Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Amber desummons it.
"I don't care. You two look more pale than the last person I borrowed a soul from, just go."

 

Artemis and I head back to the rift, Artemis walking slowly before I pick her up in both arms and carry her back. She waves goodbye to Amber over my shoulder before we walk out of sight.

 

Amber waves back once, Silver peeking through as you break line of sight.

 

Artemis and I head back through the rift in hopes of finding an unlucky human; unless stopped.

 

Silver just watches silently before he turns to look at the outside of the palace.
If any guard bothers watching, it takes about a minute and a half before his tail slips out of the palace doors and completely out of sight.

 

A few guards seem to be set on watch of the rift, watching Silver go before keeping vigilant for anything else. Nobody else appears to come back through the rift, other than a stray red-eyed crow that seems to be rather confused at it's change of scenery.

A few hours later, Artemis tries to reach out to Ihra to see how she is.

 

She reaches Iris instead.
“Well, you’re not dead, so I take it you found a translator.”

 

"We did. The golden queen was a lot more cooperative than we thought." Artemis responds, a slight tinge of disappointment in her reply from not being able to talk to Ihra.

 

“I know you'd rather not talk to me, but you have to accept that the good old times you had adventuring together isn't what the current situation permits as much as it had. You're both too valuable of assets to have lumped together at any given time; The Hive Master can work around one superpower, but he's stretched too thin to keep pinpoint track of two. Ihra wasn't practically born yesterday anymore."

 

"I just wanted to...nevermind." Artemis says, sounding distant.

 

“I’ll get her out of... hold on.”
The connection breaks, before existing again.
“Hello?” Ihra asks, seeming a bit shaken.

 

"Hello, Ihra," Artemis says positively, "Are you ok?"

 

"Yeah... I'm fine. Not even a scratch..." She sighs.

 

"Did you want to take a break to meditate or something similar again?" Artemis asks, "Putting yourself under all this pressure isn't good for you. I don't want to hear that we've lost you."

 

“I’d love to, but... I can’t just stand aside when I’m one of few who can make a big enough difference. If not me out there, then who?”

 

"You're right. Stay safe, Ihra," Artemis says, sounding distant again, "We can meditate together after we've killed the hive master...whenever we do."

 

"Artemis, what's wrong? I'm sorry I'm busy, I just... the more I stand by, the more I try to get a hold of myself, the more people die. I'm as tired of this fight as you are."

 

"I just thought of...Myria...recently." Artemis says, taking a long pause to say her mother's name.

 

"I know how much you miss her, but I'm not sure she'd want to see either of us like... well, this." Ihra says, nervously letting out a short laugh. "Is something wrong over on Earth?"

 

"Other than another version of Xlentia threatening it, not really," Artemis says with a sigh, "S-Sorry about what's happened when you were here previously. With our gods and their interactions with you. Myria wouldn't have wanted that either. She s-sacrificed herself for you, after all."

Artemis' connection begins to falter a little as her emotional state worsens.
