    You are 100% correct.
I think this sums it up best: it is the easiest thing to do. And it was the easiest thing to do.

And I'd say it's "too late" for them to change this, because they've already committed to this, but Wynn's done some pretty amazing things before. They've surprised me. They can definitely do it again.

Looking at Wynncraft as a game, of course if all barriers were removed and we got something like Breath of the Wild, well, that'd be stunning wouldn't it? I think that's your main point, and I agree.

A gamer shouldn't be restricted: always good to increase freedom within the game. Free the player, don't restrict them! (and restrict freedom for outside the game, to disallow game-breaking bugs to exist, haha - it's a tough balancing act!)

Really I get a lot of the reason why they do it and I've seen good points brought up for both sides so I'm kinda on the fence for the main map.

My biggest complaint however is with actual areas that look cool to explore, that just instead end up blocked off with barriers. It's like a fucked teaser, it looks sweet to look around, but then you just actually can't and have to stare at it from afar. It's especially annoying when there are absolutely more creative solutions, add maybe some environmental features (tall hills surrounding topped with barriers [barrier use actually makes sense here instead of just an invisible wall], collapsed rocks blocking a pathway, or literally just a void in some cases), but instead it's just a flat window of barriers. Recently the hero beta brought this feeling back for me in more than one place:
In PoNR, when you go back to old Lutho before it became all dead, you can look outside the town and you see rolling hills with paths and trees, and it looks pretty cool. But then the town gate is just blocked with barriers. Seriously? That exudes such a painfully neat missed opportunity for the player to check out a completely new environment, but instead it's just cut off.

The second case was in one of the discoveries (I forget it's name but it's the one where you jump in a void hole to get there) where you get teleported to a kinda neat area just surrounded by a big gray sea. It would be interesting to look around it and explore a little, but surprise, the entire area is blocked off by barriers so you can only stare.
Honestly, it'd be so much cooler if it just made actual sense as to why you can't go to areas instead of just "haha invisible wall", I get it takes a lot more effort in some places but not doing so in the end can come off as almost lazy and leaves a lot to be desired. There's a lot of really simple solutions that I even listed before and I'm sure y'all on the CT could think of even better, but just please add some damn variation to it instead of abusing the funny invisible wall block so much

The "Wind" thing is already exists, its a region with "An Invisible Force pushes you back" in the Gateway Realm or a region in Temple of Legends that blocks you the entrance untill you complete a quest. And yea, I'd like it if it were released. It can prevent cases like mine (Im banned for breaking through barriers into SE (RtD)) because regions are strong protection of areas, barriers are not (I will not tell why).

didn't expect a rant about barrier blocks when i clicked on this lmao

wynncraft breaks immersion in so many more ways, and their usage of barrier blocks is mostly fine imo. only thing i can really complain about is the random barriers in canyons of the lost

    on another note;
apologies for the old quote but i really don't understand this. people have been abusing corrupted dungeon spam for xp for literally as long as i can remember and this hasn't really been significantly changed

Not every MMO lets you literally fly and zoom around the map in any way you want, though. You can't see and climb that mountain in WoW but you sure can in Wynncraft. Sometimes it sucks but let's be glad that for the most part Whnn lets you take full advantage of its terrain. In what other MMO can you choose to hop tree-to-tree to avoid enemies? To dive underwater to kill enemies from below? Minecraft just inherently has cool movement options, being a sandbox, and Wynn builds on those. The random mountain barriers prevent people from breaking an area's progression so that people somewhat have to follow the intended route, and I think that's fine. Barriers between details on walls to prevent camping, ex in the Qira Hive rooms allow the builders to throw a fuckbunch of cool details without worrying about camping and more cool builds are always worth it.

Couldn't agree more. Even though it'd be extra work, I wish the quest would take some time to go over whatever consequences and struggle you may have getting out of the ravine if you did end up jumping in...

I do think that some barriers will be necessary (edge of the map, duh, maybe in dungeons because those are kinda already immersion broken for me, whatever)

But like why are there barriers between sky islands and the ocean?
Why are there barriers between the eyeball forest and the lost city thing? (idk what its called)
Why are there barriers on top of the pigman ravines?
    - Making that point even worse, the pigman ravines barriers seem super arbitrary - theres one place you can climb on the waterfall and up some things (idk what path we were supposed to take, I tp'd up there), and then theres other places with barriers, and theres no way you can tell without actually going there whether it'll be blocked or not.

More minor complaints, but theres a bunch of things that look climbable but are actually blocked off by barriers (Silent Expanse, Dernel Jungle, Sky Islands, Llevigar Plains walls, to name a few). Like there's literally a patch of flat ground there but you can't reach it, and there's no indication that its blocked off until you try to tp/escape up to the pond/tree/flowers/nice ledge of purple stone, and you just don't make it up there for some reason, and you don't realize its because of freakin barriers until the fifth attempt because a) they have no business being there, and b) there's no good way to tell if there are barriers or not without literally running into the wall.

Grind spots, fine. But I don't understand why there are barriers against exploration.

As for boss fights, this could easily be done with the "wind pushes you back" kind of thing, and it'd honestly be even cooler imo - Imagine Qira or some other endgame boss saying "GET BACK HERE YOU CAN'T RUN FROM ME" vs just running into a wall...

Just wanted to say I rarely reply or comment on threads at all but I check almost every thread on wynncraft to see if something is cool. By far out of the two posts Ive seen by you, I love how you are able to state your opinion and the problems of wynn. I see people discuss them privately all the time but never blatantly say it in a thread.

Thanks, that means a lot to me. I try to be as open, and if not blunt about my opinions towards the stage of gameplay in Wynn.

It also constantly reminds you that you're playing a game, with text constantly appearing advertising for ranks, or mob totems, or crates, so whenever you look at the chat, you are immediately reminded "Hey dont forget you're in a game"
