Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Artemis seems to take to the language a little better.

"Oh, it's like a strangely accented dragon tongue?" Artemis asks, surprised.

"Me know no tongue created next to." Artemis tries to say in a hybrid of Dacori and dragon tongue.

 

"Dragon tongue is a simpler language." Rineth says in dragon tongue. "Much simpler. Dacori has been developed far more than the sorry state dragons have been pushed to here."

 

"I don't know the...less common parts of dragon tongue. I just know some basics to speak." Artemis admits in dragon tongue.

 

"Why do you seek someone who speaks Dacori?" Rineth responds, not bothering to switch from using dragon tongue.

 

"A new monarch has taken the throne in the void palace, and she isn't letting anyone through who doesn't speak Dacori. She's also planning to launch an attack on our reality." Artemis says, starting in dragon tongue but changing to common partway through as she can't find the words.

"There's a guy holding them back called the Silver King." I add.

 

“That... is the timeline I didn’t expect to cause any problems. Did Silver tell you anything regarding why The Golden Queen seeks your harm?”

 

"I believe it has something to do with Crelucium and opening rifts." I say.

 

"Ah, yes. The one thing from here responsible for killing more families than you." Rineth sighs. "They speak an older form of Dacori, though. I'm afraid I'm not terribly fluent in that - a preserver would be a much better bet. I know Amber keeps near battlefields on Earth in hopes of feeding, and Amethyst has lived in the light palace for a year now. Even Rose might be able to help you there - I think she's old enough to have been around for its era."

 

"I don't think we can reach Rose, though Amber and Amethyst we can probably speak to," Artemis says, contemplating, "Thanks for your help, Rineth."

Artemis gives Rineth a smile.

 

"I apologize that I do not know enough to aid you." He says, returning to his statue-like position.

 

"What are you doing here?" Artemis suddenly asks, "I mean, why are you standing there so still?"

 

Rineth eyes her over before returning to his idle position.
"I await Tenebrae's next orders just as I waited for Xlentia's."

 

"You're just...waiting?" Artemis asks, seeming concerned.

"Didn't Tenebrae give you an order to like...exist as yourself until she needs you?" I ask.

 

"I hope you don't mean to question my loyalty?" He grumbles, glaring at you.

 

"No, it just seems kind of boring just to wait around for Tenebrae to tell you to do something. She tells Shadow Stephanie and I to do stuff too sometimes, but we don't just sit around waiting for that to happen," I say, "She's not exactly the most...talkative goddess, compared to Xlentia."

 

“The unreliable are replaced. Even if my arrangement here may be temporary, I don’t settle for being a disposable asset.” He says sternly, one glaring eye staring straight into yours. “Apparently such sentiments are contrary to popular belief.”

 

"Well, things work differently here to how they worked with Xlentia. Tenebrae isn't going to execute you for taking time to live the life you've been given, just as long as you do as she asks when she asks it," I say, "You should try asking her if she wants you to sit there like a statue until she asks you to do something, she probably doesn't."

 

“If she desires a change in my demeanor, I will hear it from her - not you.” Rineth growls.

 

"Yeah, that's why I said to ask her," I say, undeterred, "At least see if you're doing a good job or not."

 

“Considering recent events, I assume she has more pressing matters than delivering a performance review. Regardless, you have better things to be doing with your time, as do I.” Rineth says, returning to his dormant position once again.
