Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"If I did, would you no longer wish to speak with me?" Artemis asks, her tone calm.

 

“No, you’ve already been shot over it. That’s more than I planned to do.” Amethyst says, still weaving.

 

"Is that all you called me here for?" Artemis asks.

 

“Only if you intend to continue avoiding my questions.” Amethyst says. “...but you weren’t in this form when you watched him cut down my home. Can you switch?”

 

"The only other form I have isn't human, and it would take a while to recover my human body afterward - even here." Artemis explains.

 

"Maybe not then... I could've sworn I felt you having a scythe." Amethyst mumbles, pausing her work for just a bit to think.

 

"Oh, you mean this?" Artemis says, tapping her necklace as she changes to her death guardian form; bow changing to scythe on her back.

 

Amethyst glances over.
“Yeah. Tap a dull end on the floor for me real quick, if you don’t mind?”

 

Artemis taps the (dull) end of her scythe on the floor twice.

 

“You didn’t help him actively, bar the vine.” Amethyst mumbles.
“But don’t lie to me about me being your first choice. Ihra is your go-to for just about everything, isn’t she?”

 

"She's unavailable. You were our first choice when we learned that you could speak the language. It's alright you don't want to assist us though." Artemis explains.

 

Amethyst hesitates.
“Three kilos and a signed blood contract stating he won’t go to war with this realm - ever, and I’ll put him leaving me with no home and several broken bones behind. Call it even, blank slate, I’ll be your translator, and I’ll work on not throwing up in my mouth when I see or hear about his presence.”

 

"I don't think I can ask that of him," Artemis says, "By my understanding of their politics, a truce has already been made between the realms after their initial war. Swearing off another war with this realm, as unlikely as it is, would likely interfere with their initial truce."

 

“Three kilos and a requirement to tolerate humiliation by my hands once, then. He seemed hesitant to bother looking for more. Three months to get the resources to me, or I reserve the right to embarrass him in front of his own people without repercussion every three months thereon until I am compensated.” She counteroffers. “I have no intent to frustrate my king and my queen. I can settle for an old truce if it means taking worry off their shoulders.”

 

"I'll speak to him about it." Artemis says, though seeming to lose her liking of Amethyst.

 

She smiles.
“Send a letter next time.”
Her expression then changes to a serious one.
“...because I’m not dealing with people who waste their breath lying through their teeth. Flattery may get you somewhere with my siblings, but actions speak louder than your hollow words here.” She growls. “The only one of your friends I can trust to leave my home alone is Thirteen, so get out and don’t come back.”

 

Artemis looks offended, before smiling back, something sinister behind her expression.

"I'll be in touch." Artemis says, changing back to her forest guardian form and heading off, though staying aware of Amethyst's presence.

 

She can't track Amethyst shortly after she leaves - at all.

 

Artemis remains vigilant, but otherwise returns to the throne room.

 

As she enters, Amethyst reforms between her and the royals.
"What will it take for you to stop trying to ruin my life?" She asks, sounding more weary than furious.
