Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"No, they were right. It doesn't matter what I'm capable of if I can't handle myself."
Pause.
"If you need me to come over, I can."

 

Artemis takes a long pause to think to herself.

"N-No, the people of your reality need you more than I do. I-I'll be fine, just...don't get yourself hurt," Artemis says through a slightly weaker connection, "M-Mother would've wanted you to be out fighting, to be helping people like she would've done. S-She was already dead when I was a baby, I-I should be used to not having her around."

 

Ihra hesitates.
"Go home, I'll meet you there."

 

"No, your people need you," Artemis says, the connection strengthening, "Maybe the hive master almost got into my head or something, but y-you're meant to be out there. I-I'll just speak to Aj about this..."

"I-It's nice enough just to hear your voice..." Artemis adds, "M-Maybe part of m-mum got l-left with you..."

 

“No, I said I’d let you know when I finished the last mission and I’d be with you then. I spent time mourning instead. I’m going over... in just a minute.”

 

Artemis sighs.

"I-I'll see you soon." Artemis responds.

 

“Where should we meet up?”

 

"I-I'll be in my forest. On Earth." Artemis replies.

 

“I’ll see you soon.” She says, the connection suddenly dropping after it sounds like Ihra turned around.

 

Artemis heads to her forest, waiting once she arrives. She sits under a larger, thicker-trunked tree to wait, seeming to enjoy the presence of healthy nature around her.

 

Fresh footprints (and a few broken branches) suggest Sgavrinn had a bit of a romp through the forest not too long ago, though he seems to have just been passing by Artemis’ rest point.

 

Artemis traces their trail with her eyes, though stays where she is; trying to keep her emotions in check. She idly takes a fallen branch and tries to carve a small wooden figure out of it.

 

Closer inspection looks as if Sgavrinn chased someone out - or someone was chasing him, there’s not much of a pattern to the footprints.

Judging by the lack of blood, it looks like it was all for fun, though.

 

Artemis smiles a little, throwing away the somewhat humanoid wooden figure of a weird looking person her shaky hands carved before trying again; to the same amount of success.

 

There's a yelp in the distance and the sound of more branches breaking, before Sgavrinn parades back with a fox loosely held in his mouth.
He's startled by Artemis being there, dropping the fox which quickly darts off into the woods.
"I didn't know you'd be coming home already." He says, padding noticeably more carefully than he was prancing about earlier.

 

"I'm meeting Ihra here, and now she gets to see you too." Artemis says, smiling and holding her hand out to pet Sgavrinn.

 

"Is she coming back to meditate again?" He asks, nuzzling Artemis' hand.

 

"Sort of, yes." Artemis says, nodding and petting Sgavrinn.

 

He sits down near Artemis and seems content with the company, Ihra showing up a few minutes later - albeit with a dagger lodged in her snout. She doesn’t seem to notice it, considering her primal vision.

“Sorry I’m late. They all deserved something more than a cremation.” She sighs, sounding tired.

 

"Y-You've got a dagger lodged in your snout!" Artemis says, immediately leaping up and trying to help; flowery vines surrounding the wound.
