a few problem people.”

 

The entire group of guardians and demons seem to give each other shifty eyes, as if trying to figure out who's likely to go first.

"Do we get a say on who goes?" A slime demon asks.

 

"What do you mean, who goes? You're all going." Silver asks, seeming confused.

 

"I mean, who gets kicked out." The slime demon clarifies.

 

"If you want to go back, just say so and spare us the trouble." Silver says, still a bit confused. "I suppose you do get some say, seeing as there'll be a hearing before you're sent back. For the most part, the final decision falls solely on me."

 

The demons talk with each other for a bit, before settling down.

"Can we start the initiation?" A water guardian asks.

 

"I'm afraid that my council needs another day. You might be able to get one of the guards to give you a rundown, but we weren't quite expecting anybody this soon." Silver admits, landing in a courtyard with prisms illuminating the walkways.
"Anyhow, welcome to my kingdom. A reminder that you'll be stuck here for three days, but after that you'll be welcome to go off and get your own place... not that I'd mind it if someone stayed."

Slate and Cream shift the upholstery to form walkways off of Silver's back, Cream bowing to the passengers before stepping back to Slate's idle position.

 

A lot of the demons rush off of Silver, some climbing over others in the process, while the guardians take a more reserved and respectful approach. Almost everyone stretches once they're off, however.

 

As they get off, the subtle flowery scent of the courtyard sets in. It's hardly noticeable to even the most sensitive demon or guardian, but a (very) gentle breeze and a neutral smell under a slightly cloud-covered sun makes the atmosphere both incredibly mediocre and universally pleasant.

Silver sighs.
"Don't forget your stuff." He says, noticing a few of the demons having left their bags behind.

 

The demons scramble back to grab their things again, once again climbing over each other. Many of the guardians seem to take in the environment for a bit, enjoying the atmosphere.

 

The calm seems only slightly contrasted by the occasional guard blur by the halls visible from the grand entryway.

"I do ask you be respectful of the temporary housing. I know it's not much, but do not trash the place. Some parts of the castle have not been renovated for eons, as a testament to the craftsmanship of those long passed. Such history means a lot to many people." He says, serious.

 

"We will treat our residence with as much respect as possible." A forest guardian says, bowing along with some of his friends.

"Yeah yeah whatever." A demon says, many others sharing the same sort of response.

 

“To be clear, the question was to be respectful. You will not trash the place.” Silver says, looking straight into the demon with a piercing gaze that leaves him with a slight stinging sensation in his eyes. “Have I made myself clear?”

 

"Eh." The demon says, apathetic; seeming unaffected by the pain.

 

Silver turns to one of the stronger demons.
"Would any of you be willing to do me the favor of pointing out any of your kin that are likely to pose a problem regarding property damage?" He asks, sounding irate.
