Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Are you feeling ok, Ihra?" Tenebrae asks, concerned.

"You appear to be rather wounded." Lux adds.

 

“Screw this...” She grumbles, lighting a flame in her hand and torching herself, her body quickly crumbling to ash before a new one rises, grabbing her staff and slipping back into her robe.
“Anything else?” She asks, seeming irked, turning slowly in a circle to let the duo look at her new, pristine body (and somewhat cleaned robe).

 

"No." Lux says, shaking his head.

 

She turns back to the rift, continuing on.
The duo can somewhat overhear a bit of telepathy between Ihra and someone else. They’re speaking modern Dacori, close enough to dragontongue for the duo to understand.
“I’m translating for Tenebrae and Lux. I can’t go now.”
“We won’t have another opportunity for ... days for the tides to match.”
“I’ll go then. I told you ... wouldn’t make the next sting op.”
“What about Iris?”
“Wrecking ... Trimming anchors, so they don’t kill even more of us when ... rift shut.”
“I don’t think they will. Not aft-“
“I don’t give a damn what ... , Ihra. They’ve ... your baby stage, you don’t need them ...” Iris snaps.
“Watch your words, I owe them still. No matter ... trouble ... , the few of the othersouls that want ... should be allowed to.” Ihra growls.
“...Should we call off the sting?”
“No, they ... there’s a pattern ... follow.” Iris sighs.
“We’re both ... cycle. Hopefully the gambit pays off, else I... no, it’ll work.”
“You’re not ... like that demon king, no matter what. Kill that many people and you ... his numbers.”
“S-shut up! There’s a shred of good in him, and I know ... who he is. He’s Aj, not the Black Plague.”
“Ihra, pay attention. You left the link open again.” Iris mumbles.
“...Damnit.” She sighs, turning back to the duo.

“How much of that did you hear?” She asks, weary as she levitates along to continue moving.

 

"Not enough to discern anything without proper context." Tenebrae says.

"If you don't have much time, we could always take you to Temporus to see if he could give some of it back to you." Lux offers.

 

"No need. It'll work out. I just wish not that many people had to die for it..." Ihra mutters.
"All it really was about is the threats to close the rift. Don't worry about it, we haven't found much on the matter." She says, crossing through to the other reality.

A segment of Silver is visible in front of the library, though due to the hallway cropping the view it looks like a levitating piece of giant serpent.

 

Once Tenebrae and Lux pass through the rift, they assume their more recognizable god-sized form, towering over Ihra but seeming to be the right size for talking to someone such as the golden queen.

Lux gives the visible piece of Silver a concerned look, though doesn't say anything.

 

“Exactly. You get used to the whole god stuff once you start thinking like them.”

 

Ihra leads the duo towards Silver as a result of moving towards Xlentia's chambers. Silver's head is resting near the training area.

"...And it holds together with an equivalent power spike or void when and where needed. Beautiful work! I wouldn't have guessed you didn't have a god of time if I just looked at this."
"No, the pleasure is all mine. You should be proud of what you've built there!" He says cheerily to someone inside.
"I would love to watch another, but I sense guests. Golden will be at my throat if I don't beat them there."
He then gets up and start into Xlentia's chambers; though his body is so long, it could easily constrict the duo at their normal sizes.

"I guess... though it still seems ridiculous." Scurn mutters. "How exactly are we getting back from here, anyways?"

 

The pair seem to relax a little upon hearing a friendlier voice, though they on guard as they follow Ihra.

 

As Ihra nears Xlentia’s chambers, Silver’s tail slips in past the trio and the guard steps up to talk with Ihra.

After a few words in Ancient Dacori, Ihra links with Tenebrae and Lux before turning to them.
“Unless she says so, apparently best not to say anything out loud if it isn’t Dacori. I guess I’ll just relay stuff as you push it through telepathy?” Ihra asks telepathically, seeming a bit more wary than she had been.

 

"I...suppose that could work. It seems a little belittling though." Tenebrae says, sounding a little offended.

"Can she not comprehend our language?" Lux asks.

 

“She considers common tongue barbaric. She can understand it just fine, and speak it - she thinks Ancient Dacori as a proper language and belittles anything ‘lesser.’” Ihra sighs.

 

"I hope my children don't start that with my tongue..." Tenebrae comments quietly.

"Even Gaia's don't use their tongue like that." Lux adds.

 

“Most of them don’t. I can’t honestly deny that with either shadow tongue or... whatever guardian tongue is called, though. Bad apples in every bunch or something.” Ihra mumbles.
“Anyhow, are you two ready to go on? The guard gave us the go-ahead for entry.”

 

"We are." Tenebrae says, though looking slightly put off.

 

Ihra walks in to Xlentia's chambers, Silver folded up against the back wall again before the Golden Queen looks up.
"You needn't come any closer. I didn't expect the menace's parents to actually come..." She grumbles.
"Even you need a translator, hmm? What have you let your reality become?" The Golden Queen asks, glancing intently between Tenebrae and Lux.

 

The pair stand tall and proud, their clothing looking somewhat regal, and certainly expensive.

"You called us here, and we have arrived. We'd like to know what you wished to discuss with us." Lux telepathically says to Ihra to translate.

 

"What ire do you two have with us? Sending your son to start a war deceives the look you seem to be hoping to betray."

 

"We did not send our son to start a war, nor do we have much recollection of him at all. We do know that we would never send a child of ours to start wars, however." Tenebrae says to Ihra telepathically.

"If you will excuse our amnesia, it was due to a version of you erasing our child. We can hardly remember what he looks like, nor much about him at all." Lux says to Ihra, fists tightening as he does so; before he lets them go.
