Media Wynncraft Ost Appreciation Thread

Alright y'all

I haven't seen many people talk about this so I wanted to make a thread about this.

I just absolutely love the Wynncraft OST. I mean can the composers make anything that doesn't sound good?

I'd just like to highlight some of my favourite ones.




Honestly, Corpe_ and Selvut absolutely nailed this and Genesis of the End. Everprescence sounds absolutely amazing. I like the rising beat and also the intensity. Just amazing.




Next up, Genesis of the End. I just don't even know. I chose the non-noteblock version just because of how epic it sounds. What an amazing theme for a final boss and one of my favourite ones out of the many games I've played. The noteblock version sounds great as well but I'm extremely glad they've made a different version too.




As somebody in the comments of the video said, this is most likely the closest to electro swing in the Wynncraft OST and boy did the composers nail it. The tune sounds absolutely epic and the name "Energetic encounter" really suits it. Also, may I point out this amazing theme plays during the Colossal Rat fight.

These have been my favourite pieces of the Wynncraft OST that I've been listening to lately, but there's many more that I like. Some of my other top picks include A day to remember, Mistress of the Hive, A-U-T-O-M-A-T-I-O-N, Infinite ascension as well as Chaotic Encounter.

So tl;dr I love the wynn ost and wanted to shine some extra light on it so more people would know about these amazing pieces of music.

Seems like many people don't know this but there is a Wynncraft version of Megalovania and its a hecking banger.

Where they wandered is pretty fantastic too.

For that matter, almost all of the silent expanse tracks are amazing.

 

100% agreed.

Honestly you did a great job on Luxury of the cease-fire (You wrote that, right?). Its a great starting town type song and it succeeds in bringing back lots of memories.

 

Good ones, too. I can't even imagne Nivla without Forest dance

And a lot more, don't feel like listing all of them rn.

Wynns music is really enjoyable and very fitting for the locations they're used in.

So much nostalgia within some of those songs, particularly Stormy Seas. I remember that playing when I was just a newbie; it brings back lots of memories.

Not a particular fan of a lot of the newer ones but they're cool, just quite dissonant in places, assumedly by design.

 

Eh I'd argue Icy Steps, The Great Race, Gavel Journey, Light's Hymn, Mind of a Pirate, Insanity, Energetic Encounter and Tangled in Endless Roots (especially this one) are really bad. On top of that I think that most of the really old music with a few exceptions is just really predictable and the rest of the soundtrack doesn't really stand out either. There are a couple of themes I like, like Genesis of the End (stereotypical choice, I know, though I do think it borders on random a few too many times), Everpresence, No Place to Hide and Frozen Waltz. Still, even these don't really have anything over other game soundtracks to me. The most awesome thing about the Wynncraft's soundtrack is that it has one at all, but I don't think it could be described as good or even as average.

Comparing Wynncraft’s hugely limited music system to that of a triple A game who either have orchestras employed to perform music for them, or are actually paid to make the music they make (with good music programs as well) just straight up isn’t fair. Considering what has been done just with a (very limited) NBS, Wynn is definitely not horrible when it comes to music.
