Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Abigail gives Scurn a skeptical look, though goes back to watching TV.

 

Something about him feels off, though the TV is much more interesting than the naga heading towards the tonic fountains.

 

Abigail ignores it, the third eye of the demon laying on the sofa keeping watch of Scurn.

 

"That's good progress."
I start, accepting the connection.
"I take it you're about to tell me something about Scurn?"

 

“He’s inside, trying to figure out where you are. That and Praecantatia gave him a free pass on snagging a spell, so he did.”

 

“Well, I’m outside, trying to figure out how to get in.”

 

"He knows how to get out, if you want to just fly up and make yourself visible."

 

I do just that, and look down below.

Scurn takes the shrinking tonic and drinks it before slipping outside without another word.

Unless Fia intercepts, he shows up in Thirteen's view about a minute later.

You see Scurn down below, seeming to step out of a doorway from the bark of the tree. While he originally seems to be quite large, he quickly shrinks to a more recognisable size. You catch a glimpse past the door before it closes, showing the entrance to a gigantic home before the door seems to turn back into part of the tree.

 

I fly on down.
“How did it go?”

 

"They're considering helping me, which means that they at least listened. And Praecantatia sent me back with a few spells - I don't care what Levi said, I didn't steal anything. I said I wouldn't, and didn't."

In the realm of shadows, a Xlentia-sized white dragon head with a silver crown and ornate armor plating slowly peeks through the rift, slowly and carefully putting a foot down on the ground as they look around.

To Tenebrae or another god, it seems to be another version of Virei'tus. Considering he seems unaffected by Praecantatia's ward over the portal, it's safe to say he's not mind controlled.

 

The guards around the palace are immediately alert, holding their weapons ready against the unknown creature; even if they're ill equipped comparatively.

To those in the realm of shadows gazing skyward, a large red eye appears near to the moon, gazing down at the palace.

 

The Silver King stops, sensing the hostility - before saying something in a draconic tongue.

He meets the skyward gaze with a third eye of sorts on top of his head.

 

The guards seem confused, yet more hostile, upon hearing the unknown tongue. A few take note of what was said, as best they can with a heard language.

The palace doors open slowly, almost cautiously, as large well armoured guards take the forward charge as they lead their queen - Shadow Stephanie - out from the palace to see the beast herself.

 

Some things seem similar to the draconian language, Dacori - though the guard can only guess what words sound similar to words in Dacori.
In order, they manage to decipher: "Silver, King, visitor, rift, ally"

Upon noticing Shadow Stephanie's guard, the beast hesitates somewhat before saying something else.
"...queen... above... equal... darkness..." Is the best translation any guards familiar with Dacori can get.

 

"Who are you, and why have you come to this realm?" Shadow Stephanie asks, before repeating the question in shadow tongue, and a very broken dragon tongue of her reality. Despite the gap between realities, however, it's the easiest to understand, sounding somewhat similar to Dacori. However, due to Shadow Stephanie's inexperience, it's only slightly better than the common tongue; her body looking slightly more scaled and dragon-like as she tries to speak the words.

Many of the guards seem on edge, and the few forest guardians working in the gardens at night appear to have covered themselves partly with wooden shields, the ground beneath the shield disturbed from the thick wood emerging from it. A few insects seem to be floating about, though most seem to be sticking to the gardens than trying to annoy the guards.

 

"Ah, common tongue is common between realities, it would seem."
They clear their throat.
"I have come out of curiosity, and of weariness of the queen. She said this is the realm that linked our home to one at war, so I came in hopes of understanding hostility from a people we don't know."
Their posture eases slightly.
"My people call me The Silver King, though the history books call me Virei'tus. I suppose I should have brought my guard, though the librarian on the other side of the rift insisted you did not seek to fan the flames of war."

 

"Did you lose your memory, or go through some big transformation?" Shadow Stephanie asks, sounding confused, "It's...this reality. You know our reality."

A lot of the guards seem to calm down a little, though keep their weapons held ready. Forest guardians return to their work, however, upon hearing Virei'tus' name. Shadow Stephanie's personal guard doesn't allow any gaps in their defence, however.
