Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I was going to blow my way in." Abigail says happily, another cherry bomb appearing in her hand - which she throws and catches idly.

 

"Save the explosives for use as a distraction. Blowing your way in is both suicide and completely ineffective." Rose sighs. "Like, you realize you're walking up to Atavul's palace, right? The bumbling idiot who kamikaze attacks stuff just because he gets mildly annoyed? His palace is obviously going to be built to resist him turning himself into a deathball at a wall or door."

 

Abigail seems to lose a lot of confidence, her shoulders dropping.

"How else am I supposed to get in to blow up the generator? If Stephanie and the interspecies romance that is Artemis and Aj can barely fight off the masses of Atavul's military, how am I supposed to?" Abigail complains, before putting a hand to her helmet. Rose can just about hear Stephanie's voice through Abigail's helmet.

"The environment was incredibly hot and fiery. We thought with the ability to break through walls with explosives, you'd be fine. It appears we misjudged the resistance Atavul had again." Stephanie relays.

"Oh really, you misjudged him again after he kicked your ass the first time? Did you send me on this as some kind of suicide mission?" Abigail replies snappily.

 

"You lot watched him melt Gaia's body. To compare how tough Gaia is, EBB used a gatling railgun to exterminate every human, building, and vehicle in a city in a matter of minutes - and that weapon barely dents her body. He's a bumbling idiot, but it doesn't take more than the half a brain he has to know that if you want your house to stay standing then you should probably make it hold up against your temper."

 

Abigail spends a moment thinking.

"Is there anything that he can destroy?" Abigail asks, "Maybe I could piss him off and move fast enough to make him destroy his own stuff on accident."

 

“Only walls, doors, and the generator are made to be Atavul-resistant. Smart thinking, though. Especially from you.” Rose sort of compliments.

 

Abigail seems to get a little offended by the comment, though doesn't let it show too much.

"Anyone who's played a few video games before would know that an enemy you can't directly hurt usually can hurt itself," Abigail explains, "You said Atavul's an idiot, so he'd probably not look further than whatever he's trying to kill before he fired. Besides, I've got these for the generator."

Abigail switches between the crystals in her gauntlets for a moment, before setting them and opening her arms a little. A rectangular bomb with a digital clock display appears between Abigail's hands, and the air seems to tingle with explosive magic in it's presence. Whatever the bomb contains, it'll likely blow up a gigantic area. Luckily, the bomb doesn't appear to be active.

 

“Nevermind. Blowing up a planet with you still on it sounds like your norm.” Rose sighs.

 

"These can't blow up a planet," Abigail says, before the bomb disappears again as her voice turns quieter, "Wish they could though, so I could finally get rid of all those perverted dragons..."

 

"The generator feeds off the core of the planet. You'd kill Xlentia if you did that, and Emerald certainly wouldn't let you leave this reality alive for that." Rose warns. "You've already done quite enough to her, whether you intended to or not."

 

"This is all on the same planet?" Abigail asks, confused and surprised.

 

"No, Atavul's palace is on a different planet than Gaia's, but my point stands. You blow up the generator, you kill Xlentia. I'm not going to bother trying to protect you if you do."

 

"How does blowing up the generator kill Xlentia?" Abigail asks.

"How are we supposed to cut power?" Stephanie says to Abigail.

"Stephanie asks how I'm meant to cut the power to his reincarnation machine or whatever." Abigail adds.

 

"Xlentia's sealed and in Atavul's palace right now, courtesy of you and failure to communicate by your gods. Blowing up the planet she's on would definitely do her in, assuming Virei'tus doesn't smite you to null first."
Pause.
"Oh, that's where you were going with that. You don't. Feel free to break the stuff that mind controls people during rebirth, but you don't just turn that thing off. Unless you blow up the entire planet. That'd turn it off technically. The generator powers the gauntlets, not the rebirth stuff."

 

"Oh." Abigail says.

"We can't send you on this mission, Abigail," Stephanie suddenly says, "It's suicide, as you said."

"Guess I'm not going," Abigail shrugs, before talking to Stephanie, "Can I still blow some shit up?"

"We'll find something," Stephanie says, "I'll arrange a teleport back here once you're home. We need to spend more time planning this out, even your chaos can't stand against Atavul. You'd probably be killed even if you freed Xlentia and broke the machine."

"Fuck that, I'm not sacrificing myself." Abigail says, before turning to leave.

 

"Yeah, she could probably do that for you."

 

"Stop right there." Ihra calls, entering from the portal in the Void Palace, putting a barrier up behind her.
"Oh, would you look at the time. Good luck, you've made her mad." Rose says, warping away.
Ihra's eyes glow purple as she looks into any magic currently affecting Abigail.
"I heard I missed the others. Where are they?"
Iris splits from Ihra, sitting casually on her levitating staff.
"I'm not missing the chance for her to chew out someone other than me." Iris grins.
"Shut it."

"Not entirely sure how you intend to get around the fact I'm a thief, but I'm no longer worried that I came over for nothing."

 

Abigail seems to have magic of every basic element stored on her, as well as a strong connection to fire.

"Catch this." Abigail offers, before throwing a lit stick of dynamite at Ihra; which explodes as soon as it reaches her. Abigail takes the moment to fly off like a rocket, concentrated jets of flame bursting from her gauntlets as she flies skyward.

 

“Just call yourself ‘scavengers’.”

 

Ihra blinks away, the explosive revealing a barrier blocking the portal - albeit not breaking it.
"So you do seek to betray us... that's low. Even for you."

"Everyone calls us thieves, so why should we use two names for the same thing?"
