Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Artemis tries to get closer to those dragging her, while Stephanie looks around to see how many people would notice guards being murdered by an invisible force.

 

There don’t seem to be too many guards not occupied with patrolling outside or moving Xlentia, though there are still a few dozen people in the reincarnation chamber.

 

Artemis and Stephanie sneak into the reincarnation chamber, looking for anything that might cause a body to be reincarnated; such as machinery.

 

There are millions of tubes that seem to accommodate reborn bodies, but they seem to be organized in sections. There’s no indication which section is which, though, and there’s a potent barrier protecting them from stray conflicts.

 

Stephanie looks around for wires or connectors to a mainframe, while Artemis keeps track of how many active guards are in the chamber.

 

There are about a hundred guards, along with one lone operator working with a terminal that’s the closest thing to a mainframe in sight.

 

Stephanie sneaks over to the terminal, Artemis following.

Stephanie tries to read what's on the terminal, while Artemis gets in a position to attack.

 

“I suppose so.”

 

The terminal shows a list of names, along with the recovery status of some sort of hellhound.

“I mean, we don’t extort people to buy luxuries. Yeah it’s still petty, but it’s better than that... right?”

 

Artemis looks for somewhere secluded to lure the terminal operator while Stephanie tries to find what's powering the terminal.

 

The entire room is guarded; the only reason she’s this close to the terminal in the first place is her cloak - and the guards are on high alert along with being far better equipped than the ones outside.
There is no clear power source; there are some cords coming into the room and into the terminal... but there are millions of cords in general in the room.

 

Stephanie follows the cords from the terminal out of the room, Artemis following behind, hoping to find the source of power to the palace.

 

One notably warm cord goes down into the palace basement, where a generator is set to draw power from the heat of the planet’s core.

It looks absurdly robust, as does the primary cable connected to it.

 

Artemis looks around for any guards, while Stephanie looks for any weak points or connections in the cable.

 

There are only two guards, but they’re equipped with experimental weaponry.

The cable doesn’t seem to have any weak points - the connections look even more robust than the rest of the cable.

 

Artemis sneaks around out of the view of the guards, before making an owl sound in an attempt to lure one over.

 

The guard doesn’t budge.
“They’re down here. Seal off the vents and lock the door behind second shift.” One says flatly.

 

Stephanie tries to surprise the second guard by quickly grabbing the experimental weapon from their hands and firing it at the generator, before dropping it and moving so her position isn't too obvious.

 

They’re far stronger than she is, and she winds up getting battered by the weapon as the guard spins it in whirlwind fashion.

 

Stephanie manages to retain focus on her invisibility as she sneaks away again, though hurt. Artemis returns and gets close to the guard she tried to lure. I quickly leave Artemis and try to possess the guard instead.
