Well, my argument is that Lament lacks the personality to make it a mythic and the damage of a mythic so it doesn't really have anything to justify its spot as a mythic. There is a reason why people don't use Lament in a hybrid build and why the majority of players don't use it that way. It is nearly impossible to do with Lament's high intel requirement. Trying to build any sort of melee damage on Lament even if it were possible would be noticeably worse because it would lose out so much on raw spell damage items which it desperately needs. So now we are forced to use Lament in a spell build which as I pointed out with Lament's mana reduction due to high intel bonuses and requirements makes the mana steal hardly noticeable or at least not in away that can justify its lower damage compared to other mythic wands. I have used Lament for a VERY long time and compared to any wand I've used felt no different. And when you take crafted weapons into account which by far out damage lament well, does that mana steal really justify losing out on that damage. Also even though crafted weapons are annoying because they must be repaired, isn't Lament's negative lifesteal just as annoying and more noticeable? Anyways I really think Lament lacks a niche among the mythics Fatal, Gaia, out-compete it in melee and spells and singularity overwhelms it in both categories along with any other crafted water wands.

rarity shouldn’t be the only factor, though; a good game (IE. Borderlands, Destiny 1, WOW) should focus on providing a power curve between difficulty of an activity and the rewards given. Right now, Wynn does the opposite by making the easiest activities in the game the most rewarding, while restricting rewards from the most difficult activities (LI and EO) to fixed rolls, none of which reach near the power of Mythics. Because of that, the only people with mythics are the ones who either get extremely lucky, or spend an insane amount of time grinding loot running like a second job, which ends up as a catch 22 since the more people participate in loot running, the less loot chests there are, and the harder it becomes to loot run.

And since the gap between mythics and legendaries is so high, without a reasonable means to gap the power jump, non mythic players, especially the most active ones, become more reliant on meta items, which means they become more dependent on balance changes, which means that they spend more money changing builds. It’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. It also makes creating difficult activities for mythic users much harder since the CT is essentially forced to balance game activities around two tiers of players.

And then there’s ALSO the fact that most games nowadays tend to reward rarity with cosmetic means, or simply speed up power scaling through luck without changing the end power level for players (which is what mythics SHOULD be IMO) For example, pokemon has Shiny pokemon and Pokerus, which speeds up EVs training without changing the max amounts of EVs you can have. Destiny 2 has Titles and cosmetics like A thousand Wings and the Platinum Sterling from completing extremely difficult tasks and things like the Always on Time sparrow for the most difficult activities. Wow has mounts that act as exceedingly rare drops from certain mobs and activities. Hell, a lot of these (shiny pokemon) are often much more common than mythics are.

Basically, sure, balancing should be based around rarity, but rarity shouldn’t be based around balance, which is where we are.

Fair enough, but keep in mind most these content creators don't get paid a cent to do these balancing. And most of them are in via volunteering. Whereas the games you talked about people get paid big salaries to make those changes so the quality is on a different level. So don't put your expectations too high with the other games.

Now, back to the original topic of Lament: I think they should give it and King of Hearts a new major ID that allows you to overheal players on the second and third pulses, with absorption hearts showing it. It would add up to 33% of the player’s maximum health, and would incentivize pacing your heals somewhat to keep up the overshield. The buff would go away after about ten seconds of not being healed, or taking enough damage.

Ice Bear was actually thinking the exact same down to the 33% bonus, what a coincidence.

Honestly this is an issue I have with mage in general; you NEED to actively pace yourself or your meteor just deletes itself, meaning that unlike similar spells (multihit, uppercut), the spell becomes completely wasted and you deal no damage with it.

I've used Lament for almost 3 years now, and I gotta say, the healing change is very nice, but the problem is that most water mage builds can already spam heal very easily due to high int and mr, so I believe that doesn't compensate for it's underwhelming damage numbers

Crafted items might T-pose on Lament a bit too hard, though

I don't think it's worth buying a mythic just for good heals, especially when that mythic is far outshone by other mythics in terms of damage. You can effectively spam spells with fatal and singularity, and gaia can do melee builds, which isn't an actual option for lament. Monster is almost as good for heals due to your ability to stack massive health boosts, and still is better for melee and similar for spells.

Nepta can get 17k meteors as well. That’s a sign that its corresponding mythic is underpowered

Well for mage just in general nepta and morrow are both nearly mythics because of just how insanely strong they are. Morrow and warp are 100% different wands with morrow being an embodiment of no drawback air slap warp is an ultra high speed insane damage 150 agility wand with a super harsh Mana reduction making building it very difficult.

Lament vs nepta is not this way as both do quite similar damage and usually are interchangeable in builds. Lament is generally built with Mana Regen and the Mana steal is just an after thought despite being the main feature of the wand. Lament needs not just a buff but really a rework because it doesn't really work with the Mana steal playstyle as well as it should. On top of this also water thunder air and to an extent water air earth (the two main Mana steal playstyle a of water) lack alot of support and currently are not great choices for mage.

True but I’m thinking of major ids not as just damage boosts but as those that alter the way you play. That means balancing damages or ids as seen fit, so mythics wouldn’t necessarily be more powerful, just altered. And although that may raise prices in the economy,
And yes, these major ids would take a lot of time for something that most of the player base won’t really experience, which may be a bad thing.
But I hope that, as the CT release new ids and items, they can slowly get around to addressing at least some of the lackluster mythics.

Lament needs better healing capability, Monster (a fire wand) is literally a better heal wand than lament. So give it a major ID that it heals like 200% better or give it the old healing mechanic.
