Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"In a way; I have raised her like I would a child of mine. However, I do not call her my daughter, nor does she call me her father," Mortius explains, "She simply appeared one day. I am not sure where from, but I cared for her as she so needed."

A third, red eye appears on Imp-chan's forehead as she closes her normal ones, that stares at the golden queen. It's a little unsettling, but hardly more unsettling than some of the less-human like demons.

 

"Adorable." She says, not seeming to mind the third eye in the slightest.
"Tangents aside, are there any other questions?"

 

"I believe that covers everything. We'll begin gathering the children of ours that desire to work and send them here soon." Gaia says.

 

“You seem eager. Tenebrae and Lux said they would need upward of a week and a half. Why this discrepancy?”

 

"We had free time, as mentioned before, and they made it appear as if this situation was urgent." Gaia says.

"Gathering our children is likely to take that long, however." Mortius says.

 

“In their case, it is. In your case, not at all.” Golden says, waving her hand off to the side dismissively.

 

Gaia and Mortius turn to leave, their followers in tow. Imp-chan, however, doesn't follow; instead opting to look over the piles of riches the golden queen has.

 

Xlentia's hoard rests behind her throne, though a light coating of dust seems to show she hasn't touched it since Xlentia was hauled out.

 

Imp-chan seems to briefly consider taking some of the wealth, considering it's been untouched, but notices Mortius moving out and runs after him.

 

"Good decision." Golden says, reclining back in her throne.

 

Imp-chan looks back, a sly expression on her face as she heads out of sight.

A minute or so later, a gem shakes itself loose from the pile of treasure, and starts rolling toward the door.

 

It seems frozen in time and refuses to move.

"Permission is the difference between a recipient and a thief." Golden says, not really talking to anyone aside from herself.

 

There doesn't seem to be any more attempts at theft, and eventually Gaia and Mortius' presence leaves through the rift; Imp-chan presumably following.

 

Golden idles, seeming content with waiting around.

 

It takes about a week before any activity happens again. Guardians and demons begin heading through the portal en masse, all heading toward the golden queen's chambers.

 

Her chamber doors are open and the guards don't do anything to stop the group. Golden lounges on her throne, Silver now wrapped behind her pressed against the wall again.
"Oh my... are you all volunteers?" Silver asks, seeming half surprised and half curious as he unfolds a bit of his body to stretch towards the mortals.

 

"We've come on the orders of Gaia to assist your reality," One of the fire guardians at the front speaks up, "The demons on the orders of Mortius."

 

"I suppose I should brief you all, then." He says, retreating to a neutral position.
"First thing's first. You all aren't being forced to go. If you do, you will be rewarded with a plot that you may tailor to be as similar or as different to your home as you wish. You will be allowed to pick tasks from a list and assist with jobs, more dangerous and complex jobs being a reward for showing basic competency. Even if you are unskilled in a profession, tutors are willing to teach those who want to learn." Golden starts.
"We handle things a bit differently than you do at home, though. First off, we need you not to maim, kill, or otherwise harass humans - particularly at the workplace. At that, any intentional disruptive act at a job will result in you being sent home. Accidents happen, but we expect you to be reasonable." Silver continues.
"Before that, however, you all will spend some time in relative isolation at Silver's castle. For your safety and that of our people, we don't want to throw you neck deep into our culture before you have a chance to study or learn local customs. Furthermore, it will let us temporarily anchor your souls to our reality so they don't run off through two rifts should such incidents occur."
"We ask you respect local traditions, though you are not obligated to practice them. Furthermore, we hope you will remember to reach out to our guard should something concern you. We cannot guarantee you will remain unharmed, be it from a dangerous job or a rowdy criminal. We will, however, do as much as is reasonably possible to protect you."
"Anything risky you do, you will be notified of ahead of time. Acknowledging the dangers will waive us from responsibility of injury or death, though we are still accountable to provide any medical assistance we are able."
"Finally, you lot may see shadows and creatures of light working on jobs as well. They are there for reparations, you are here in hopes of improving relations. You are not obligated to work constantly as they are and you are able and allowed to request to go home at any time."
"Any questions?"

 

"How much are we getting paid?" One of the demons asks, the guardians all seeming to be in positive agreement for the work.

 

"Depends on the job. Unless you settle in to a town, it'll mostly be contracted work. You'll all be given a bit of the local currency to start out, and if you find yourself recklessly spending too much to put food on your table, you all have Silver's blessing to eat in his castle for free. Though, you may be subject to a bit of questioning if you go there often..." Golden says, glancing at Silver.
"Every mortal has a story to tell." He mumbles, glancing back at Golden.

"...Oh, during the isolation period, you will also be put through a few basic tests. We don't want you to strain yourself on a job." Silver adds.
"And we're not having someone who can't add single digit numbers work on satellite orbit adjustments." Golden interjects, blunt.
