New Minecraft Mmorpg

A new minecraft MMORPG server called "Hegemony" will release in 2 weeks. Impressions? I think I'll stick to wynncraft because it will be far more developed than the new MMORPG server

 

Whats the IP address, I might check it out. Not that I won't stop playing Wynncraft, though

So far, the only one that's seemed to have real potential was Zentrela. Most have just kind of flopped. It'd be cool for Wynn to have some real competition, but I don't think that'll ever happen; it's just gotten too sophisticated and advanced for any new server to compete.

 

Before there was a really cool server called Dungeon Realms wich was a reaally good competition of Wynncraft, However that was before even the Gavel update, that server is dead lol

 

Dungeon Realms is still around.

 

I found it quite funny that Dungeon Realms' forums claim it to be the #1 MMO in Minecraft, yet there's a player count of 19 players online (at the time of me posting this)

 

They celebrated 300k unique players around the time Wynncraft was at like 1.5 million or something if I remember correctly.

 

Ok I joined the server and its pretty good potential but needs some polish and shine.

Spent like two hours on it

1. Where the heck am I to go?
It's kinda hard to find things, and where to go.

2. UI is messy, cluttered

 

The only part I enjoyed was being in the top ten richest players online since there were only 8 people. Besides that, the chat spam was really, really bad, the tutorial mobs had way too much health and as you said, the UI was awful and the builds weren't all that good (Wynn clearly directs you to Detlas and the first dungeon, idk where I was going). They also kept spamming me to vote, so that's never good I guess.

That being said, if Wynn is going to add a sixth class to even out the roaster (maybe when they update to 1.16 and the level cap is increased to 120 to introduce netherite armor) I actually think a reaper class which uses scythes would be cool. I guess the dungeon people had one good idea.

 

I have a friend who composes for hegemony, and I have to say his music is the only redeeming quality of the server. the trailers for it made me actively not want to play (see, the boss trailer, where everyone stands there left clicking a knight that's standing still for 5 minutes and it's not even half dead by the end.) I tried it out, and it just feels overly convoluted. the artwork certainly doesn't help either, everything feels like it blends together and you get kind of lost by just seeing everything that's going on. there's a lot of really silly design choices too, like changing your weapons stance exclusively for different stat bonuses, having to open a menu and click an item just to progress dialogue once, combat feeling more vanilla than even wynn does.
for awhile, I thought wynncraft wasn't that great but still enjoyable, but now that this has released, I notice wynn is leagues higher than its competition, even down to minute game design details.

 

Second day of like two hour play

1. Everything is cluttered and cramped, plow the damn snow roads

2. If you get lost, its hard to go back to the main course, and everything is hard to navigate, being mountainous

3. Everything seems very very grindy

4. Unskippable, slow npc dialogues

5. After the tutorial, what the heck am I supposed to do?

6. It locks things ingame that you have to pay for with money


Also so much snow

Seems like it has potential, left that word out but needs lots of change. I probably because it was new and interesting, I feel I overrated it.

Also rip the server got hacked on the second damn day

You know the exploit that allowed people to log onto other peoples accounts on hypixel and 2b2t, that was prob used

 

Curious, was Wynn affected by that exploit?

 

Dont think so and maybe the higher ups took preventative measures

 

I highly suspect the admins have some sort of password or 2fa sort of thing to actually log in/do anything on the server. It would be not that smart not to.

Nope, def not the only one xD
They just look so bad, because one of the good things with minecraft is it’s simplicity. It doesn’t feel like your walking through the mud of King’s Landing when your walking on some dirt in minecraft. It’s like they did too much work on it. Yes, texture packs can definitely be an improvement, but if you modify the textures to make them look realistic, minecraft just loses its charm and charisma.

 

so i started playing on this server a little while after op started the thread and i really liked it
right now its really close to its release (they released it for like a 1 day and the server crashed because of bugs and lag from the huge influx of players)
it has a lot of potential if you ask me and the whole thing is player dependent: you are able to purchase land and build your own base, player shops, you can hire npc do do tasks etc.

one bad thing i agree with is that its VERY grindy
