I always wished you could build with smaller blocks in Minecraft because I think that being restricted to mostly blocks makes everything too big and clunky. Slabs, stairs, walls, and fences make it better, but are limited by block type and other things (Just add vertical slabs already!). So I thought I'd do a build comparison to see how much better it looked.

I used the Little Tiles mod and restricted myself to 0.5 meter cubes. You can get MUCH smaller with this mod, but it becomes harder to place blocks correctly and they look overdetailed imo. I would love it if Mojang added 0.5 meter cubes and gave more freedom with builds (like slabs), but they have explicitly said they would never do it. Which is kinda a shame since Minecraft is about creativity, and it could even help gameplay-wise (such as not needing to jump over terrain constantly).

So tell me what you guys think! Keep in mind this is only scratching the surface, so feel free to recommend any other builds/concepts to try out.

Yeah, the mod is a bit bugged where some textures aren’t carried over. I was thinking trying to make all sides grass, though I’m not quite sure how yet. Is the interior good at least?

 

I suggest Chisel & Bits, allows for some complex block combinations

 

Detailed Minecraft terrain is what we like to call cursed.

I’ll check it out. I forgot what the differences are between them though. I would love it if there was another mod similar to the others that was updated to 1.13 and above.

 

the interior is a nice concept
don't know about that tiled floor but the inner walls and outer walls idea is nice

Nope. I don't see the problem with the terrain.

 

I’ll try to do it on a regular world and make the sides green and see how it looks.

 

Or just make it all brown too, that works aswell

Actually, the end looks really good imo. The Rocky is pretty decent looking as well

 

Ive wanted 1/8 size blocks for a while, the terrain mostly looks shit because it's built pretty badly.
