Best Professions?

So I "started" playing Wynn ~4 years ago, but played for a few weeks (maybe like 20 hours total) and stopped because my computer was so horrendously laggy. I played maybe an hour here or there every once in a while, but I got back into it at the beginning of February (~2 months ago) and have played about 40 hours since then. Today, I started doing professions, and I focused on Scribing and Alchemism.

My reasons for those choices are a) I'm level 45, so it would take a while for me to start making weapons/armor/accessories that I can actually use and b) I think (mostly) free heals would be cool, considering that I'm not a mage.

I might also go into cooking because that is a consumable.

What are you thoughts on professions? Which ones are the best in your opinion, and why?

Okay, I understand why making gear would be bad (durability & lower stats) but why is making consumables not a good idea?

 

Professions are only good at high levels aka lvl 100

 

Waste of time and is not necessary to beat the game

 

I understand why professions aren't good, but I think that they can be useful, especially consumables. Also, I'm less worried about beating the game than having fun. Thank you guys for your replies and insight.

 

It will make you have less fun, the grind is terrible to get two gatherings to high level, and then a crafting to high level.

 

I agree that grinding isn't fun, and I'm not grinding to max level or anything. Just to a level where it's viable for me to use my own scrolls/potions. Plus, this DXP weekend makes it easier.

 

If you want viable crafted stuff then you would have to get 90+ lvl

 

I would probably go with one of the consumable professions or jeweling. Loot quality/ Loot bonus accessories sell pretty well on the market right now and the consumables that are gotten from crafting are typically much better than the ones that can be bought from NPCs and can have stats like mana regen.
You can also make -ws scrolls that have really long durations at level 52 scribing

 

I totally agree with you. I thought that the gear from crafting would be bad not only because of the weaker stats, but also because of durability. That's why I'm focusing on alch and scribing. They're consumables, and they can have some really interesting effects. Thank you guys for your help!

 

Don’t do consumables until you are level 100 or more. the guy is talking about mana regen scrolls and loot bonus stuff that is not meant for a first playthrough

 

The dxp weekend does make it easier, but just don't bother with professions first playthrough. The grind is up to like 3 hrs a level in the later levels without dxp, just don't. Believe me, you will be so much happier and have a lot more fun if you don't do any.

 

Okay, I'll finish the playthrough and then might do it on my second if I get bored. Any suggestions for a second playthrough though?
Shaman = OP but I don't think it fits my playstyle
Warrior = Fits my playstyle decently, but is kinda bad from what I've heard
Assassin = I've played it until ~lvl 8 and it was fun.
Mage = I've played it until ~lvl 3 and I liked the AoE damage.

Overall, I'm deciding between assassin, which seems really fun but maybe a little harder to level up, and Mage, which is also fun and has better spells.
