Despite what some may say about the Canyon, I find it to be one of the most interesting areas in the game. It's impressive that the builders were able to construct a maze so confusing yet so fun to explore. After running through that area countless times, it's likely I still haven't seen every little secret the Canyon has to offer. Oh, and it has a pretty nice song to go with it as well.

Nice! I especially like how Southern/Western it feels because that's what everyone thinks of when "canyon" comes into mind.

    This is great!
But, as always here is my feedback:
In my opinion,”aimless paths” is designed to be, well.. aimless. The chords are a simple ascent and descent (almost imitating waves), and the melody sounds as if it is “wandering” by staying pretty close together and not changing too much. The whole piece has very little build up (aside from that scale change) to create that sort of wandering, aimless feeling.
What you did is pretty much turn this into some odd sort of March. The heavy percussion just really doesn’t fit with this piece. If I were to remix it, I would probably use some quieter violins, cellos and other string instruments, with little to no percussion.
I have seen your past remixes and they all have this same instrument blend, in the other ones it works (more or less) but here it really doesn’t fit.

Thank you for the feedback! I totally get where you're coming from. I almost ended up sticking to the same percussion found in the original, but I decided to change it for a couple reasons. First of all, I wanted to give it a different sound from the in-game version because, even though I normally don't change up too many other aspects of the songs, I like trying to make some parts of them unique. Secondly, when I make my remixes, it isn't necessarily with the intention they would actually fit the in-game locations they are from. You're right that my usual style is probably not the best for a song with the title "Aimless Paths." To me, it sounds more triumphant, as if the paths aren't so aimless anymore and you are now confidently parading through the canyon with ease. (A march, like you said.) And finally, quieter songs with less percussion just aren't as interesting to me most of the time. In the end, it really came down to my personal preference generally lying with louder, grander music. I am 100% for softer parts within more intense songs. In fact, I think they can even make them better by creating some variety. However, in a lot of cases, I find myself losing interest in songs that lack a nice percussive beat most of the way through.

Despite all this, though, you are right to criticize me. I definitely could use some practice in making songs sound like they would play where they are meant to. I haven't decided what song I am going to remake next, but maybe I will put more effort into having it fit the area of its origin.

Oh yeah, one more thing! I am still very much a beginner when it comes to remixing and, well, music in general. You, on the other hand, clearly know a lot about this stuff. I would love to get to talk to you more about creating music and maybe learn a thing or two to help me improve. If you're interested, is there any other way I could keep in touch with you? (I mainly use Discord.)

    Thanks again!

That’s totally fine. I was just stating the way I view this music, and the way I think the composers did. If you want to change it up a little then that is totally up to you.
