Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

She leans down to bite, but stops and lifts you to a standing position by your shoulders instead after hearing you out.
“Go on.” She says, looking you dead in the eye.

 

"He continually assaulted my friends and I in my home reality, seeking only to harm us for his own sick entertainment. Not even erasing him from time itself with a limb of my god of time was enough to remove him, as he somehow managed to return. I still remember finally thinking I had defeated him, cutting up his body into nothing, only for him to reappear," I explain, "Even when I stumbled into this reality, he followed my friends and I. It was only through your great and mighty power were we freed from his reign of torment, your illustrious majesty."

 

The Golden Queen releases her grip on you.
“Silver, does he speak truth?”
“I cannot verify the word of a god through their child, but he does indeed speak true of his own troubles.”
She pauses, before smiling.
“A problem child, hmm? How much damage did he do at home?” She asks, summoning a golden bow ornamented with crimson jewels. “Because I think you might not be worth warring with. How ironic you come to me with a girl named Artemis, that menace killed a boy named Apollo. Despite your prehistoric language, your culture seems to be sufficiently developed.”

 

"More than my riches could pay for, your highness," I say, "His attempts to end my own and my friend's lives ranged from damages while we fought, to total destruction in an attempt to get to us. It was only through the limb of my time god I was able to repair most of it. My friend's homes have been destroyed when we thought we could hide from him, and a large part of my own kingdom was destroyed when he faced me in my own realm."

"May I speak, your majesty?" Artemis asks.

 

“In a moment, Artemis.” She says, turning to Silver.
He pauses a bit before nodding.
“He still speaks truth.” He says.
The Golden Queen seems irritated at his hesitation, but accepts his word anyways.
“What’s on your tongue, girl?”

 

"My mother specifically named me after the goddess you speak of. My mother is well known in my reality for her abilities, and wished for me to be like the goddess of the hunt herself as her successor," Artemis explains, "She is...no longer with us, however."

A slight change in Artemis' expression shows her suppressing pain as she mentions her mother's second sacrifice, though she suppresses it well.

 

"Such is the inevitability of mortality. If you being a 'death guardian' is as it sounds, you should know this better than most."
She sits back on her throne, seeming unamused.
"Silver, it's unlike you to hesitate. What did the shadow lie about?"
Silver glances at you with a tinge of irritance.
"A slight exaggeration, though the damage caused was still great."
The Golden Queen nods before turning back to you.
"Lie to my face again, and you will die braver than most." She says, angry demeanor returning.

 

"I understand, your highness. I apologise, your highness, it was wrong of me to attempt to deceive you," I say, before getting up and drawing shadow katana, "I have wronged you, and I must pay the price for it."

In a swift motion, I slice myself into two halves; straight down the middle. The sides of me fall, before disappearing into puffs of darkness that quickly dissipate. Shadow Katana clangs on the ground, before disappearing.

Artemis remains resolute in her position, as discomforting as it was to watch.

 

The Golden Queen seems unamused, turning to Artemis.
"Does he typically play these sorts of games?"

 

"No, your highness. Aj is a royal of great power too, and he knows how much respect means," Artemis says, stealing a slight glance over the golden queen, "Anyone could plainly see how much respect a grand figure such as yourself would demand, your majesty. Your form is exquisite."

 

"I suppose then it's due time you two drop the facade. Kissing my ass aside, what did you come here for?" She asks, irritated.

 

"We were informed that the twilight menace had affected your home, and that you wished to retaliate on our own reality for his misdeeds." Artemis says, before I appear where I was standing - though looking a lot weaker in form.

"We ask mercy of you, your highness. The menace's actions were unbeknown to us, and he does not reflect our reality or it's intentions. If we had known what he was doing, we would have tried to prevent it as best we could - praying to our gods for assistance a sliver of such. However, the menace has been sent to null and his history erased, and I was one of the very few who could still remember him after this," I explain, "A famous and prophetic human from our reality once said that 'An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind'."

 

"I wish to speak with the menace's parents. I do not know to what degree your exaggerations extend, but I wish that you acknowledge that I do seek reparations for the damage done to us. If not through war, then through aid. When your reputation of being known as 'The Black Plague' came to me, I assumed that war was the only language you spoke. Your concerns speak otherwise." She says, Silver seeming to take a much less tense stance.
"I will not go unanswered, to be clear. If you truly wish to avoid a war, though, I expect to be taken more seriously than you two first did here. Am I understood?"

 

"Yes, your majesty. I will arrange a meeting between Lady Tenebrae and Lord Lux - Crelucium, the twilight menace's parents, your majesty." I say.

"You have been far more generous than we deserve by giving us your time here, your highness." Artemis adds.

 

"What did I just say about kissing my ass?" She growls. "Whatever. Go, do what you need to do."
"Mortals..." She grumbles.

 

Artemis and I take our leave, heading out of the doors to the golden queen's chamber.

Once through the doors and after they shut, Artemis collapses as I stop projecting myself and properly take on my form. Artemis' shoulder wound seems to rot a little more, and I catch Artemis before she hits the floor.

"I...I can't...I can't handle something...like that again." Artemis says, all of her suppressed emotions from the audience hitting her at once. I put Artemis' arm over my shoulder to help her stand; Artemis leaning on me heavily.

"I can't believe we survived that." I say, shocked.

 

"She's a lot less bent up backwards than I thought she was going to be, but like... I think I'd rather deal with childish naive Xlentia than egotistical war-queen Xlentia." Amber sighs.

 

"We owe you our lives." I say.

"If you hadn't translated for us...we'd be goners." Artemis says, exhausted. I hold Artemis up a little more and tilt my head away from her. Artemis bites into my neck, drinking for a little while and seeming to get some of her energy back from it. However, she can still barely seem to stand.

"I need...a human. I haven't been like this without good life...for that long before." Artemis says, taking deep breaths as she talks.

 

Amber summons an orb of life essence, offering it to Artemis.
"Harvested and put in stasis. I haven't fed off it yet, if it's any comfort." She says.

 

Artemis waves her hand at it.

"You keep it...I just need to get home...L-Let's go." Artemis says, looking at me.

"Do you mind if we go or do you want to come with us?" I ask Amber.
