Rename Shaman To Druid

So in Order Of The Grook in the Nature Of Magic class we learn that there are these magical practitioners, Shamans and Druids. Shamans take the life force of other beings for power, usually plants or animals, but the teacher also references Slykaar, a shaman who used human sacrifices. Druids are apparently connected to life itself, I don't remember much about it, but this is what I remember anyway. Either way, Shaman's name doesn't make much sense canonically, I mean, we don't see the character ever having to kill mobs to charge their spells, actually, Powder Specials are TECHNICALLY Shamanism, kill creatures for power, but I still think Shaman should be changed to Druid to avoid confusion.

Another thing you could do this change skykaar to a necromage and do the same in the quest

Necromancers are often affiliated with the undead, often controlling and rising them, and since most undead are related to the Corruption, and the fact Slykaar USES the life force of living beings for power, and not rise them from the dead, this wouldn't make sense

 

Normally isn’t what you said necromancers? From most of the books and such I’ve read necromages use the life force of other creatures to make/use magic

 

Necromancy, Also I'm realizing you're referring to calling them Necromages, which all I've found about is some perk in Skyrim, also what books? Necro is a Greek prefix that means death, also from what I've found about Shamanism is that they're connected to the spirit world, and judging from the fact that Slykaar mentions a realm, I wouldn't be surprised if this is his spirit world. While from what I've found about Druidry, is the connection to nature and the natural world, similar to the form of Druidry learned in OOTG.

 

Hmm ya I think yours definitely makes more sense. I don’t really remember what books probably some Obscure fantasy books I’ve read but personally I’ve used them in some dnd encounters but that doesn’t really count lmao.

Hmm... Well I've talked to you before about this and I kind of agree with you but I think of Slykaar as an everyday shaman who was humiliated and found access to Dern, driving him insane with dark magic. I think Shaman is an ok name.

There is no sign of Slykaar being fundamentally insane, and he was sacrificing humans before whatever Dernic connection he had, from the looks of it anyway.

 

Maybe you're right but I still think that we shouldn't base our idea of a class on one mad individual...
