Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Three." I say, defiant.

Artemis tries to read Amethyst's mind to figure out what's making her so angry.

 

She seems to have no ill will towards Artemis, but has an extreme hatred for Shadow(?) Aj. She seems to blame him and him alone for destroying her home, and seems paranoid about him being in the Realm of Light - to the point where he seems to be her sole focus.
"Go home, and leave mine alone." Amethyst growls.

 

Artemis whispers to me, and I take my leave, bowing to the light royalty.

"Oh, you're leaving already?" Solus asks, sounding surprised.

"I understand where there isn't a deal to be had, your majesty." I say, before disappearing through the doors.

 

Amethyst glares at you as you leave, still seeming wary.

 

I seem to leave without issue, though Artemis stays behind; seeming to watch me go herself.

 

"Cut him and his realm out of the equation and I'll go." She says, still paranoid.

 

"I know how you feel about him," Artemis says sincerely, "My family was killed by Shadow worshipers. He's not a bad person though; I used to think all Shadows knew was murder. They don't, at least no the stronger ones."

 

“He leaves calamity in his wake, left me to sit in the tangled remains of my home. Now he asks I help keep his from meeting the same fate? I know he can source my request with that sort of money - my aid isn’t worth that much to him. Perhaps if he took me seriously, for once, I might do him a favor.” Amethyst says, serious. “The people here didn’t need to shelter me, give me a chance, anything of that sort. They don’t treat me like a pest or a tool, they treat me like I’m my own being. I’m tired of settling for being treated as less.”

 

"Well...if you believe that, I won't try to change your opinion." Artemis says, sounding disappointed, before leaving as well; the light royalty looking rather confused.

 

“One question before you go.” Amethyst calls.
“Why me? You know some of my siblings. They all can speak ancient Dacori as well as I can.”

 

"You were our first choice. We thought you'd be the most reasonable, since you live here." Artemis says, before disappearing out of sight.

 

Amethyst rolls her eyes, before stretching.
“Are they why I was called here?” She asks, turning to Solus and Leilia.

 

"Yes, I'm sorry they disturbed you." Leilia apologises.

 

"He left my home in shambles, and I know he's brought a war here too in the past. I don't trust him to let me live in peace." Amethyst grunts, spinning her sewing needle about.
"If possible, I was meaning to make a request while I was here. Something for my current project, which happens to coincide with his affinity for bringing ruin to everything he touches. I can spin thread on my own, but I can't generate metals. I'd like to try my hand at spinning armor again, in the off chance you or the palace guard deem it useful."

Artemis notices a woven note between her clothing and her shoulder.
"You were there, you felt familiar.
Why won't he leave me alone?
Come to my chambers, if you have yet to leave the palace.
Without him, or I'll freak out again."

 

"Of course, we'd be happy to supply you with whatever metals you need." Solus says happily.


Artemis reads the note, before heading outside the palace.

"Did you manage to convince her?" I ask, hopeful.

"No, but she left me a note. She wants me to go see her in her chambers, without you." Artemis says.

I give Artemis a concerned look.

"I know the risk, but I feel like I should do this. Maybe we don't have to look for someone else after all?" Artemis responds.

"Alright, stay safe. If anything goes wrong, I'll be there." I say, giving Artemis a hug.

Artemis turns around, finding her way to Amethyst's chambers by asking guards and servants for direction.

 

“I’m not ready for it now, but if you could arrange a few ingots of something common sent my way tomorrow I’d appreciate it. I would like to finish my current project before things get tangled, though.” Amethyst says with a bow, before stepping towards the door.


The note also has a small map, though it only contains the shape of the nearby halls and the marked door that’s Amethyst’s room.

 

"Certainly." Solus says happily, the guards inside the throne room opening the door for Amethyst.


Artemis checks inside Amethyst's chambers, before deciding to wait outside to be polite. She sits and meditates to pass the time, focusing on sensing the life around her; the natural light of the realm boosting her abilities.

 

Amethyst rises from the carpet, her body weaving itself back together as she takes her sewing needle and continues her work.
“This does tell me you at least weren’t lying.” She says, some sort of hat or helm lining being woven and tweaked down to the thread fibre.

 

"Why would I lie to you? What would I have to gain?" Artemis asks, opening her eyes as she senses Amethyst's presence. Artemis gets up, adjusting the bow on her back.

 

“Your footsteps felt familiar, it took me a while to place them again. You didn’t help him cut down my webs back then, did you?”
