Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I'm not going to kill anyone without very good reason." I say, offended.

"I'll keep him in line." Artemis says, smirking at me.

 

"All I can ask is that you keep trying." Amber laughs. "Anyhow, I assume you don't intend to wait long enough for this other Xlentia to make the first move, so I'd get going before sunup. That, and I still have a bit of feeding to do."

 

"Enjoy the feast." I say, opening a portal back to the realm of shadows, before realising something.

"Where should I find you when I've got the ruin and Aquira?" I ask.

 

"I'll wait somewhat near your palace gates once I'm done." Amber shrugs, seeming to have gotten halfway into melting back into the ground before you turned back around.

 

"Alright, hopefully we won't be long." I say, Artemis stepping through the portal before I can.


The chief of Mary's island tribe checks her hut, trying to find where she is.

 

She is, testing the effects of a few old spearheads she coated in her ruin on plucked grass blades - resulting in rapid withering of the entire blade with slighter and shallower cuts.

 

"Mary? I have some good news for you." The chief says positively.

 

“Did you find some better way to contain my... mess?” She asks.

 

"No, I'm sorry," The chief apologises, sounding disappointed, "But you have a special guest. She calls herself Artemis, and a few of the other members have said she is the daughter of Myria; a legendary death guardian from centuries ago. She has said that she knows of your family, and wishes to get revenge on the pirates that raided us on your behalf. She is currently in my hut if you wish meet with her."

 

Mary nods, standing up and gathering her puddle of ruin.
“I suppose, if she came this far for me... though how did she find us?”

 

I shrug.
"What else are they going to do except for be showy?"

 

"I'm...not quite sure. All she said is that one of your sisters told her where you are." The chief says.

 

“Study? Regulate stuff? I dunno. I guess I didn’t really think theatrics were part of being a god.”

“Don’t hurt her, the king of shadows is on her side. However, she’s lying about the pirates... I’m not sure there’s anything we can do if they brought Aquira back. Not with that shadow here, at least.” She says, before heading into the chief’s hut.

 

Artemis seems to be chatting happily with another member of the tribe, glancing over to to Mary when she enters. One thing that seems quite odd is the fact that her eyes have a slight red tint to them, as opposed to the emerald green the other forest guardians have.

"Hello, Mary. It's nice to meet you." Artemis says happily, walking closer to Mary to be polite, "I've heard a bit about you from the other members of your village already, as well as from your sister, Amber."

 

Mary seems wary, before meeting Artemis' gaze and noticing the red. Her demeanor quickly shifts from a wary neutrality to a hesitant distrust.
"How'd the two of you get here?" She asks, staring directly into Artemis' eyes.

 

"We searched the islands in the seas Aquira normally sails in. It took us a while, but we found this island eventually." Artemis explains.

 

"And how'd you convince the chief you'd even consider laying a finger on Aquira? The three of us know Katie and Kiin would never forgive you." Mary asks, skeptical.

 

"Amber simply wished to speak to Aquira. I wouldn't let harm befall her." Artemis explains.

"Kiin is dead by the way." I say through Artemis, before she has time to cover her mouth.

 

Mary glares at Artemis, though she still looks straight into her eyes.
"Come on out, plague. There's already one here with me, your presence won't do much more damage."

 

"Speaking of your ruin, we were hoping we could collect some of it." Artemis says, smiling sweetly.
